Chapter 196 - Four Reasons for Life - mtres
Roland
We needed to position the boys strategically. I thought for a moment.
"Mueco, Zombie, and Cuajao only know English."
"Simple, Onion: Mueco knows martial arts, so he goes to Japan to immerse himself in Hideaki Akimaya's world, learns the language, then specializes, he's a mechanical engineer or he can pursue another degree."
"The mission should leave them with studies and new knowledge; they'll become students again. We know he has an adult daughter and she has two small children, his grandchildren, the eldest must be three years old and the other is a baby. He already has his heir."
"Zombie goes to South Korea and Cuajao goes to Turkey, to do the same as Mueco. We need to have control over both the head and his family, see how we can get in, and as soon as we see an opportunity, we take it."
"In the organizations of Joon Kim in South Korea and Onur Aslan in Turkey, anything is possible." They looked at me. "General information and tasks for each one."
All my people were athletic, trained their bodies and minds, it seemed unbelievable, but none of them did drugs, nor did they have the habit of drinking, which allowed their mental capacity to reach its full potential.
"Rino can't move at the moment, he's in a specialization in his career," commented Rat.
That young man showed promise, we had been taking him to the special training sessions we attended as a group every two years. I nodded.
"Let him finish, but as soon as he does, we can keep him in mind, a doctor in our group is essential. Churrusco."
"Yes, boss."
I smiled at his comment, looked at my sons again, I will do whatever it takes to keep them away from this mess.
"We need to go back to drop off the kids, we'll be there for the necessary hours to give them warmth at home, the rest stay here working. And Churrusco, start with legal papers for everyone in the agreed countries, driver's licenses, clean bank accounts, make sure they have records showing they've lived in each country for four years."
"This way we rule out making them think they might be infiltrators, they're on alert since my 'death'. Cherry, Turd, and Itch, detailed information on each of the organizations, we have a lot of information collected from when we were the cartel and we've been watching them for years."
"Prepare a folder, without neglecting everyone's current obligations. In a month, everything must be ready for Rat and Miguel to give the order to the boys. No matter the time it takes, we must stay and know what's happening, for now, it's imperative to know why they're interested in what happened in Colombia."
"Let's do what we know how to do," commented Rat.
"We don't shoot anymore."
Arnold was right, and I truly wished never to do it again. However, if they attack my people, Lord, I won't stop until I ruin them all.
"Rat, only if necessary or if their lives are in danger, we kill again."
He knew what I meant, the only one who would have to prove himself a bit more would be Wolf, he's up against the most bloodthirsty mafia. Let's hope he doesn't have to do it directly. I don't want any of my people to kill again.
"For now, just information, but if they see they can act to get in, don't miss the chance."
"Yes, sir."
There was no need to speak again or touch the subject, each one would find the time, the moment, and the days to do their job, we had a month, they would have everything ready. Now we had to continue with our lives as if nothing had happened.
Cherry stayed on the first shift to gather information, Churrusco with the legal forgeries. The rest of us had to continue with the routine. Back to El Renacer as we walked through the wide halls. Hopefully, the babies are still asleep.
"Are you going to tell Any?" I nodded. It was important to keep her informed.
"She keeps insisting on handing them over to those mafias. That's impossible, however, Wolf will need her, if he's asked to kill, he must sell the idea that he likes to clean up his own mess, once they hurt people, they can get them out of Russia."
"That's where Any comes in. Simon, investigate Tommy and the boys, be careful with their women, everyone knows what they can or want to say, they're free to make the corresponding decision. Ines is a vault and seeing us disappear out of nowhere, if we don't tell her, she'll knock us out. Arnold, can you control Guadalupe?" He stopped.
"Boss, don't start. Did Ines say something? Now don't go pairing me up with that brat, she's a nuisance and knowing that we'll be Enrique's godparents for life, that's enough for me."
Everything was in motion. It had been eight days since Verónica went to the clinic. Supposedly, I would be able to see her tomorrow, at least on the phone. I had been talking to Santiago and Raúl three times a day, every day. We knew that she responded well to the chemo and iodine therapy. Now, we just had to wait for the radiation to leave her body. If it weren't for the kids, I would be there tomorrow.
I couldn't sleep. I had moved the bed against the wall because I was sleeping with all my kids in it. They didn't sleep through the night in their cribs, but this way, they finally slept for six hours straight. It was one in the morning, and Liam still wasn't asleep. The rest were sound asleep; they were so beautiful.
Knowing that I had closed myself off to the possibility of having children, but I had my personal variant, my wife. Thanks to her, I had the most wonderful thing, the most perfect proof of understanding a bit of God's love. It was incredible to describe that connection and the desire to protect that arose automatically upon hearing a heartbeat, then when you hear that cry and as soon as you hold them, they anchor you.
They take over your existence because everything revolves around them. Liam kept babbling. This little one wasn't sleepy, and neither was dad. I picked him up, and he smiled at me. Like a softie, yes, because I was so smitten with them that my eyes got misty. No one should see me, the boss of bosses, surrendered to four tiny beings.
"Not sleepy, my little one? Don't let mommy hear; it'll be our secret. I'll call you my little one when dad can't sleep."
Partly, it was because of everything we had going on. Until I find myself executing the plan, I won't be at peace.
"I'll play the guitar. Do you want to hear daddy?"
I went to the closet where I kept it and, in the rocking chair with Liam in his kangaroo pouch on my chest, I started to play and sing. His little eyes watched me. Lord God, this little guy was going to do whatever he wanted with me. His face, despite his condition, was beautiful.
He was my son. I would be a wretch if I didn't see his beauty. By the third song, he was asleep. I got up and put him between his siblings, next to Dante and Victoria. Enrique was beside me. My phone rang. At this hour? I saw it was Verónica.
"Love! Beautiful, tell me you're okay." If my kids made my eyes water, she made me fall apart.
"Roland!" I heard her sigh. "Honey, I don't see the kids in their cribs." I laughed.
"Displaced by three intruders and a princess."
"I love you. I just got out, but I couldn't wait. The first thing I did was check the cameras. I don't see them. Forgive me, but I miss you all."
"I love you too. I'm glad we can talk. Let me do a video call so you can see them." I did. Looking at her, I saw how gaunt and thin she was. "Honey, you look gaunt."
"You have sunken eyes. Haven't you been sleeping well?"
"Look at the reason." I extended my hand. Enrique was beside me. She started to cry.
"They're so big."
"My love, I'm going to complain. You need to get these kids in line." She laughed while crying. "For Arnold and Gustavo, our kids are rotten." She frowned. "And I give them a little credit. They stink, especially Enrique and Dante. That's the truth.
"The other two as well, but I don't know if it's because the older ones eat so much. They're already at three ounces and not even a month old." I heard her laugh. Now we were looking at each other through a screen. "I wish I had you in my arms."
"I only have a few days left. The important thing is that I'm alive." I agreed. "How's Liam? Has he been breathing well?"
"Yes, the pediatrician came three days ago and checked all of them. What I've noticed is that he has trouble sleeping at night. I think we need to keep him more awake during the day so he can sleep like his siblings. Not long ago, I put him to sleep playing the guitar."
"Good. And my princess?"
"My beautiful, that baby is spoiled rotten with her daddy." We looked at each other again. "Thank you, Verónica, for these four gifts."
"Thank you for putting them in me. They're signaling me to give up the phone. I can call now, but I can't have it all day. I'll be the one to call you, sweetheart."
"I love you, Verónica."
"I love you more. Give my kids a kiss from me. And one for you."
"Where should I put it?" I said mischievously.
"On the front part where the sun doesn't shine." I laughed heartily, and my excitement grew.
"You're a pervert. As soon as you get back and Dr. Jones gives us the go-ahead, Verónica, hold on, because there won't be a single day that stops me."
"You're the pervert."
"It's not my fault you're so hot."
"I'll call you tomorrow. I love you."
We blew kisses to each other, and now, with the joy that I could see her and knowing she was out of danger, I fell asleep, as much as my intruders allowed me. "Thank you, Lord God."
