Zachary Irwin took Jane Gardner to Dragon City's famous the Star River.
On one of the Star River's private islands is The Shine, a top-notch Chinese garden villa designed in reference to the Humble Administrator's Garden.
The Shine is owned by Ottilia Amos.
The Shine, worth one billion dollars, has made headlines in the media for its title of "National Treasure of the East, a global orphan".
Ottilia Amos was able to buy it, not only because of her strong financial resources, but also because she had more than three rounds of face-to-face negotiations among the super-rich of several countries, before finally becoming the only buyer in China and abroad.
Jane Gardner has also visited The Shine during her three years of marriage.
But only at the edge, inside, today is the first time.
After entering The Shine, the car drove for about half an hour through the scenery of the Jiangnan Garden, before arriving at the entrance of a magnificent private courtyard.
The courtyard is similar to other courtyards, but the specifications are a bit higher.
Jane Gardner vaguely guessed that this was the house where Ottilia Amos lived all year round.
Following the stone staircase up, the courtyard was rustic, with all the necessary indoor appliances.
Smelling the fragrance of incense, Jane Gardner then looked at the dazzling chandelier overhead.
She was in a trance for a moment, not knowing whether she was in the city or in ancient times.
It was only when Ottilia Amos, dressed in cotton linen and wearing white hair, gracefully appeared in front of her that she came back to her senses.
"Grandma, this is the good wife you chose for me!"
When he saw Ottilia Amos come out, Zachary Irwin's unruly aura was gathered up.
But the anger was still very strong, he pulled out Jane Gardner and pushed her forward.
He pulled out Jane Gardner and pushed her forward, then pulled over Mars Zhou, whose breath was faint, carried by his bodyguard.
"Do you know what they did in Maravilla? She cuckolded me! I used to be able to lie to myself and admit her existence, but now, this marriage, I'm divorced!"
Ottilia Amos is nearly 80 years old, her skin is sagging and her cheeks have old age spots, but she has an air of calmness about her.
Without saying a word, just standing there, she exudes an aura that can make people feel suffocated.
"Jane, I want you to tell me for yourself, are you and this man what Zachary says you are?"
Ottilia Amos twirled the sedum beads she wore on her wrist, half-raising her eyes to look at Jane Gardner.
A dark light bloomed in her cloudy eyes.
Jane Gardner shook her head fiercely and opened her lips, "Mars Zhou and I are just high school classmates, and we have no improper relationship.
Today, he was instigated by others and did try to insult me, but Xin Xian and Zachary came in time, he did not succeed!"
"Butler, take this man down and ask him properly who actually sent him here."
Without even thinking, Ottilia Amos chose to believe Jane Gardner.
"Grandma, you trust her so much, what is so good about her?"
Zachary Irwin was furious, but Ottilia Amos was the person he respected the most, and he could only hold back his emotions even if he had them.
"Although I believe you, but you have made a mistake in this matter, Jane, if Grandma says she will discipline you, so that you will grow up and know how to watch out for others, will you be punished?"
Ottilia Amos ignored Zachary Irwin and just stared at Jane Gardner.
"Grandma, I am also at fault in this matter, I should not open the door for him freely. I'm being punished!"
Knowing that Ottilia Amos was doing this to calm Zachary Irwin's anger so that he would not divorce her, she readily agreed.
Jane Gardner looked at Ottilia Amos with emotion, thinking she was not as cold as she usually was on the phone.
"Since you are being punished, you will go and kneel in the shrine from today. And Zachary, you've moved out since you became an adult and haven't spent much time with your grandmother, so stay over these days, too, so I can liven things up."
Not waiting for Zachary Irwin to refuse, Ottilia Amos finished her sentence and dragged Jane Gardner away.
Even if Zachary Irwin was not happy, he could not take her away from Ottilia Amos.
The first day of the punishment.
Jane Gardner had just entered the shrine when Zachary Irwin entered.
Looking at Zachary Irwin, who kept approaching, Jane Gardner stepped back.
"What the hell do you want!"
Zachary Irwin's eyes were hazy, and his expression could eat people.
Jane Gardner knew that the two men had a deep-seated grudge and tried to explain, but there was no evidence.
"What do I want? Since you have the ability to make your grandmother keep you, you are still my Zachary Irwin's witness, you say, what do I want?"
Bracing his hands against the wall, he confined Jane Gardner in his arms.
Zachary Irwin thought of the scene he saw on the couch and couldn't get over it!
"Say, did Mars Zhou do this to you?" Zachary Irwin didn't know why he kept thinking about that scene, he only knew that he was not happy, then he couldn't let Jane Gardner be too happy.
"No! No! I have nothing to do with Mars Zhou! You can insult me, but you can't insult my character!"
Tilting her head to look directly at Zachary Irwin, Jane Gardner bit down on her lip.
He took advantage of his momentary lapse of concentration to give another push, but Zachary Irwin was not only not pushed away, but completely into his arms himself.
"Do you have that personality thing?" Zachary Irwin stared at the resistant Jane Gardner, his eyes tumbling with fury.
"I know how you won't believe me, and I'm not asking you to believe me, but no one can make me admit to something I haven't done!" Jane Gardner gritted her teeth.
Zachary Irwin looked at himself in her eyes, and he couldn't see that she was lying.
If she really was lying, that meant she was too good of an actress!
Zachary Irwin finally let her go, he didn't like the way he was affected by her, today, he shouldn't have come over at all.
Two days later, Jane Gardner had breakfast with Ottilia Amos in the morning and went to the shrine to punish her knees.
Then at noon, someone brought her food, and she was happy to be at the shrine.
In the evening, she smelled the incense and listened to the insects and birds outside the window.
Even though her knees were aching, her heart was at peace.
Zachary Irwin did not show up for the next two days, except for the first day.
By the fourth day, Jane Gardner's knees swelled up.
Not to mention kneeling, even walking hurt.
"Jane Gardner, you can only fool your grandmother and pretend to be a virtuous and generous woman, how long can you pretend?"
Jane Gardner was about to go downstairs to the shrine and kneel down when Zachary Irwin appeared next to her.
He was wearing a Chinese lapel-length shirt, and his handsome cheeks were soothingly open with his good-looking double eyebrows.
He looked warm and genial in the sunlight.
It's just a pity that as soon as he opened his mouth, all the warmth and warmth vanished.
"Mr. Irwin seems happy to see me being punished!"
Jane Gardner's heart beat faster as she gathered her eyes to look at Zachary Irwin.
She didn't dare to continue looking at him, lest she reveal the feelings she was hiding for him.
His heart was not in his own, and if his feelings that he had been hiding for three years were also discovered by him, she did not need to think about what kind of language he would use to insult himself.
"Happy, yes, but not because of you!"
Zachary Irwin lifted his hand and cupped her chin, "You should be glad that the burns on Ivel's face are all healed, or ..."
Pushed away by him, Jane Gardner stumbled to steady herself.
Looking at Zachary Irwin's pleasant pace, she smiled bitterly.
Yes, he was happy because Ivel Day's burns were all healed.
What did he care about how he was doing?
Jane Gardner ate a simple breakfast and continued to the shrine, after stubbornly holding the stairs and walking down slowly step by step.
As she knelt, Jane Gardner felt her body begin to burn, but she was so hot, yet she didn't sweat a bit.
When the maid brought her food at noon, she had no appetite either.
As she knelt into the afternoon, Jane Gardner felt like her knees were going to give out.
She knew something was wrong with her body, but she thought it would be an hour before the time was up, so she told herself to bear it even if she was uncomfortable, and it would pass.
But to her surprise, it was the last hour that she couldn't make it through.
