Orlando stopped his steps for a moment when he heard what his grandfather said, but in the end he did not answer him.
Vanessa, hearing the footsteps outside the door, became unconsciously alert, but she knew she couldn't stop Orlando from entering, as it was their room.
However, Orlando passed by and Vanessa finally breathed a sigh of relief. After checking that Orlando had left, she closed the door tightly and lay down exhausted on the bed.
Vanessa hadn't slept very well, so she got up at six in the morning. It was exercise time for Gerardo, so she went to the garden to accompany the old man.
A little later it was time for breakfast.
-Grandfather, be careful.
Vanessa first helped Gerardo sit down, then sat on the other side of the table.
Jaime came followed by the servants to serve breakfast. When she saw that they put cutlery on the seat next to her, Vanessa was astonished:
"Is Orlando still here?"
-Jaime, look where Orlando is, if he doesn't come, he won't have breakfast.
Jaime curtsied before going to fetch the master, but a few steps away he spotted Orlando already coming down the stairs.
-Good morning, grandfather," greeted Orlando indifferently.
-It's already too late! -Gerardo answered seriously.
Orlando shrugged his shoulders and quickly sat down next to Vanessa, as he had to behave better in front of his grandfather.
-After the meal, help Vanessa organise dinner. And don't be lazy! Do you hear me?
-I understand," Orlando nodded, suppressing his displeasure.
Gerardo was satisfied with her answer and told Vanessa:
-Vanessa, this banquet is mainly to welcome your Uncle Dylan back. I have already had his room made up, what you should do would be to invite some decent ladies, as Dylan is still a bachelor in his thirties. As your uncle, I wish him a happy marriage as soon as possible.
-Yes, I understand.
"So, the banquet is to welcome that odious Dylan. If I remember correctly, Dylan is already thirty-two years old. So, yes, he can be treated as a lord."
-Does Dylan's bedroom need to be properly prepared for tonight?
-No need, Dylan's flight is tomorrow morning.
-Tomorrow morning?
"How is that possible? So who did I sleep with two nights ago? Did Dylan lie to Grandpa with a fake date and come back early? But why?"
Vanessa had so many doubts in an instant.
-Orlando, pick Dylan up at the airport tomorrow.
-Okay," Orlando was upset, because he didn't feel like being a chauffeur.
After breakfast, Gerardo left for the company and Orlando was not going to help Vanessa without his grandfather's presence.
-As my wife, this is your obligation," Orlando said mockingly and left without looking back.
Nevertheless, Vanessa sighed in relief because she was actually afraid of Orlando.
Now she didn't know Orlando, nor did she understand why the man she had loved so much had changed so drastically.
Truly, she had looked forward to the idea of a sweet and happy life together after marriage, but now she was left with endless suffering.
Time flew by and the day of the banquet arrived.
