Chapter 215

Last night, during the gathering outside the dorm building, Charles deliberately shared his theories about the "exit" with everyone.

He needed bait to test a hypothesis that might save lives.

Charles was certain that the deadly card was hidden from Floyd.

Tonight, Floyd would definitely make a move, either targeting him or choosing another victim.

If Floyd's target was him, he would wait until Charles fell asleep, then slip the card into his bedding and quickly switch rooms.

All Charles had to do was return the card to the door of the dorm room Floyd chose at the right moment.

Even if Floyd chose another teammate as his target, it didn't matter.

After all, everyone had heard Charles's words clearly last night in front of the dorm building.

Charles hadn't lied.

Responding to the "Smiling Boy" with a smile might indeed be the exit, but it was just a guess, not a confirmed fact.

Charles intended to use those who might die tonight to test his hypothesis.

If he guessed right, he would save a life; if he guessed wrong, there would be no substantial loss.

Staring at the black plastic bag containing Floyd's remains, Charles's expression remained calm.

He had given Floyd a chance to choose.

But Floyd, instead of repenting, tried to drag others down as his stepping stones to save himself.

That was just too unkind.

Charles never showed mercy to people like that.

Moreover, Charles never intended to let Floydsurvive.

Recalling that day, Charles had gone alone to the first floor of the dorm to find the card. Floyd had refused him, but Charles hadn't thought much of it at the time.

However, when he returned, he saw the sweat on Floyd's forehead and his rapid breathing. Charles immediately realized that Floyd hadn't seen a ghost by the window and gotten scared; he had just gone through intense physical activity.

Combining this with the fact that the "Smiling Boy" hadn't focused on him but on Floyd, Charles deduced that while he was on the first floor, Floyd had sneaked barefoot to the big guy's room on the second floor, found, and taken the card.

The "Smiling Boy" hadn't targeted him immediately because there was another person in the hallway, who with the card.

But Charles didn't expose him on the spot.

After all, without Floyd, he wouldn't have been able to enter the third room trial.

But last night, he had to act.

Charles never spared those who threatened his safety, letting Floyd continue his harmful actions.

Now, though, more than just Floyd had died last night. There was another person.

Was it Finnegan or Briar? Charles couldn't be sure.

Both dorm rooms were empty of the living, and the other survivor was nowhere to be found.

Leaving the dorm building, Charles walked to the open space in front of it.

From a distance, he saw three people waiting for him.

They were Wilhelmina, Elijah, and Briar.

Seeing Briar, Charles instantly realized that the body parts wrapped in the black plastic bag belonged to Finnegan.

This surprised him a bit.

Finnegan was that kind of person... but it was a fitting end for his actions.

"It's just us now," Briar said, her voice trembling.

Charles nodded slightly. "Yes, Floyd... died last night."

Wilhelmina eyed Charles curiously and asked, "You and Floyd both have bloodstains that won't come off, and you were in the same dorm... why are you here, and he's dead?"

"Did you see anything last night?"

Charles pulled out the crumpled, battered card from his clothes and unfolded it in front of them. "Because last night, he had this on him."
