Chapter 96: Just Friends
I fell silent and immediately thought about what answer I should give to someone who couldn't be fooled like Sully. But, considering that Sully doesn't seem to really care about love matters like this, if she suddenly wanted to know it would really confuse me.
"Why do you look difficult to answer? Is that something that can't be said?" Sully asked with her eyes full of question marks which made me even more confused.
"N-no, that-"
The school bell rang, just as my mouth was about to move to answer it.
"That's it, that's enough! Let's discuss it another time!" Said Sully as she walked to her desk.
Meanwhile, Odelia and I were still standing motionless while continuing to look at Sully who was already sitting in her chair. I took a breath and exhaled slowly. It's a relief that I don't have to discuss that issue now. But Lucas, when I glanced at him, he seemed to be sitting quietly reading a book.
Annoying, what exactly was my fault that he acted strangely like that? Why didn't he tell me frankly that I made a mistake?
"Stupid! Lucas stupid, annoying!" I thought. Because I was holding back my anger, my hands clenched into fists. Just like going to beat someone up.
"Lea, why are you still standing there? Come on, the teacher will be here soon!" Said Odelia who had almost reached her table. With a heavy heart, I was forced to walk to my place and forget about Lucas' problems for a while.
However, throughout this class hour it felt boring. My head can't stop thinking about what mistake I did that made him act cold like this to me. Is it true that he's jealous because I'm talking about Jonathan? If it's true, does that mean he really love me?
"Lea Bichsel!" Called the teacher who was standing in front of the class.
"Ah...yes, Sir?" I answered spontaneously and immediately stood up. Because I was shocked and confused, my face looked very panicked as if I had just been caught doing something illegal.
"Hahahaha...you daydreamer!" The friends burst out laughing, especially Violetta and Sebastian and their squad.
"Lea, try to solve problem number three!" Said the teacher while looking sharply at me.
I immediately shuddered when I saw the questions on the blackboard, it felt so stupid because I forgot that it was math class time and instead I spent the time daydreaming about that stupid Lucas who was super annoying.
"O-okay, Sir!" I said while walking stiffly towards the blackboard.
When the teacher handed the marker into my hand, at that moment I felt as if the world was shaking violently because I didn't understand the problem I had to do at all.
"Oh my God, how is this?" I thought anxiously. Even though I have read it several times, I still don't understand it.
I stood stiffly in front of the blackboard, barely even moving for two minutes. My right hand holding the marker wouldn't stop shaking. If only my father's genius had passed down to me, things like this would have been nothing.
"Why hasn't it been done yet? Do you still not understand?"
"Yes, ,Sir!"
"If you don't understand, don't daydream! Lucas Schneider, solve problem number three!" Said the teacher.
Lucas immediately walked to the front of the class and stood next to me, even though he only handed him the marker, my hands were still shaking. Lucas didn't look at me at all, he immediately worked on question number three calmly and quickly.
"Oh yeah, I just realized that Lucas is left-handed," I thought. Even though we had been together for almost three months and went to school together, I just realized that Lucas was really different from the others.
I, who was standing next to him, continued to look at him, his tall and athletic body, broad shoulders, shiny brown hair, strong and firm jaw. His eyes, yes, they were the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen.
My heart was pounding, at times like this I actually paid attention to him and not the problem he was working on.
"Finish, Sir!" Lucas said after he finished working on the questions.
The teacher adjusted his glasses and looked at Lucas' answer. Judging from the look on the teacher's face, I think I already know the answer.
"Yes, the answer is correct. As I expected, you are very intelligent and Lea-"
"Y-yes Sir?"
"Isn't Lucas your boyfriend? You should ask him for help with studying, understand?" Said the teacher.
I was silent, hearing the teacher say that Lucas and I were dating really surprised me. How could the teacher possibly know that? because I was too shocked, I couldn't say anything. Meanwhile, Lucas was silent and reluctant to comment.
I glanced at my classmates, their faces were no less shocked than mine. Especially Violetta who stared cynically at me, really scary. I know what she's thinking.
"Can I sit down now, Sir?" Lucas asked.
"Yes, please sit down!"

"It seems Mr. Michael approves of your and Lucas' relationship, right?" Said Odelia, just moments after the break bell sounded.
"Hah? What?" I said confused. I really can't think clearly right now.
"Did you hear what the teacher said? He wants you to learn from Lucas because you're his girlfriend! Wow... congratulations, Lea?" Odelia smiled broadly, I don't know why Odelia looks happy.
"Why are you the one who is happy? You don't have a crush on Lucas, do you?"
"It is true!"
"So?"
"I have a crush on Lucas like I admire him because he is very handsome, cool, smart, good at sports, can sing and has that cool attitude. He really is the complete package, right?"
"Is that so? So the point is, do you like him or not?"
"Yeah, I like him."
"If you like him, why do you even support my relationship with him?"
"Well, if I like him, does that mean he has to like me too?"
"Um...how is that?"
"Lea, I like Lucas, I just like him. That doesn't mean I want to have him, in fact I was happy when I heard you and Lucas were dating."
"Odelia, we're not dating! It's just pretend, don't take it seriously!"
"Really? But it looks like Lucas really love you, Lea. The proof is that he got angry when you told him about your childhood friend. That means he's jealous!"
"He's not jealous, he's just playing around! Besides, his attitude is strange and very difficult to predict. So I don't want to get too carried away and think that he's serious!"
"How do you know when he's just playing around? What if Lucas really seriously love you? Are you still going to insist like this?" Asked Odelia. Her question made my anxiety that had subsided resurfaced.
"He doesn't like-" I said. Suddenly, the face of the woman I saw on Lucas' phone at that time came back to my mind. A very beautiful woman with a charming smile. From their poses in the photo, it is clear that they are very close.
"Lea, what's wrong with you?" Asked Odelia. Because I suddenly became quiet and pensive, making Odelia worried.
"Ah...no, nothing! I just thought that Lucas only thought of me as a friend, nothing more!"
