Chapter 148

“Thank you.” I said

“ No problem.” she said sarcastically. “ Now help your wives put these gowns on and their nurses will be in soon.

Jason grinned. “ You wanted this badly didn’t you Em.”

“ Damned right we did.” Faith said. “

Within five minutes the nurses were bringing in a second bed and hooking the girls up to machines to make sure they were okay and the babies were okay. The next person to come in was Dr. Rae. He shook his head and laughed at the girls.

“ I see your family is thick as thieves. I like that. I’m assuming you don’t care if I check dilation with both men in the room, do you girls?”

“ No, we are good.” Faith said.

“ Alright Emily you are first.” he said and had Emily lay back. “ You are at about six, maybe six and a half,” he said.

“Well at least this time I made it.” she joked.

He had Faith do the same thing. “ Crazy as it is, you are also a six.” he said surprised.

“That’s right.” Faith said. “We are going to labor together and hold each other's hand as support.

“Don’t get your hopes up.” Dr. Rae said. “ You could go before her or she could go before you.”

For another four hours the girls labored together helping each other through the pain. Each time the doctor came in he was surprised that they stayed right on track with each other. About an hour after we arrived the rest of the family made it, but waited in the waiting room. Sebastian brought up everyone's hospital bags and then went to wait with the rest of the family. When it was time for the girls to push they had us push their beds together and then call for the doctors since Dr. Rae couldn’t deliver two babies at once. The nurses rushed in with the bassinets for the babies and it was more real than I had ever imagined it. I was holding tightly to Faith’s hand as she held tightly to mine and Emily’s. There were words of encouragement coming from all of us in the room and the room was filled with so much love.

“Come on Faith, you can do it.” I said as she pushed through her tears.

“ You got this Faith.” I heard Emily say through her teeth and then stop to take a breath.

“ Don’t stop Em, Brett is almost here. Keep pushing!” Faith managed to scream out as baby A came into this world.

“ You got this babe, just keep pushing.” Jason said to Emily as she gritted her teeth one last time and Brett was born.

Now we were all giving words of encouragement to Faith because she still had one baby to go. “ You can do it.” I said to her, “ You are strong and nothing can stop you. We believe in you.” I said kissing her hand. She made one last and final push and baby B was born. All of us crying happily for the other one's miracle.

The nurse handed me one twin and Faith the other and she immediately knew what to do and began feeding him. I looked up and Emily had done the same. Both women looked perfect even though they were tired, weak, and looked frazzled.

After a while Faith had fed both babies she said, “ I think baby A looks more like you and baby B looks more like Sebastian. Don’t you think so?”

I hadn’t had time to really think about it, but I was going to agree with her just because she deserved to name these boys. She went through hell and she grew these children for almost nine months inside of her while I didn’t have to go through anything. “ That is perfect.” I said kissing her hair. Not long after the family came up for a while and got to see them. I told the kids since Faith and Emily didn’t use an epidural they would get to come home the next day and they could hold them more then. Sebastian installed the carseats in both Jason’s car and my truck before they left.

“Hey.” Jason whispered after the babies and the girls were sleeping.

“Yea.” I whispered back.

“ It’s crazy how everything has come full circle and we are both finally dads. I just wish dad was here to see it.” he said sadly.

“ Jason, dad is here. We named two grandchildren after him. He is watching over us right now and I can guarantee you he is proud as hell.”

“ Do you think so?” he asked.

“ Jason I know it.” I said.

“ I’m so glad that we could finally leave that crazy ass life we had behind and can be as normal as we possibly can be. We can raise our kids together and teach them everything we know without telling them what our old job was. It will make them strong if they ever come across a situation where they will need the skills.” he said.

“ Not only that it will make them strong men. I mean look at us. I think dad will love that Sebastian is here to help us teach the old ways that he taught us too. It will be like his legacy will live on even more because something he taught us will be taught to our kids.”

“ You are right.” he said as he rolled over in the bed the nurses gave him.

I laid in my bed admiring how strong and beautiful Faith is and the little miracles that were given to us knowing that the best parts of our lives were ahead of us and everything about it was going to be amazing.
