Chapter 26 Blinding

Chapter 26 Blinding
Dante's POV

That question, something about hearing that question from her lips sparked something in me. Like I finally came to my senses.

I pulled out of Isabella sharply, stepping back almost immediately. She groaned, still sitting sprawled on the table with her legs wide open, naked and breathing heavily. "What the—"

"Get dressed," I snapped, tucking my dick back into my shorts and zipping up fast. I did the buttons of my shirt next. My fingers were surprisingly steady, a stark contrast to how my head felt at the moment.

She lifted herself up slightly, resting on her elbows and shot me a confused look. "Why are you acting all strange all of a sudden?"

"Get the fuck out of here," I barked, grabbing my jacket off the chair and slung it on. I pulled out my phone from the suit pocket, flicking it on to check the time.

3 a.m. already.

Shit. I shook my head, pissed at myself at this point.

Isabella scoffed, then laughed all of a sudden, like she found all of these funny. "You'll never change, Dante. So I guess what I have been hearing is true," she exclaimed.

"Nobody gives a fuck about what you've been hearing," I spat out.

But she only smiled more. "You found a brand new toy to play with, haven't you?"

"Don't you dare—" I tried to say but she cut me off.

"You've replaced me already," she continued, now sitting up with her two arms by her side. " You didn't even let a year pass well, you jumped into another person."

"My personal life is none of your fucking business." I growled with a finger pointed at her while stepping towards her slowly. "Now, if you're done, I suggest you start leaving."

She shook her head one more time and slid off the table slowly, still full length naked. I noticed the way she added a bit more away to her hips, teasing me one last time.

I didn't bother to tempt myself again, I kept my eyes everywhere but her. By the time I turned my eyes towards her, she had slipped on her gown from the floor.

I watched as she slowly turned her back to me, holding her hair up. "Zip me up?"

I eyed her skeptically, then groaned. "You're pushing this."

"Please," she begged.

I sighed and stepped closer as she waited still. I pulled the zipper up carefully as the fabric hugged her curves tightly.

Suddenly, she pushed herself back and pressed her ass against my crotch. Shit, I had a feeling this was coming.

I didn't have time to react as she lifted herself up, cradling my cock in the process, then whispered up to my ear. "I know you still want more. I can feel how hard you are right now."

She was right, I loved the feeling of her against me. But I couldn't dare it again, I gripped her arms and pushed her forward firmly. "Enough."

She turned, smirking up at me then grabbed my suit jacket, and pulled it open slightly. She slipped a small paper inside the pocket. "My card. In case you ever need that better stuff."

I didn't react. She closed the jacket, tapped my chest with both hands playfully, like old times. "You look good, by the way," she added all of a sudden. "You've added a few pounds, more muscle. Sexy as usual, of course."

I ignored her still, keeping a straight face all the way. I turned towards the exit, expecting her to follow me.

"I know I look good too," she called after me. "You don't have to say it."

I kept walking, then she hurried to catch up with me. "How am I getting home?"

"How'd you get here?" I asked bluntly.

"It's late. Give me a lift?"

"No."

"Come on, Papito. Just help me out."

"No, Issabella. The fuck?" I nearly yelled.

"Come on, please," she begged.

"Issabella, you need to realize that there's nothing—" I couldn't finish as she cut me off again.

"Must there be something between us before you can help me? Come on, Dante," she pleaded.

I groaned. What's the worst that could happen, right? "Fine. Come on."

She did a little jump and squeal, before slipping on her heels quickly and followed after me as I stepped out.

I led the way out and down the stairs, through the empty kitchen, to the back lot where my car sat. She spotted it as we got close and exclaimed. "Oh wow, new ride! I like this one."

I unlocked it with a click on the remote. "Get in."

"Can I keep it?" She teased, sliding into the passenger seat.

"No."

She laughed as I got in and started off the engine. We pulled out into the empty streets which had gone quiet at this hour.

The ride dragged on while Issabella started chatting right away. "So, what's new in Chicago? Still ruling with an iron fist?"

"Same old," I replied flatly.

"Come on, give me more. How's the family? Nico still lurking in your shadow?"

"He's fine."

She shifted, facing me from the corner of my eyes. "You were always a man of few words. But remember that trip to Madrid? We talked all night."

I grunted with my eyes on the road. "Left or right here?"

"Left. No—wait, right. Sorry."

I turned right, holding back a curse. She messed up two more times, wrong turns and the worst part, she kept laughing it off. "Oops, my bad. Next left—no, straight."

Frustration kept bubbling up, but I kept it tamed for the moment. I gave short replies when I had to and focused on directions mostly. Then finally, we rolled into her neighborhood. A fancy high-rise.

"There," she pointed. "That's my place."

I pulled up at the curbside. "Okay."

She didn't move though. Just sat there with her bag in laps.

"What are you waiting for?" I asked.

"You want me to go like that?"

"What are you waiting for?"

She rolled her eyes, turned to the door but I stopped this time. "Did you take the pills?"

She laughed softly. "Haven't changed a bit, still scared."

I ignored her and reached into the glove box and pulled out the packet. I popped two out and handed them over to her with a bottle of water from the console.

She took them, still smiling. "You carry these around now?"

"Take them."

She swallowed the pills and gulped down the water. Afterwards, she opened her mouth wide and pulled her tongue out, showing me she had taken it. She shook her head, amused and turned to leave again.

But she fumbled with the door handle for seconds. "Can't open this."

I ran a hand over my hair and leaned over to help, but she grabbed my face quickly and pulled me in.

She crashed her lips into mine, stealing a kiss that lingered slightly as I couldn't find it in me to pull back. She pulled back after a few seconds with a smile, waved her hand at me then opened the door with ease before skipping out.

I watched her go, boiling inside. That kiss, it felt—

I shook my head rather, before pulling out of the curbside.

The clock on the car hit 4 a.m. I've not shut my eyes in over 24 hours now, they felt heavy. I rubbed them, trying to focus. The road blurred slightly.

Then—bright blinding light from my right invaded my space. I didn't have time to think as what followed next was a loud bang.
