Chapter 115 Crazy Van

Chapter 115 Crazy Van
Serena's POV

I looked around as fast as my head could turn. From Dante, to Nico, looking for answers.

Dante looked so furious as he stared around the woods. Nico did same, like they were expecting something.

Would someone just say something?!

The rest of the cars had long stopped behind us, some even stepped out.

“What's going on?” I finally asked as I couldn't take the silence any longer.

No one answered at first as they all looked to be making sense of it too. Then the driver touched a few buttons on the screen of the control whatever.

A sign popped up after he was done, something that looked like what phones showed when they kicked off due to a flat battery.

Could that be it? A flat battery? I won't want to believe they didn't charge this thing before coming.

“You charged it right?” Nico asked the driver and he nodded in response.

“It couldn't have drained down so fast,” he muttered.

“Except…”

He let the word linger in the space and slowly, Nico got the message and stiffened.

Then Dante stepped out, quickly followed by Nico and the driver. I refused to be left inside alone before the car blew up, so I joined them.

As we came out, more of the other men stepped out of the waiting vehicles and marched towards our car carefully.

Dante exchanged glances with Nico and they both picked up their phones, staring down at it and tensing up the more.

I looked around as each other person checked their phones and I was left wondering why they were checking.

Then, I slowly picked my phone out of my pocket, lifting it to my eyes slowly.

And to my greatest shock, it was powered off. I tried turning it on but it refused, I struggled but nothing happened.

I could swear that I'd enough power just a few minutes ago. But looking up, I realized that something was wrong, and it wasn't particular to me.

Dante looked up, staring at the woods before his hand slowly went under his suit jacket.

“It's a trap!” Dante yelled and everyone scrambled.

I didn't move till I saw bullets tearing through the ground and bouncing off the car.

I ducked and rushed towards the back before a strong pair of hands went around my shoulder and led me back.

“File in!” I heard Dante shouting and looked up to find him standing by a particular car and firing back at the men.

I wondered for a second why he was leading us into the cars when I saw those ahead reviving up.

I then noticed the difference in the models, of course Dante would drive around in an electric car.

I was guided into the car just as a bullet hit the shoulder of the guy leading me. He screamed clutching his shoulder but banging the door shut.

Dante jumped in by my side with Nico sliding into the front and another to the driver's seat.

“Drive!” Dante commanded and the car slid out as the rest moved too, moving as fast as they could.

The car swerved to the right immediately as a bullet tore through the tire of the car ahead of us.

The affected car spun to its left and nearly toppled over, but crashed into another car.

Our car swerved left sharply, just about evading a tree as it got too close to the woods.

I could barely keep my ass down on the seat as the car was moving too fast for comfort.

I practically wore my heart on my chest, sitting up holding to the door for some sort of support.

Dante looked around, staring between the woods and the road. “These bastards drew us in!” He yelled as another car ahead toppled over.

We were reaching the junction as every other car ahead of us had been taken out. But just as we neared the junction, a large van pulled up, covering the space.

“Turn!” Dante yelled just as the side of the van lifted and bullets rained at us.

The driver turned to his right just as the bullets were fired. Unfortunately, that put me directly in front of the fire and I shrieked.

“Duck!” Dante yelled and reached over, pulling me down just as the glass shattered and spread everywhere.

The car crashed into the woods, swerving left and right, pushing us from either side.

The firing didn't stop, if anything, it followed us till the trees shielded us from their onslaught.

I peeked out as the driver turned just about evaded a tree and brought the car to a forceful stop.

Dante slowly lifted his hand off my shoulders and I raised my head slowly, looking around at the mess that was left.

Dante looked around quickly, holding out his gun and looking alert. I looked through the broken glass to my side, noticing how large they were.

I picked up a piece and stared at it in shock.

“Broke right through the bullet proof glass like it was nothing,” Dante announced with a slightly enraged voice.

Nico turned around to us from the front. “How do we get out of here?” He asked with his gun raised too as the driver turned as well, leaving the engine running.

I instantly felt small in their midst as these were three dangerous men who have been rocked by one master plan.

“We find a way to get out of here from another route,” Dante answered.

“And the rest of the men?” Nico asked with heavy breaths.

“They'll need to find their way, there's literally no way we can go back for them. Communicate with them and let them know we'll be leaving,” Dante replied hastily.

Nico nodded and leaned over as he typed into his device fast.

“Get us out of here,” Dante instructed towards the driver but just as he turned to hit the gear, we heard a loud rushing sound from behind me.

I turned and shrieked as the van had returned and it was coming straight at us.

“Move! Move! Move!” Dante yelled and the driver fidgeted with the controls slightly before rolling the car into drive.

We luckily moved before the first shot as it crashed into a tree where we were.

But the van wasn't slowing down, and unlike us, they didn't necessarily avoid the trees, they just turned a bit and ran through the sides of the trees as they van had the power to withstand that.

The car pushed as it could and I sat on the edge of my seat, panicking slightly. But the van gained in on us fast.

Dante and Nico began firing back at them and like it got them angry, they sped through an open space till they were by our side.

I watched in horror as small holes popped open from the side of the van, and barrels slotted out.

“Oh no,” I exclaimed and before I knew it, bullets came flooding right at us, right at me.
