Chapter 293: That Piece Was for You
Charles's lips twisted into a bitter smile. He hadn't seen Grace for almost a month now, so even if he wanted to tease her, he couldn't.
Bianca furrowed her little brows and pouted, "If you didn't mess with Mom, then why isn't she coming out to play with us? She always says she's busy."
Charles pressed his lips together and was silent for a moment. "Maybe Mom really is busy."
Bianca shrugged, feeling a bit helpless. "Alright then."
She leaned against Charles, looking out the car window, her eyes following the falling snowflakes.
Jasper sat quietly on the other side, staring ahead with a calm expression. His clean little face showed no emotion, making it hard to guess what he was thinking.
Charles glanced at him and slightly curled his lips. Jasper clearly hadn't told Bianca about the divorce between him and Grace.
Who would've thought that despite his young age, he had such deep thoughts.
Grace drove to the venue for today's conference and parked her car. She stepped out and walked into the hotel near the art academy.
The place was beautifully decorated and felt warm, with many teachers from the art academy present.
Asher was there too, chatting with others. When he saw Grace, he quickly ended his conversation and walked over to her.
Grace's reputation, known internationally as Sun, drew attention, and people gathered around her and Asher.
The conversations were mostly polite greetings. Grace, not being close to these people, smiled and exchanged pleasantries.
After the greetings, Asher led her to a seat. The conference hadn't started yet, and many people were still arriving.
Grace sat down, picked up some snacks from the table, and started eating casually.
Many people were chatting, and Grace listened while munching on her snacks.
Suddenly, a commotion arose. Grace looked towards the noise and saw a crowd of women at the entrance, chattering excitedly.
"Mr. Montague, you're here!"
"You're so handsome, Mr. Montague!"
Grace paused her snack-eating. Just from the name, she knew Milo had arrived.
This was supposed to be a conference, but it seemed to have turned into Milo's fan meeting.
Asher found it absurd and cleared his throat a few times.
Immediately, someone stepped in to maintain order and dispersed the women admiring Milo.
Finally, Milo's handsome face came into view. He was dressed in a casual suit, looking trendy, with one hand in his pocket, exuding a charming laziness.
He walked forward, and Grace waved at him.
Milo smiled and, seeing an empty seat next to her, sat down.
The women who had been dispersed still stared at Milo with adoration.
Asher glanced at them, smirked, and picked up the microphone. "Alright, let's get to the main topic."
With his words, the previously chaotic room quieted down.
The host began explaining the purpose of the conference, emphasizing the importance of professional exchange.
The conference was informal, allowing everyone to speak freely.
After the host's introduction, Asher announced the start of the free discussion time.
Immediately, people stood up to find others to talk to.
A few people interested in painting approached Grace for a discussion.
But most of the crowd, mainly women, surrounded Milo, making his seat almost inaccessible.
One of the female teachers, eager to know more about Milo, asked directly, "Mr. Montague, your fingers are so long. If I'm not mistaken, you must teach piano, right? How do you interact with your students during lessons?"
Milo answered calmly, "Yes, I teach piano."
He clearly didn't want to answer the second question.
His brief response made the atmosphere awkward for a moment.
Grace, sitting next to him, couldn't help but smile at his answer.
Despite the awkwardness, another female teacher persisted, smiling as she asked, "Mr. Montague, besides teaching piano, do you interact with your students in other ways during lessons?"
Milo replied coldly, "No."
Grace almost burst out laughing and quickly turned to look at him.
Even in his casual suit, his posture was elegant and composed.
Grace smirked, guessing he didn't want to deal with these people.
Despite his cold responses, the female teachers didn't want to leave.
As the atmosphere grew increasingly awkward, someone in the crowd suddenly shouted, "Mr. Montague, since you teach piano, you must play very well. Could you play something for us?"
Immediately, others chimed in, "Yes, Mr. Montague, please play a piece. We'd love to hear it."
One person started, then three, four, and soon many joined in.
Soon, even those engaged in discussions stopped and looked towards Milo, all eagerly anticipating.
Milo frowned, seemingly unmoved by the crowd's expectations, remaining silent and still.
Curious about the commotion, Asher smiled and encouraged, "Mr. Montague, since everyone wants to hear you play, why not play a piece?"
Milo still didn't respond. He slowly turned to Grace, "Do you want to hear it too?"
Faced with his sudden inquiry, she instinctively nodded, "Yes, I do."
Only then did he stand up and walk towards the nearby piano.
He sat gracefully at the piano, his long fingers poised over the keys.
At that moment, everyone watched him silently.
The anticipation was palpable, and Grace, like everyone else, stared at him.
Soon, his fingers pressed down, and beautiful music filled the room.
The melody was enchanting and crisp, instantly immersing everyone in the music.
Everyone was captivated, watching his fingers fly over the keys, producing a tune that was sometimes joyful, sometimes somber, but always beautiful.
When the piece ended, the room was silent, everyone still lost in the music.
Soon, someone shouted, "Mr. Montague, play another piece! We haven't had enough."
Milo didn't respond but turned to look at Grace.
Grace was startled, suddenly meeting his gaze, feeling a bit dazed. When she regained her composure, she quickly looked away.
The crowd's cheers grew louder, many wanting him to play another piece.
But Milo remained silent, making the atmosphere awkward again.
The conference seemed to have turned into Milo's fan meeting, which Asher found inappropriate. He spoke up to help Milo, "You can listen to the piano anytime. Let's disperse and get back to our discussions."
With Asher's words, it felt inappropriate to keep pestering Milo.
The crowd, disappointed, reluctantly dispersed.
Milo stood up and returned to his seat.
Grace, lost in thought, didn't notice him coming back, only sensing someone beside her.
The conference resumed, and discussions filled the room.
Grace, still deep in thought, suddenly heard a man's magnetic voice, "That piece was for you."
Grace looked up, surprised, instinctively turning to Milo.
He rested his arm on the table, his cool gaze fixed ahead.
Wasn't it Milo who spoke to her?
Who had just spoken?
Grace brushed her hair aside, pondering if Milo had said that.
She considered asking him.
Just then, the people who had approached her earlier returned to ask about painting techniques.
She decided not to ask Milo.
