Chapter 77: Veiled

“What you’re saying is that Meredith have died twice and come back from the dead twice? How is that even possible?” Claudia said with utmost disbelief in her eyes, this was something she had never heard before in all her years and experience of being a leader of a pack.

“She trapped Elaine’s consciousness inside of a dream and trued to take advantage of the fact that she couldn't use her power there and eliminate her for good but we were lucky that Giselle came on time to help out the weary situation Elaine was in” Edgar replied and there were tiny murmurs in the room between all the members of the vouncil.“

What do you mean by that? Giselle is forbidden within these walls” one of the elders spoke.“Yet she came in and saved the life of our young queen” Edgar replied with a straight look on his face.

“She betrayed this pack and her kind is an enemy to the werewolves of the white stone pack” another elder spoke.“Yes she is, but she is no enemy to those of the red and blue stone packs and I have chosen to work with her as my right hand” Elaine said and the noise in the room only intensified instead of subsiding.

“Your majesty, are you sure that this is the best thing to do right now? Are you sure this isn’t because she saved your life from the hands of Meredith? What if she has other plans to give you up to Meredith once she gets here?” The man said and Elaine only stared at him while he spoke, when he was done she was quiet for a while before she spoke.

“Do not speak to me in such condescending and insulting manner again, I am your queen and I will inform you on what I want to do not to ask of your consent, but to let you know so as to not clash some things that go on” Elaine replied and shivers went sent down the spine of everyone who sat in that room that had an intention of standing up and going against her, she was the queen, and it would remain that way no matter what they all plan to do.

“Can we now move forward to what we plan to do when Meredith get to our gates” Claudia said ignoring the drama that just unfolded before and it left the elders looking with their mouths wide open as they couldn’t believe that she okay with what Elaine was about to do.

“I don’t mean to be disloyal but I have to speak, Giselle cannot be brought back to roan the streets freely, she’s our prisoner and I suggest it stays that way” the elder spoke and before Claudia could speak up, Elaine replied him.“

A young child at the age of 7 watched her whole clan get killed for a little mistake that wasn’t punishable and even if it needed to be, it could have cost only one life but instead a whole clan was killed for it, she grew up without parents or any persons to talk to locked up in a big building for seventeen years of her life, and you still feel like she’s a threat to the werewolf race? Of course she is” Elaine said and they were all shocked.

“You kept her locked up for far too long and now we will set her free, and if you insist we lock her up again, well Meredith that’s on her way will be the least of your worries because the bigger danger will be just behind your great citadel” Edgar replied and they all thought about it carefully.

“So if you all do not mind can we donwhat we actually gathered here for?” Claidia said before Elaine cut her off.“

There will be no need for that, she’s already here” Elaine said as she stared at a blank space on the wall behind were Edgar sat.

“Who are you talking to love, there’s no one here” Edgar said as he looked back snd saw an empty space he thought that Elaine was going crazy as he have noticed few changes in her actions since she woke up from the attack.

“Why are you hiding yourself? Are you scared?” Elaine said again.“

Hello Elaine” Meredith said as she reveled herself exactly where Elaine looked at her from and a dark, chilling wind swept through the room. The candles flickered, and the temperature dropped dramatically. She felt like death and she had a presence filled with misery, the unmistakable presence of the power of death filled the chamber.

“I see you've been preparing, chosen one," Meredith's voice echoed through the room. Her form was veiled in darkness, and her eyes glowed with a certain light that gave off the evil her mind though of.

"I’ll love a fight Meredith, but we can find a way to restore the balance without resorting to chaos and destruction." Elaine said with an expressionless look on her face that made Meredith more curious about what was going on in her mind.

Meredith laughed in mockery, a resonating laughter that sounds like it came from the septs of hell and it sent shivers down the spine of those who weren’t strong enough to stomach it.

“Balance is an illusion, Elaine. The world craves power, and I am here to give it to them. You can join me, or you can watch as I reshape everything." Meredith said walking closer hoping to scare but Elaine stood her ground and kept straight face.

“We won't let you plunge our world into darkness. We'll stop you, one way or another, that I can assure ." Edgar aid and she laughed again this time much more loudly as she hoped to make a point.

“I cannot be stopped, that is something you both should very well know, I suggest to you that you both step back and let me collect what is truly mine.

“I’ll do what is necessary to stop you from destroying the lives of many people” Elaine said.

“You can only do that much, because we both know that the power of who lives and who dies remains with me and it will stay that way till my mission is accomplished” Meredith said in a low deadly tone that made every word she said more serious than before.

“We’ll fight back, I hope you’re ready for what we have for you”

“Very well then, let the battle begin." Meredith said and laughed again for a while and this time her laughter turned to a menacing growl, she had a plan and it was going to work whether they all liked it or not, she was going to rule over this world sooner or later snd nothing they would do will be able to stop her.

“I have become so weak, I never for once thought that my power could reduce to tjis extent” Skylar said as he struggled to get out of bed with the help of his father that supported his arm.

“You’re not weak, your body is only broken and I have found a way to heal that” Damien said as he gave him a warm smile.“Are you being serious?” Skylar said as his face lit up with happiness.

“Yes, you will be fully emerged into water and brought up again, it’s what they call the baptism of souls, then your soul will be strong enough to rejuvenate your body and bring you back to life.

“And what if it doesn’t work?” Skylar said with a tinge of doubt in his eyes.

“It will work Skylar, I’m very most certain it will” Damien said reassuring him and Skylar believed him.

“Where are we headed to?” he said as he became tired of walking.

“Just somewhere close by, we’re almost there” “Where exactly is this place?” He said as he looked down at the big sea that surrounded the giant building they stood in.

“This is the Island of Nath, the homeland of Vampires, many years ago before the rebellion, the vampire royal family lived here in peace and love, entertaining guests from different races not knowing that their enemies were the one they called friends. The humans became intimidated and weak in ruling over supernaturals, as they allowed their decisions to be made by the faction that paid bigger taxes and that wasn’t the vampires, it was the werewolves. The vampires decided to take action and go against the werewolves, no matter how convincing they were, the other factions sides with the werewolves and a war broke out, with the vampires being at the most disadvantage. The war lasted for years and the more intense it became, the less stronger we grew” Damien said.

“Why were we not growing any stronger?” Skylar said and Damien replied.

“We fed on animal blood back then and when the war broke out, we all retreated to this islands were they were no much woods for animals to dwell in. So we began starving ourselves until one day a rogue vampire, came down here and made us know that human blood was much more better than animal blood and it will make us faster, and better if we take a satisfying proportion but instead of us to do that, we abused it and drank it excess. And it slowed us down, made us impossibly stupid and we went to wars without any plans at all. All these years, the vampires have always been the cause of their own problem but we’re going to change that narrative, we’re going to make ourselves worthy of being the kings of the earth and when we’ve done that, we will rule without checking out backs for who is coming after us just like the werewolves are doing today” Damien said as they both stared into the horizon looking forward to that very day.
