Chapter 59: Edgar’s Corruption
“How did you know that?” Brandon as fear became evident in his eyes.
“Elaine doesn’t have a foul scent, she scents like flowers” Edgar said and at that moment, the figure that had changed from Elaine to another thing disappeared.
Finally, they reached the chamber where Rachaela held Elaine captive. The sight was chilling and Edgar was angered. Elaine was unconscious, covered in blood and bound by mystical chains, while Rachaela stood over her, her dark eyes bright with rage as she stared at Edgar and Brandon.
Without wasting a moment, Edgar releases the mistletoe, which began to fill the chamber with a soft, purifying light. Rachaela recoiled in pain, her powers weakened by the ancient herb., she wailed in pain as she felt her soul burn inside of her.
Claudia's men swiftly moved in, their silver chains at the ready, binding Rachaela and preventing her from escaping, they chained her to a pillar and poured mistletoe round where she stood.
Rachaela struggled, her face contorted with rage, but she was no match for the strength
the mistletoe carried neither was she a match for Edgar rage. Weakened and powerless, she could only watch helplessly as her plan fell apart, she thought she had all of it under control but that was not the case, she was far from being in control and now she regretted why she hadn’t listened to her father when he told her to end everything and rest in peace.
With great care, Edgar and Brandon they released Elaine from her chains and gently they woke her up to make sure she was okay. Confusion filled her eyes at first because she was scared that it was just one of those tricks again, but as she saw Rachaela chained to the wall tears welled up in her eyes and she was so happy to see Edgar and Brandon who had rescued her from the evil witch’s hands. She embraced Edgar tightly as she missed him and his awkwardness.
“Thank you for coming back for me” she said with a weak voice.
“Of course, I’ll do anything for you” Edgar replied and she was so happy to hear what he said.
Their mission was a success, and Rachaela, now powerless and bound, could no longer threaten anyone. They left her in the depths of the crypt and returned to white stone citadel.
"You've done a great service today, Rachaela's reign of terror is over and Elaine is back home in one piece” Claudia said to Edgar's corruption as she approached them in the courtyard as he carried Elaine in his arms gently.
Edgar nodded, a sense of accomplishment washing over him. The threat had been vanquished, and Elaine was safe.

“You’ve done a lot, I appreciate you for that” Edgar said as he and his corruption stood face to face.
“There’s no need to thank me, we are one person and this is just two sides of us whether we like it or not” the corruption replied.
“Well, I think its time I go back out there, now that Rachaela can no longer do anything to me” Edgar said.
“Yes, you should and maybe one day, we will learn to merge as one soul” the corruption said.
“Yes, one day” Edgar replied.
“Goodbye Eddy” his corruption said
“Goodbye to you too Edgar” Edgar replied.
Eddy woke up to find Brandon staring down at him like he had been doing it all the while he was asleep.
“What the f*ck Brandon, what are you doing staring at me like that?” He said completely startled and springing up from the bed.
“You’re back, that’s really you” Brandon said very excited that his best friend was finally back home.
“It’s been me all this while, what are you talking about” Eddy said.
“I am not Edgar, I am his corruption, did you say that?” Brandon said and Eddy paused for a while pretending to be confused.
“You’re talking rubbish Bran” Eddy said.
“You see, you’re not the one that have been here since the day of the war, your corruption has been in charge for a while now” Brandon said.
“Where’s Elaine?” Eddy said not wanting to hear kore of Brandon’s gibberish.
“She should be with the physicians, why?” Brandon said waiting for his reaction.
“That means she’s getting better” Eddy said and Brandon questioned again if he was there when they rescued her.
“I’m beginning to doubt who you really are” Brandon said as she squinted his eyes trying to get the color of Eddy’s eye in the dark room but he couldn’t get it.
“Let’s go see her Brandon, we need to know how she is” Eddy said and they both walked out of the room together, walking side by side like old times.
“Now everything’s back to normal” Brandon said as he smiled feeling that pride that he always felt whenever he walked by Eddy’s side as his most trusted man.
“What do you mean by that? What have been abnormal all this while?” Eddy said making Brandon confused again.
“Eddy, you’re trying to say that you have been yourself all this while but you’ve been pretending? You’ve been behaving like you aren’t from this universe?” Brandon said and Edgar burst out laughing.
“I’m just kidding with you” Edgar said smiling.
“Not funny Eddy, not funny” Brandon said as he smiled brightly that his friend was finally back.
“I know that Brandon, I’m just kidding with you” Eddy said as they both enveloped each other with a hug.
“So you want to tell me how your body was here and you weren’t?” Brandon said.
“That’s story for another day brother, for now we need to make sure Elaine is doing okay because we have a maying ceremony to prepare for” Edgar replied and Brandon paused for a while before he processed what he just heard.
“You’re really going to do it?” Brandon said completely surprised.
“Of course what am I waiting for, I think its high time it happened” Edgar said and Brandon was more than happy for him.
“I’m so happy for you” Brandon said.
“If you let this slip out of your mouth, I’ll kill you Brandon” Edgar threatened as he kept a smile on his face.
