Chapter 13: HOUNDS

Skylar signaled the hound to take them and in one swift moment, Edgar moved towards the human hound, snap his neck and he falls to the ground. Elaine is amazed at how fast he was, she have never moved that fast all her life maybe that’s his special gift from his stone.

“You’re fast I see” Skylar said with a psycopathic smile on his face.

“Don’t forget who I am Skylar, you may sit on the throne but I am the one with the stone” Edgar said with a cold, icy tone.

“None of it matters Eddy” Skylar replied.

“Release the girl Skylar” Alexander said and Skylar laughed.

“She’s my wife and she’s facing a punishment for being infidel to her husband” Skylar said smirking.

“Why take us prisoners? Its not like it really concerns us that you plan to kill your wife? We’re only here for Brandon, who is the only one here that actually cares if she lives or die” Elaine said with a lazy look on her face.

“You’re not a smart man Skylar” she added and there was visible rage in his eyes.

“What’s a guest doing snooping around the pack house by this time of the night when there’s a party inside?” Skylar said with a smile on his smug face.

“She’s my guest and my responsibility so mind your damn business Kai” Edgar said in a low but defensive tone.

“Well I’m the Alpha of this pack and I need to protect my subjects can you argue with that?” Skylar responded in an arrogant tone and it reminded Alex just how badly he needs to take back his birthright.

“No, not yet” Alex said after a long while of silence.

“Why don’t you let them go and take me as a prisoner instead? Besides I need to be punished just as much as her” Brandon said and Edgar turned towards him giving him a signal to keep his mouth shut or he might get them into a bigger trouble.

“That seems like a fair deal to me” Skylar said and Brandon walked into the house himself.

“What the fuck are you doing Brandon?” Edgar telepathically said to him.

“Don’t feel burdened brother, I’ll be alright ” Brandon replied before he walked into the house.

“Come on Elaine, let’s go” Edgar said holding her arm gently.

“What about Bran? Are we not going to save him” Elaine said looking confused why Edgar will leave his best friend there with those evil men.

“There’s nothing we can do, he brought it upon himself” Edgar said as he walked away with Sapphire following behind.

“Edgar!! Are you really serious about this?” Elaine stopped and said but there was no response from him.

“Yes I am” he said looking nonchalant.

“Do you know what those men do to innocent people? They rape, they kill, they destroy lives and you want to him to remain there?” she said looking at him as she waited for a tinge of remorse but there was none.

“I know Elaine, but we are not going back there” Edgar said and after few moments as they stood there, she noticed his focused in something else.

“Listen to me carefully, I need you to go back to your room and stay there. I need to go back” Edgar said hastily.

“Why the sudden switch up?” She said looking surprised.

“My brother was watching us and he was probably hearing what we were saying so I had to keep up the act” Edgar said.

“He knows you will still go back for your friend” Elaine replied.

“But he’ll not know when” Alex said and turned to walk away when she held him.

“Be safe Eddy” She said.

“I will, go now” he replied and walked back towards the human hound house and Elaine went back to her room.

Elaine’s POV

I was restless, few hours ago Edgar left to break Brandon out and there was no word from the both of them. I wondered if something had happened to them, or maybe it just took very long to kill the human hounds.

I continued pacing around when I heard a knock on my door, I turned to see who it was but my shoulders fell in disappointment when it wasn’t Eddy.

“What is it Oliver?” I said lazily.

“Alpha Skylar sends for you in his chambers” He said and I froze where I sat, I knew what Skylar wanted and I wasn’t ready to give it to him not in this life or in the next.

“Oliver, Tell him I have retired to bed” I said and Oliver immediately did as I asked.

The reason why Skylar was so hellbent on making me his wife was what I did not still fathom no matter how much I thought about it. And I heard another knock on the door this time it was Randy.

“What is it Randy?” I said to him in a frustrated tone as I was worried sick about Eddy and Brandon

“Alpha Skylar sent his manservant to bring this note to you” he said and walked closer to me stretching his hand for me to take the note. I opened it and read the content.

“Eddy is probably dead by now so will all his allies and guest be dead by morning. You can stay in your room and wait for someone who will never come back, or you can come up to my room and take a place as my Luna”

I read it and I could hear my own heart race faster, I had gotten more nervous about Eddy’s safety.

“No one is allowed into this room apart from Edgar and if Skylar sends his man servant again, tell him to go back with whatever rubbish Skylar has sent him” I said my voice a bit shaky as I felt a cold sensation in my body and fear run down my spine.

“Yes, My Lady” Randy said and turned to go when he paused and turned to face me again.

“My Lady, are you sure you are okay?” He said with his brows furrowed in worry, I didn’t want to burden him with my own worries.

“I am alright, just a little tensed” I said giving a fake smile that faded away immediately.

“Okay My Lady, I’ll be outside If you need me for anything” he said and walked towards the door.

“Don’t forget Randy, No one but Edgar” I said again just to make sure that he doesn’t forget my instruction.

“Aye” he replied and stepped outside closing the door behind him, I still felt unsafe so I hurried towards the door and bolted it.

I continued my wait for Edgar, one that has gone on for far too long. The night flew by and it was already breaking dawn when I saw smoke rising to the sky. It was from the direction of the human hound house, I felt hot tears run down my cheek. What if something happened to them? What would I do?

I heard loud footsteps coming towards my room, my heart sank in my stomach. The person got to the door, and there was a pause for a while. Suddenly a knock came to my door, I was hesitant to open the door as I was scared of who it may be.

“Who is there?” I said and there was a long silence before I heard a voice.

“Open up Elaine” the voice said and I opened the door hastily, I was so relieved that tears flowed down my eyes.

I flew the door open to see Eddy’s huge body completely covered in black sooth, I hugged him despite how he looked. I wrapped my hands around his neck standing on my toes and he wrapped his arms around me holding me firm to himself.

“I thought I lost you” I said with tears in my eyes.

“Come on now, I won’t go away that easily” he said and I chuckled lightly.

“How’s Brandon and Hayley?” I said as soon as we disengaged from the hug and I saw a sad look on his face.

“We lost Hayley, she was trapped inside the fire, Brandon is completely heartbroken and blames himself for her death” He said and I felt the sadness too, I barely knew Hayley but her death pricked my heart because I knew that she would have made a very good ally.

“That’s so sad” I said helping Eddy sit on a chair, he had a burn on his lower abdomen. So immediately he sat down, he removed his shirt that he wore for the party last night. I stood at a place watching him and when he was finally done removing his top clothing, I stared at him, he was perfectly muscled and his body build was the finest I have ever seen, but my eyes trailed down, I noticed something disturbing and gasped in fear.

“Elaine! Elaine!!” He called my name with the little strength he had in him.

“Yes, what happened to you?” I said with worry in my voice.

“Mountain ash got into the wound,” he said and I could only imagine the pain he was going through.

“What do you want me to do?” I said hoping to be of help in this situation.

“You need to burn it out of the wound” he said groaning in pain.

“No, no, I can’t do that” I said panicking as I paced back and forth.

“Its no big deal, just bring the candle and the lighting stick, when you put the lighting stick in the fire, you put it in the wound” Eddy said it nonchalantly like he’ve been doing it for a while.

“Okay, I can do this” I said trying to reassure myself as I grabbed the materials he asked me, I moved closer to him.

I followed his instructions and did exactly as he directly me, when the fire touched the wound, Alex screamed in pain.

“Arggghhhh!!!” Eddy screamed as the mountain ash inside of him burned out with the flame.
