Chapter 76

Archer

The night was cold, but I felt super hot. I paced up and down as I waited for Savien. At this point, my head was banging, and I couldn't think straight.

Scared was an understatement, and I've never felt like this before after my father died. I ran my hand through my hair multiple times, making it messy.

Loose strands of hair on my face were damp from the sweat on my forehead.

“Found her,” Savien exclaimed, and I immediately rushed to the screen in front of him. The GPS tracker shows that they're at an old dockyard at the far end of the city. “That fucking…” I inhaled sharply and adjusted my gun.

“Let's move.” We left with some of our men just in case.

After what felt like forever, we finally got to the place. It was very old and dirty. I stood there quietly, my eyes scanning the surrounding buildings. "You sure this is the place?" I inquired.

Savien checked his tablet again, then nodded. "This is where the signal stopped. She's here.”

We crept forward, ducking behind crates and broken-down machinery. A dim light flickered in one of the storage units.

"Let's check that out." I pointed.

Savien nodded and cocked his pistol. "You ready?"

"Always."

We approached the unit slowly, back tight against the wall. With a heavy breath and some hesitation, I reached for the handle when Savien’s hand suddenly grabbed my wrist.

“Wait,” Savien whispered. “You hear that?” I was confused. I remained calm and listened attentively.

A faint click. Then silence.

A minute passed, and then gunfire erupted from the shadows.

“its a fucking ambush!” Savien shouted, pulling me back as bullets rained down from the rooftop and side alleys.

We ducked behind metal containers.

“Son of a—how many?” I shouted over the gunfire.

“Too many to count!” Savien fired a few shots blindly. Our men didn't waste time and immediately joined. “This was a setup!”

“No kidding!” I growled, pulling out another clip. “They knew we were coming.” that motherfucker, he thinks im that easy to get rid of. Well he's fucking deceiving himself.

“But, how did they know that we were coming? They couldn't have randomly guessed that the bracelet had a GPS in it. Fucking hell.” Savien cursed under his breath.

“We’ll deal with that later. We need to push out of this kill box.”

We moved in sync, and I was covering while Savien moved, then switching. The attackers wore black, faces masked, their gunfire relentless.

“Take cover!” I yelled.

Savien nodded and darted to the side, rolling behind a stack of crates. He took down two men with clean shots.

“Three down!” he called.

I fired at a rooftop shooter. “Four now.”

The sound of metal clashing echoed as one attacker jumped down and rushed me with a blade. I blocked him with my forearm and shoved the barrel of my pistol under the man's chin, then fired. The body collapsed with a thud. Music to my ears.

“I don't think Elena is here, sir,” Savien said as he walked towards me.

“Yeah no shit, these guys totally fucked us up. That pius, son of a bitch.” The last of the attackers lay still. Silence fell.

Savien scanned the area. “Is that it?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” He answered. I lowered my weapon slowly. “This felt too easy,” I muttered under my breath as I scanned the area, nothing but just bodies.

A slow clap echoed from behind the shadows.

We both whipped around, guns up.

From behind a container, a tall figure emerged. Black coat, cruel smile, and cold eyes.

Puis. That fucking bastard.

“Bravo,” Puis said, his voice smooth. “I almost believed you’d die tonight. Almost.

I guess I always underestimate you, just like I did years ago.

I mean, you are ‘the Archer’, the slayer. Haven't gone soft ever since he took his title.”

My jaw tightened. “Where is she?”

“Now now,” Puis said, raising his hands mockingly.

Savien stepped forward. “You’re going to regret this.” He didn't loosen his grip on his gun, and neither did I.

Puis chuckled. “I already regret not killing you years ago. This time, I won’t miss.”

My finger hovered over the trigger, and a smile crept to my face. “ What makes you think you can kill me this time around you bastard? I should shoot you right now.”

“Then do it,” Puis smirked. “But you won’t find Elena before she gets taken out.”

I froze. My heart started thumping so hard when he said that.

“Eight months, eight fucking months. You hid her away, you thought you could hide her forever? God, you're so pathetic.”

“How did you find out that she was pregnant?” His smile widened as he looked at me

“Well, i had a little help from your whore. She is very obsessed with you and won't stop at anything to have you.”

I clenched my fists in anger. “What?”

“Crystal helped you?” Savien exclaimed. I should've expected this. That woman had been nothing but trouble. I should've ended her that day.

“Yes, dear brother. Your girlfriend helped.”

I glared at him with daggers in my eyes. “Don't you dare, address me like that ever again.”

“Oh, you're no fun. Are you mad because my mother married your father just to kill him?”
