Chapter 514 Alvin's Absence
Chapter 514 Alvin's Absence
After solving such a major concern, Juliet felt that even if she didn't take action, Ally could still annoy Luann like a pesky fly.
Even if it wasn't harmful, as long as it disgusted Luann and made her a little uncomfortable, Juliet would be very satisfied!
Ally had no idea what Juliet was thinking; otherwise, she would have grabbed Juliet's hair and slapped her face a few times.
After parting ways with Juliet, Ally immediately called her overseas buyer.
"How's it going? When will you ship my order? The money has been in your account for several days!"
The other person stammered, "Uh... I..."
Ally felt a pang of anxiety.
Thinking about the big talk she had just put on in front of Juliet and the envy she had endured, she felt even more anxious.
Could it be messed up?
Ally couldn't help but get a bit agitated: "What's wrong? Speak up!"
"I'm at work right now, don't worry. Since I've taken your money, I won't renege on the deal! I'll ship it to you tomorrow!" The other person said hurriedly and then hung up, sounding very busy.
The woman irritably slumped over her desk.
A name tag hung from her chest.
Anouk Reed.
Her name was Anouk Reed.
Workplace: Sunflower Sales Department.
In front of her was a box of valuable jewelry, even the outer packaging was exquisitely designed.
The intricate carvings were perfect handmade works.
Just the box alone could fetch a good price.
Suddenly, a voice startled her.
"Anouk, where's the 'Eternal' set I asked you to keep?"
Anouk shivered and hurriedly handed over the 'Eternal' jewelry set on her desk to the staff member.
The other person glanced at her and smiled kindly, "You've only been working here for a week, are you getting used to the environment?"
"Yes, I am!" Anouk stood up, her eyes lingering on the Eternal set. "Why did you ask to keep a set aside? Is it reserved for someone?"
The manager replied, "No, our boss requested it. The day before Eternal went online, the boss specifically called to ask me to keep a set aside. I guess it's for some purpose."
"I see, but Eternal is really expensive. A set of jewelry costs over a hundred million dollars." Anouk swallowed hard.
"Yes, that's why it's a limited edition. Otherwise, how could it highlight its value?" the manager said.
"Won't there be more made? It's such a good piece, only making ten sets seems like a waste. After all, the designer put a lot of effort into it," Anouk hesitated, hoping there was still a chance to change things.
The manager shook his head.
"Every limited edition has its significance. How could you ask such a silly question?" The manager smiled helplessly, looking at her like a child. "There are still three sets in the warehouse that have been reserved with deposits. Pack them up and send them out. Oh, and don't touch the set labeled 'sample' in the corner."
"Got it."
Anouk agreed and got up, quickly heading to the warehouse where she found the three sets of jewelry.
And the set labeled 'sample' with a white paper tag.
"Why is there an extra set of Eternal?"
Anouk picked it up.
If not compared to the real Eternal, it was almost indistinguishable to the naked eye.
Only a professional could tell that this was actually a flawed set of jewelry.
To be precise, this was just an initial sample, with fake gemstones.
She thought for a moment and decided to take all four sets.
Ally had contacted Anouk online, confirmed she was a Sunflower employee, and then transferred the money for Eternal to her, even generously giving Anouk extra money.
Originally, such a valuable Eternal set shouldn't be handled by a newcomer.
But Anouk happened to be in charge of this jewelry shipment, which led her to have some crooked thoughts.
If this set of jewelry didn't get shipped, she wouldn't get the money.
That afternoon, Anouk tore off the white paper tag, packaged it, and sent it to the Upper West Side via courier.
Under the streetlight, the bright fiber optics cast a shadow on a tall, slender boy.
The streets on both sides were empty, with only a few standing lamps creating patches of light.
"Three hundred and twenty-six."
Alvin wiped the sweat off his forehead, skillfully placed the bottle on the ground, stepped on it to flatten it, and tossed it into the burlap sack he was holding.
Looking back, he felt a sense of accomplishment.
"Seems like I'm not that useless after all."
Oddly enough, Alvin felt a great sense of pride in this.
After all, in the Curtis family, he was good for nothing.
He had almost squandered all the money his parents had given him!
If it weren't for Luann helping him out a few times, he would have been...
Thinking of familiar people, Alvin looked up helplessly at the cold streetlight and slapped his forehead.
"It's been a week, and no one has noticed I'm not home?"
"Not a single person?"
"Alvin, Myron, do you still remember me?"
After so much time, Alvin had perfected finding the most profitable spots each day.
A rough little hand landed on his shoulder.
Alvin turned around to see Emily smiling brightly at him.
She gestured.
Alvin could now understand some simple signs.
"Okay, let's go home."
The two of them, carrying their spoils of victory, happily walked back.
At home, Trevor sat by the bed, smiling weakly and looking at them lovingly.
"I'm starving."
Alvin muttered, watching Emily skillfully cook pasta.
Soon, three bowls of pasta were ready.
In the past, Alvin wouldn't even look at such food, but now he ate it with great joy.
"Yum! So delicious!"
"So good!"
Alvin ate a whole big bowl and burped contentedly.
Trevor looked at him and suddenly coughed, "Alvin, you've been away from home for so long, haven't you tried to contact your family? If you need a phone, I can borrow one for you, or find a public phone booth."
Alvin's face stiffened slightly.
"I don't remember a single number."
