Chapter 50
When James referred to Jennifer as nothing more than the pack slut for always being there when he needed her, her eyes widened and heat rose in her face. It was not from shame or embarrassment of being called out for how easy she gave herself away but in anger that she had put all that work in to lure the alpha’s favor. All of it was for nothing! She stared up at him for only a few heartbeats of time before she struck hard and fast, her open palm connecting right across Jame’s face, the slap so forceful it caught the alpha off guard and his head snapped to the side. Jennifer realized her mistake immediately and as James slowly turned his head back towards her with a glare, she recoiled from him, already trying to back away to safety but the alpha was faster.
James reached for Jennifer when she turned to bolt from him, his hand gripping her hair and without a word he was dragging her towards the door. “You are no longer welcome in my home.” He said in an ice cold tone as he half drug the she–wolf to the door. “And if you ever… Step out of your place again, you will find yourself looking for a new pack. NOW GET THE FUCK OUT!” he roared at her as he opened the door and tossed the naked woman out into the hallway.
Everyone in the pack house could hear the argument between Jennifer and James. A few people were at the end of the hall looking on as Jennifer stumbled to the floor in the middle of the hallway. Cassidy was one of those people. She had just finished unpacking and re–packing her backpack when she heard the yelling. She was going to go down to the kitchen anyways and find herself a snack since it had been days since she had a real meal. When she stepped out of her room and into the hall, it was then she realized it was Jame’s voice she heard roaring on the other side of the door in anger.
Cassidy had not even taken her hand off her own door when the door to the room directly across from hers opened and James threw the she–wolf that had been so rude to her outside directly at her feet. Cassidy looked down at Jennifer who had stumbled down to her hands and knees and looked back up her with pure hatred in her eyes.

“GO!”
The sound of Jame’s voice shook the hall and made both women jump, but Jennifer was the one to move, getting to her feet and running as fast as she could out of Jame’s sight. Cassidy watched her flee like a frightened pup and she couldn’t stop the smirk that was on her face. Until she looked over at James who was still standing in the doorway of his room. His green eyes were intense, raking slowly over her body with a possessive growl. The growl he gave her warmed her blood and her wolf wanted free as much as James‘ did.
The two alphas stood still, looking each other over, both feeling the need of their wolves to be together. Both falling into that haze that drew mates to one another like magnets. Cassidy was the first to snap out of the haze when she had unconsciously taken a step towards him, she shaking her head and clearing her throat. “I… I was just going to get something to eat.” She explained and then frowned deeper. Why was she explaining anything to the alpha?
“Cassidy… I can explain.” James said suddenly, worried that frown meant something completely different. He was struggling, holding his wolf back and fighting the draw to her. He promised her she could make her own choices and he had told himself he would keep a distance. Maybe putting her right next to his bedroom wasn’t the greatest of ideas now that he thought about it.
She held her hands up as if to ward off any kind of explanation he was wanting to give to her. “Hey. I get it. I don’t judge. You are an alpha and can have anyone you want. I’m sure you have too…” she said in a slightly bitter, jealous tone. “What you do is your own business.” She told him before she turned and headed down the hall. Her wolf was putting images in her head, thoughts of her marking the alpha out of jealousy so no other female would dare to come within scent range of him. She picked up her pace a little when she realized James was following her, her heartbeat speeding up. She just needed to get away from him for awhile, Get some fresh air. Yes, that was exactly what she needed.
James scowled when Cassidy got the wrong idea about what was going on in his room. He had stood, dumbfounded at her remark for a second before he hurried to catch up to her and when she started to speed up to try and escape him, James reached out and gripped her arm, pulling her to a stop. He looked down at her and her emotionless face, her brow that arched up at him in question as her eyes glared at him. Her golden eyes were filled with all the emotions she was trying to hide and he forgot for a moment what he was going to say. “Theres pulled barbecue pork in the fridge. Its the best you will ever have.” He said, deciding to drop the argument he was about to have with her. He let go of Cassidy’s arm and quickly headed back up the stairs to his office where his father was sitting again with an amused ‘I told you so‘ expression on his face.
“Shut it, old man.” He growled before sitting back down and pulling the papers out. “Hunter and Jaxon have been digging… With the information we got out of one of the rogues, we have a lead on who their so called king is… We just need to find their den. The rogue said their leaders name was Sam.*
