Chapter 39: A Kiss Before The Storm.
Jade.
Eric held up the small black casing, and the officer beside him narrowed his eyes.
“There is a CCTV camera here,” Eric said again, turning it over in his hand.
My stomach twisted. The camera wasn’t supposed to exist.
Not here.
Not now.
Before the officer could take it, sparks suddenly jumped from the side of the wall...crack!
The wire attached to the casing jerked violently, like someone was yanking it from behind the narrow corridor.
“What the hell...” one officer shouted as all of us stepped back. The wire zipped inward, disappearing into the dark corner like it was being dragged. Another crack of electricity lit up the wall.
“Someone is tampering with it!” the officer yelled, rushing toward the back of the building.
Eric and two officers immediately followed.
I backed away, my heartbeat climbing into my throat. When they rounded the corner…
Nothing.
No person.
No shadow.
Just a faint smell of burnt plastic and the wire on the ground like a dead snake.“Who the hell would risk getting electrocuted just to disconnect this thing?” Eric muttered.
My voice came out smaller than I intended.“There’s a way we can check who touched it… if the internal chip wasn’t fried.”
They all turned to me at once.
I gulped.“I..I can show you,” I stammered, stepping forward.
“Jade, take it easy,” Eric said, reaching for my arm.
But my legs were already moving.
Too fast.
Too shaky.
My foot hit the edge of the slippery tile. I didn’t even have time to gasp.
I slipped.
My body flew sideways...straight into the pool.Cold water swallowed me in one breath, dragging me under the surface. Bubbles burst around my ears. My chest squeezed tight.
Then strong hands grabbed me.
Eric.
He plunged in without hesitation, clothes and all, pulling me up to the surface.“Jade!” he yelled, voice cracking.
His hands cupped my face, pushing my wet hair back. “Are you okay? Shit...breathe, look at me...are you hurt?”His panic bled into his voice, raw and unfiltered.
The officers who followed us stopped at the edge of the pool, exchanging awkward glances. One of them cleared his throat.“We’ll… give you two a moment.”
They stepped away.
Eric’s palms moved over my arms, checking for injuries. “Damn it, Jade, you scared the hell out of me.”
“I’m fine,” I whispered, breath shivering. “I just slipped.”
“You could’ve hit your head,” he said, voice softer now. “You really need to be careful.”
He slid an arm under my back, lifting me slightly in the water like I weighed nothing.
My heart thumped loud enough for me to hear it in my ears.“Eric…”His eyes dropped to my lips.
And just like that, the air between us changed.
Thick.
Warm.
Pulling.
He leaned in first. His mouth crashed into mine, hot even with the cold water surrounding us. My fingers curled into his wet shirt, and he pressed me against him like he couldn’t get close enough. The kiss deepened...slow at first, then hungry.
His hand moved to my waist, gripping me as his lips dragged down to my jaw, then back to my mouth, tasting me like he forgot the world was still spinning around us.
I breathed out a shaky moan.“Eric…”
He whispered against my lips, “You drive me crazy, you know that?”
He kissed me again...longer, harder. He grabbed my breast as he slowly unbuttoned my top.
I moaned, and guarded his hands down my panties.Getting wet by Man and Creation is something every lady should kill for.
The water rippled against us with each movement.
He laid down slowly,. parting my thighs as he rolled his hand slowly inside my pussy.
"Fuck." I moaned, adjusting myself so he can penetrate easily. Somehow, he knows the right places that kick my ass off to cloud nine.
"Don't stop..." I muttered as he leaned closer,. sucking my nipples. I held his dick, rubbing it slowly, feeling how hard he is... Fucking hard. He is too hot.. Too hot to resist.
Then...
Ring!
Ring!
His phone blared loudly from the poolside.
Eric froze.
His lips still brushed mine, but his body stiffened.
He pulled back slightly, breathing hard. I followed his eyes to the phone screen glowing on the tiles.
A female name flashed across it.
He swallowed.
Jaw clenched.
He reached for the phone with wet fingers and answered it.“Yeah?” he said, forced and casual.
“I’m… I’m nearby.”
I watched him, still in the water, my hands dropping from his shoulders. His expression changed...subtle but sharp enough to slice me.
“What? You’re already on your way?” he said.
Silence.
Then he cursed under his breath and turned his face away from me.
When he ended the call, I whispered, “Eric… what’s wrong?”
He looked anywhere but at me.“My fiancée should be here anytime soon.”
The words hit me like a slap..He pulled away from me instantly, swimming toward the edge. He climbed out without looking back and began grabbing his shirt, his shoes, anything he could find.
“Eric...”“
We shouldn’t have done that,” he snapped, running a hand through his wet hair. “This was a mistake. I need to get ready before she gets here.”
“A mistake,” I repeated quietly.
He didn't answer.
He just kept dressing in a rush, leaving me in the cold water with my chest slowly tightening.“I’ll talk to you later,” he said sharply, and without another glance, he hurried out of the gate.
The moment he left, I finally climbed out, dripping, leaving a trail of water behind me as I went inside to clean up the mess.
I scrubbed the tiles. I wiped the slippery patches. I tried to steady my breath. But my mind was screaming.
His Fiancée...He has a Fing Fiancee...My stomach churned. After what felt like forever, I heard voices outside.
Soft.
Laughing.
Familiar.
I walked toward the gate, towel wrapped around me, still shivering.
I froze.
Eric was there.
But he wasn’t alone.
Sasha... tall, slim, wearing a short pink dress and holding her phone like she owned the universe.. stood in front of him. She was rubbing his chest playfully, leaning in close.
I hid behind the half-open door.
“Sasha?” Eric sounded surprised.
“I missed you,” she said sweetly. Then her tone sharpened. “And I came to warn you.”
“Warn me about what?”
“That girl,” she said, her voice lowering. “Jade.”
My breath hitched.
Sasha continued, “If anyone died here today… Eric, check her first. She’s not as innocent as she pretends.”
My fingers curled against the doorframe.
“She’s trouble,” Sasha whispered. “I know her type.”
Eric didn’t reply.
He looked torn.
Confused.
Guilty.
And then...Sasha pulled his shirt collar and kissed him.
Hard.
I stepped fully out of the doorway at that exact moment.
My towel dropped slightly. My breath stopped...Eric’s eyes widened when he saw me.
Sasha pulled back slowly… smirking when she noticed the shock written all over my face.
Everything inside me shattered.
And the only sound in the air was the dripping of water from my hair…falling to the ground like a quiet warning.
