Chapter 30 Confess Now
Maryanne raised an eyebrow at the word “cousin“. He wouldn’t even admit she was his wife.
“Your cousin? Are you sure?” Her voice dripped with icy disdain.
Trevin frowned and wondered, “Why does this woman seem familiar?
“With Ms. Delacruz present, I couldn’t risk exposing Leona as my wife.”
The crowd behind him glared at Maryanne.
They thought Maryanne killed Leona in public.
“She’s my cousin! Why did you murder her?” Trevin spat. Leona’s asthma attacks were fatal without medication.
He’d once thought her stylish clothes meant wealth, but she couldn’t even afford a down payment.
He felt his years were wasted.
Now dead, he could marry Sharron.
“This is my friend, Leona. What kind of ‘cousin‘ is she to you?”
“My aunt’s daughter,” Trevin declared boldly.
Maryanne’s expression darkened.
“Your name?”
“Trevin!”

His face changed.
“You don’t believe me?
“Hand her over. I’ll arrange her burial.”
Trevin walked over.
Maryanne stepped back and glared. “You didn’t even check if she’s dead. Or is this what you wanted?”
Leona, awake, heard every word. Her heart shattered.
She had no more feelings towards the Duffy family.
Trevin froze.
His mother’s shouts had blinded him. He’d hoped Leona’s untreated asthma would finish her so he could get rid of her for good.
His gaze shifted to Maryanne, who had a stunning face and sharp features.
He felt that it was a pity that she was friends with a nobody.
“Miss, I don’t know what grudge you hold against my cousin, but letting her die without calling an ambulance… What’s your game here?” Trevin feigned grief.
Maryanne frowned.
“This man’s acting is nauseating,” she thought.
“Surrender now, and we’ll spare you the humiliation,” Nancy Marsh, Trevin’s mother, barked.
Latoya watched from the crowd. She thought, “Maryanne was wronged. Cristofer must see this.”

She turned to fetch him but froze as a group of well–dressed men approached. Their leader, a middle–aged man, exuded authority.
Latoya squinted and thought, “Where have I seen him before?”
She couldn’t remember his name for now.

Meanwhile, Maryanne faced Trevin. “Trevin, you know why her asthma flared. You and your mother abandoned her. Now you frame me? Pathetic.”
Trevin and Nancy paled.
“Liar!” Nancy shrieked. “You killed her! Admit it!”
Maryanne scoffed. How did they know she was dead?
Her icy glare made Nancy shudder. How could someone so beautiful feel so cold?
Beautiful women were terrifying.
Latoya seized her chance. If Maryanne went to prison, a little “accident” could bury the secret forever.
She stepped forward, sneering. “Maryanne, leaking company secrets wasn’t enough? Now you’ve killed someone. Confess now! Everyone’s watching.”
