Chapter 15 Theft
“Hello?”
Cristofer’s voice crackled through the line, laced with disdain and contempt. “Maryanne, I never imagined you’d stoop so low. You actually stole the Jimenez Group’s confidential documents for their new product line? Maryanne, we just broke up–how could you do this to me?”
Maryanne’s gaze fell, a chilling fury tightening in her chest.
“Cristofer, what are you blathering about at this hour? I have no interest in your company’s products. And I advise you to stop slandering me.”
“1
“Maryanne, Mariana already confessed. You called her and demanded those documents. The new product files were in that box. And she confirmed you paid her to steal them. You wired 200 thousand dollars to her account.
“Maryanne, you have one hour to return those documents. Or else, I will personally come to get you.”
Cristofer’s voice roared, thick with rage.
Maryanne opened her mouth to retort, but the line had already gone dead.
Stefanie, noticing her fury, stepped forward, her brow furrowed with worry. “Miss…”
Maryanne rose, her entire body vibrating with icy fury. “Call
Geovanni. Dig into Mariana at the Jimenez Group. I want every detail

of her recent activities within ten minutes. Also, have Maggie pick me up. I’m going upstairs to change clothes now.”
Dark fury burned in Maryanne’s eyes.
Stefanie dialed quickly. Once everything was set, Maryanne descended the stairs.
She briefed Stefanie on the situation at Cristofer’s company, telling her to stay home.
Stepping outside, she found Maggie already waiting in the car.
With a subtle shift, Maggie reclaimed her original face–strikingly different from the one she’d worn at the mall.
Her features were sharp, her bone structure commanding. While the skin may fade, bone structure remains timeless.
Maggie’s features, while not quite as striking as Maryanne’s, possessed a captivating charm all their own.
“Boss, if I recall correctly, weren’t you employed at the Jimenez Group under a different name previously?” Maggie inquired as she navigated the streets.
A flicker of something unreadable crossed Maryanne’s face, the usual spark in her eyes dimming slightly. “I was there for a year.”
Their marriage, that brief year, was a secret known only to her.
Reflecting on the past four years, a sharp pang resonated within her, and she quickly pushed the thoughts away, unwilling to dwell on them.
Maggie, however, seemed to grasp the gravity of the situation instantly. A string of curses erupted from her lips, fueled by anger,

“Damn them! Who do those people in the Jimenez Group think they are? At best, they’re just nouveau riche; at worst, they could be bankrupt by tomorrow. Accusing you, Miss, of stealing their lousy new product plan? Where do they get off?”
Her anger simmering, Maggie parked near the Jimenez Group building.
Geovanni’s intelligence had already landed in her inbox.
As Maryanne scanned the data, her already frigid gaze turned to absolute ice. Then, she dialed Cristofer.
“Hello?” His voice came through, thin and strained.
“I’m not setting foot in your company. Have the relevant parties meet me at the main entrance.”
Cristofer’s tone dripped with sarcasm, “Oh? You want to air this out in public?”
Maryanne shot back, “Are you afraid? Cristofer, you have no qualms about using your influence to slander me. Can’t I at least let everyone see the truth?”
Cristofer remained silent for a beat, then abruptly hung up.
Maryanne and Maggie waited in silence at the main entrance.
Moments later, a procession emerged from the entrance, led by Cristofer and Latoya.
Cristofer, clad in a perfectly tailored black suit, cut an imposing figure. His tall, upright stance exuded both masculine power and a subtle, dangerous elegance, evoking the image of a devil with wings etched
from bone.
Maryanne deliberately averted her gaze from Cristofer. His penetrating

stare sent a wave of unease washing over her.
A bitter taste filled her mouth. Divorced for barely a month, and already Latoya felt no hesitation frequenting his workplace so publicly.
Latoya fixed Maryanne with a look meant to convey sorrow, though it held a distinct edge of triumph. “Ms. Nielsen, I understand you must be upset and hurt, but this is utterly unacceptable. Can’t you see how vital this new product is to Cris? With it, coupled with the new partnership, the Jimenez Group could truly soar to new heights. Ms. Nielsen, your actions are deeply malicious. This is nothing short of theft.”
