Sonia and Rodrigo looked around, pointing the gun everywhere dramatically until they looked at us and realized we were safe. Sonia's shoulder dropped in disappointment.
“I was ready for some action.” She said.
“Me too,” Rodrigo grumbled. I grabbed the pillow and threw it at him.
“Us being in danger is not something to be excited for, you asshole.”
I walked off and went into the bathroom to freshen up from all the sweat building up in a place that has no business being sweaty. He walked into the room a minute later.
“Are you okay?” He asked and I let out an exasperated breath.
“I am fine, just stressed out. My mind isjt used to this type of thing yet, having to watch my back in case someone wants to hurt me is tiring. I don't know how you guys have done it for so long.”
I looked up at him, pitying all of the violence and heartless things he and Nicolas have had to see. Here I was complaining when he has seen more death and heartache than anyone has, he has even caused it. He lifted me onto the counter, the cold feeling easing the sore feeling from his belt last night.
“Nothing will happen to you as long as I am around, baby girl.” He assured me.
“You can't promise me that.” I dropped my fingers onto his chest.
“I don't want you putting my safety before yours or Nicolas. What could have happened if he ran into that scary man and got hurt.”
“Nicolas and I would put ourselves getting hurt over you and Sonia any day and nothing you say is going to change that.” He placed his hands on my hips.
“That is why you are in training, you will start understanding soon enough that people like that man don't deserve a second chance. He was going to hurt you badly.”
Realization dawned me and I started understanding what he was saying. In this life, not everyone deserves pity, they don't deserve the benefits of the doubt. Some people just aren't kind-hearted and I needed to understand that.
“I know,” I looked into his eyes.
“I get that now.”
“Good,” he muttered.
“The sooner you start applying that into training, the better. I will protect you as much as I can, but if you knew how to defend yourself as much as I do, you would thrive in our world, sweetheart.” I nodded
He moved his hand up to my throat and held it with a firm grip before pulling me in for a reassuring kiss.
The rest is the day, we stayed inside, both him and Nicolas went back down to the cars to bring up our stuff from home, including Fiona’s stuff as well. We ate the now cold lunch and sat down to watch some movies. I looked beside me where Nicolas was cuddled up into Sonia's chest, fast asleep. I looked on the other side where Rodrigo was resting his head on the couch, also asleep and I contemplated for a moment before grabbing his head and laying him on my chest too. He snuggled up pretty quickly, wrapping his arms around me. The warmth radiating off him calmed my tense nerves, my mind still not able to get over what had happened today. Who was that man? Why did he want me?
Knowing that all this was because of someone who had a problem with me filled my heart up with guilt. I couldn't keep letting Rodrigo and Nicolas save me all the time, I needed to woman up and take care of myself, for real this time. But for now, I will just sit here with my family and cuddle up.

Rodrigo Pov
After Nicolas and Sonia left their room, we went to bed soon after. Abigail was sleeping beside me while I was trying to get to the bottom of this whole thing. There was no trace of who had broken into my office, no one saw who that dickhead going after Abigail looked like nor did they have any trace of him. Thoughts were running through my head wildly, making me go crazy from all this confusion. Who the hell wanted to hurt her and why?
For the first time, the person coming after us seemed like they knew what they were doing. They knew the inside and outside of all of this, as if it had been someone on the inside, someone we trusted. My phone started ringing, I looked down at the screen. My face fell when I saw who it was.
“Hello?” I said as I picked up the call.
“I need you and Nicolas in Shomul now, I have got someone here who stole a shipment of drugs last week but he has got back up with him.” His irritating voice got to the point.
“I don't have enough men to deal with it, so be here by the afternoon tomorrow.”
He didn't let me speak and hung up the call. I growled in utter frustration and then called Nicolas. He told me we could put security at the penthouse door until we get back so the girls would be safe and I agreed. I looked at the cock and saw that it was just nine in the night.
“Wake up, baby girl.” I pulled Abigail into my chest, dreading having to leave her.

“I..umm, I will just go pack. I will make you guys some coffee and pack some snacks.”
