Chapter 9

Lysandra~~

An idea struck my mind first, so I checked for any CCTV around the room. Luckily, I was able to locate it. I hit my footwear towards it and watched it shatter to the floor.

A sinister smile curled at my lips while I searched for another. By the time I was done, I put on the work dress of the lady, took her membership card and began leaving the room elegantly.

The goal was to make a way to the balcony and just find a means to leave before they noticed the camera being tampered with, and just as I was heading to the elevator, I heard a familiar voice and quickly stepped back.

My pupils dilated as I pinned my back to the wall, my breath hung in my throat while I waited for him to pass by, so I would be sure I was guessing right.

“Has she eaten something? She doesn't need to starve.” I heard him speak, as though he was with somebody, and then they walked past where I hid. “I wonder how she would feel seeing me bring her here. She must be happy as well, because my brother is too dangerous for a damsel like her.”

I took a hard gulp, breathing endlessly.

Jonathan! Jonathan!! That fucking dude.

What was he thinking? That I would stupidly be an amulet for a grown-up man like him?

I believed he wasn't different from his brother.

He wanted me as his bride, and then his brother showed up and claimed me instead. Doesn't it mean they had something in common that they were after? Was there anything special about me?

And I knew so well my uncle was aware of how dangerous it could be marrying into that family, yet he approved of it and still told me that I had no choice. He didn't sound like he was being persuaded to give me out in marriage…it was like he was into a deal, and of course, he must be getting something in return.

Then why did he talk ill of Ramsey? Was it just Ramsey who was the bad person, or did Uncle not know?

Since I knew they were heading to the room where I was kept, I used the elevator and made sure to tamper with the camera too. Whatever route I took, I got the camera damaged because I knew so well that was the only way for me to keep track and not be caught.

I was able to find the balcony, and yes, it was indeed a hotel as I thought.

There was no door leading out to the balcony, and that was frustrating. I had to stand for some time, trying to come up with another plan. My whole body trembled, and I feared I would pass out if I didn't hold tight.

Footsteps came from behind, and I froze, my eyes watered. By the time I sensed whoever it was to be closer, I nudged my elbow, targeting the person's jaw or chest. I slammed my elbow into his chest, and he staggered backwards, then I rushed closer and hit him into unconsciousness.

“At least, I can make people unconscious. Except Ramsey. That devil is something else.” I mumbled while stripping the guard.

I hid and dressed up in his uniform, and although he was taller than me, I still looked good in his clothes.

Luckily, I happened to meet female guards when I showed up at the main compound, so I didn't look so suspicious. I felt a car key in the pocket of the trouser and took it out, pressed the green button, and the car beeped.

Smiles curled at my lips as I walked towards the car. I stepped into it, started the engine and zoomed off the compound without being asked several questions.

I had that feeling that the car bore a tracker, but I aimed to be far away from the hotel, so I could park the car somewhere and escape to another area.

The area I rode in wasn't familiar at all, and I didn't bother because for seven years, I hadn't been given freedom, so I knew fewer places.

I rode carefully until I reached the traffic junction and had to hit the brake, only to notice it wasn't working. I slammed my foot on it repeatedly, my heart skipping, yet it didn't respond.

With my heart palpitating than I could control, I focused on controlling the car steering, thereby dodging other cars. But I was smashed heavily from behind and couldn't stand looking through the mirror.

I struggled to keep in control while the vehicle behind kept pushing mine forward. My cries for help did nothing, my palms trembled on the steering and I lost my soul that very moment.

My heart sank into my belly as I sighted a pole ahead, and my car's engine seemed to have been turned off, so the vehicle from behind was only pushing it. I dragged the steering wheel, tried as much to start the engine again so I could divert away from the pole…only for a car from nowhere to smash into mine from the side loudly.

I lost control. My hands went off the steering wheel.

By the time the car stopped moving, I slammed my head on the headrest of the car seat, and dizziness smacked me heavily.

I forgot how to breathe. My body quivered.

When I tried to move my body, I noticed it had gone numb and wasn't responding, so I sat still there, staring through the windscreen.

I felt something cold run down my cheek, and when it dropped on my dress, I saw it was my blood.

Someone came trying to unlock the door, but since I couldn't help, he began hitting the door heavily with whatever it was he had.

I saw him clearly, the tears that welled in his eyes, the anger and pain that struggled to stay still in him, his contorted face.

He found me again. How does he do it?

I tried to smile, because I finally had hope to survive, but I couldn't move my lips…yet my heart fluttered, even though my lycan was yelping.

The car door made a creaking sound, and then it was drawn open.

He cupped my face with his palms. His lips moved, but I didn't hear him.

Soon, I couldn't see his face clearly. My vision blurred gradually until I was drawn into darkness.

In my heart, I pleaded and prayed…

‘Ramsey, please save me, even if this is the last time.’
