Chapter 146: 146

Lysandra~~

“Aren't they too much already? Why are you thinking of having some more?” Miriam asked me who was busy taking a closer look at my baby clothes and the several baby items I had gotten. I had just one month left, and I would put to bed.

The thought scared me, and also excited me. I'd watched several clips of women birthing their pup, and it wasn't an easy process. But each time I recall that my mum went through that to bring me into this world, I still had a reason to do the same.

Also, I wanted to carry my pups, watch them closely until they fell asleep.

When I went for a scan days ago, I couldn't believe I was having twins—a boy and a girl. But then I recalled how my mum was a product of twins, but her twin sister died, as she told me. That being recalled, I knew it was in my bloodline, so it wasn't supposed to be something to wonder so much about.

“Luna,” Miriam called me out of my thoughts. “Look at this. It's a breast pump.” She giggled, and I nodded at her. “I'd wanted to see what it looks like, and I hope to have one if I ever have a pup.”

“Now I remember…” I adjusted closer to her and whispered. “...what's going on between you and Clement? You two are seeing each other?”

She couldn't hide her smile and slowly nodded.

I finally understood why Clement looked furious when she mentioned him by name.

“How long has it been?” I asked her again.

She sniffed and curled her legs together on the floor, “Do you remember that day he broke up with his girlfriend?”

I nodded, “They separated for real, right?”

“Yeah! So you know, he took my contact as someone working for you, and I saw his call that evening, and he sounded so drunk. I had to go after him from the address he managed to give, only to find him drunk.”

My eyes popped wide. “Drunk? Why would my PA do that to himself?”

“I guess he was so broken. You didn't know, but I slept over at his house.”

I dropped the cloth I was holding. “Are you joking with me? You slept over at his place?”

She nodded and didn't even look like she was remorseful. “I prepared everything for you and left that night, because he didn't look so good to be left alone. He threw up so many times at night, and if I weren't there, his home and he too would have been a mess.”

I sighed and leaned back, my legs spread wide for my comfort.

“So, when he woke up, he couldn't believe I was still around and even prepared him a hangover soup.”

“Are you saying that you two started dating because you took care of him?” I tried to inquire because it sounded so dumb to me.

She shook her head, “Something happened between us until we had our first kiss. I left anxiously, thinking it would end there, and I didn't want to ever see him again. But he started hitting on me, and we went on a date.”

“Oh, my sweet goddess!” I muttered, smiling at her. “Now you two are a couple.”

“Yes, Luna! He's so loving, and I understand why his girlfriend wanted to get back to him after he woke up from a coma. My mate rejected me because of my status, and I don't even care about matebond any longer.” Miriam stated and exhaled heavily.

I patted her head a bit, “He could choose you as his mate.”

“I'm scared he will leave me if his mate returns….”

“Why would I?” Clement's voice came from the doorpost, and I chuckled. “I thought we talked about this already?”

Miriam stood up, bowed to me, and began going to meet him.

I so much loved how they looked fit for each other, and it just made me happy as though they were my family.

He took her hand, kissed it, and they left the building. I loved how they weren't hiding it, because I had always believed that secret relationships don't end well.

I packed up everything and took them upstairs one after the other, then organised my baby's room, and also their bed, which was in our main room, where they will lie at night until they are over six months old.

I got so excited that every damn time, I came to check on the stuff to be sure it was intact. I even slept in the baby's room that night, and Ramsey had no choice but to join me.

Two weeks later…

“I'm very weak. I don't want to do anything and just sleep here.” I said to Ramsey once he turned off the car engine.

He took my hand, "I'll carry you in, okay?”

“Did you forget that we are three here? How are you going to carry us?”

“That's why I'm an alpha!” he whispered to me, and I giggled.

But the moment he opened the door to alight, his beta came forth with a contorted expression.

“Are you going to sell us off?” Ramsey asked, staring at the man who didn't look good.

Hunter bit his lower lip and breathed out first, “The councils are gathered against you and your Luna for the first time since they took the positions. There is proof that you are into lycan trafficking, which has been your means of income, and then your Luna carried the pup for your brother, whom she spent weeks in his house with.”

I shut my eyes for some time, hoping that everything I just heard was all lies. But after I opened my eyes, Hunter was still narrating, and Ramsey was listening with his cold looks.

“Honestly, I don't know what to do. I saw the evidence, and they look so real. The investigation bureau has gone into work to find out if everything is true, the Ministry of Justice is also trying…but nothing is adding up yet.”

I swallowed deeply and slowly unlocked the door.

Ramsey turned to me and whispered, "Don't act rashly. I'm going to take you in by myself.”

I didn't argue because I didn't even have the strength. I just stayed there until he came around and carried me into his arms.

When we reached the bedroom, he helped me undress and wear something light to free me completely, then I finally asked him, “Are all those true?”

He shrugged his shoulders, “I have to go to the throne room to see what's going on. Yours aren't an issue when there is a way to do the DNA.”

“I think Jonathan couldn't bribe them, or they wouldn't be investigating without being told. But I'm scared he had gotten physical proofs ready, so the councils would be convinced that he said the truth.” I said and relaxed my shoulders. “I'm scared because I'm almost due. He's after seeing that you lose the throne this time since he couldn't get the company.”

He sat beside me and took my hand, “You have to be strong for me until the end of this. I'm going to dig out the truth.”

I nodded while praying inwardly that I do not get worried about this.

In the next two days, I was to go get DNA from the foetus as confirmation that the pups did not belong to Jonathan. Ramsey had tried, and luckily, the councils refused to take bribes from Jonathan as the first ones did, so it finally came to light that the lycans who were seen in a cave deep in the woods were there for tourism and had no business with Ramsey.

They were there from another clan, but they looked so unkempt, and so Jonathan thought to grab the opportunity.

I put on a simple maternity dress and went downstairs to meet with the chief council minister, who volunteered to drive me himself to the hospital so it wouldn't look tampered.

Nothing was as scary as this moment when everything could be forged.
