Chapter 39 Chapter 39
ISLA
“Are you calling me a whore?” she said. Yea, she was pissed now. She was looking between me and Nikolai, but he still had to say a word.
I saw Wesley walking in. “Madam?” he said, and I stood up and walked over to him.
“What is it?” I asked, and at the same moment Brax walked in.
“Madam, we got incoming," he said.
"Perfect." I said with a smile.
“Why are they calling her Madam?” I heard Sophia ask, and I turned and looked at her.
“Wesley, take Brax to the basement. Also we need a table and a few chairs there; I’ll use the basement.”
“Yes, Madam." He replied and walked off with Brax.
I walked back to the table and continued eating. She was fully staring at me, her hands clenching her fork.
"Who exactly are you, and why do they all show you so much respect?" she asked, and I looked at her and smiled.
“Why don’t you ask Nikolai?" She looked at him.
“Who exactly is she?” she asked, and he put his fork down and looked at her; he had an annoyed look on his face.
“Are you sure you want to know?” he asked, and I heard the undertone of his voice. He was pissed.
"Yes," she replied almost instantly. He dropped his napkin onto the table and sat back. It happened in an instant; the annoyed look he had on his face disappeared and was replaced by a cold, calculating, and ruthless look, and the hairs on my arm stood up.
“Okay, if you answer my question, I'll tell you," he said, his voice cold, and for a second I was scared of him, but she didn't seem to see the change in him.
“Okay, fine," she said sweetly.
“How much information did you give Lucas?” he asked in that same tone, and she froze. I saw her eyes, the panic in her eyes; it was fast, but she laughed, a nervous laugh.
“What? Who is Lucas? What are you talking about?” she asked, but I could hear the panic in her tone.
“Did you actually think I had any interest in you?” He asked if it happened so fast.
One second he was sitting in the chair, and the next he was standing beside her, his hand around her throat.
“Guess who called me a few minutes ago. Arlo called to tell me that you’ve accessed files that you shouldn't have and sent them to Lucas. "You sent wrong information," he said, pushing her. I saw the minute fear took over her.
“No… I didn't…. Nikolai, you have to believe me…," she said in a panic. She grabbed his arm, and he pushed her away; she fell to the floor.
“I don't like to be touched," he said, pulling a chair and sitting down. He just sat there looking at her on the floor. I finished eating and told Maria to clear the table. I stood up and looked at her.
"You… it was you, wasn't it… Nikolai, it's her; she set me up," she said hysterically, pointing at me.
“Why would my wife set you up?” He asked, and her eyes went wide.
“Wi…wife?” she asked.
“I’m heading to the basement with Brax and Wesley. Don’t shed blood in the dining area, Nikolai.”
“I won't, Kitten. I have no use for her," he replied.
“Ares?” he called, and Ares came trotting in.
“Nikolai, don’t let Ares taste blood," I said, staring at him.
“Fine. Ares каблук," he said, and she looked at me.
“Lucas knows I'm here; he won't let this go if anything happened to me. He’ll kill you," she said, and I laughed.
“Didn't Lucas tell you what would happen if you got caught? Don't tell me you actually think you mean something to Lucas Moretti. You’re just someone to use; you’re not even valuable to him. But," I said, a new plan formulating in my mind.
"Why did you agree?” I asked, and she looked confused.
“What?” she asked.
“Why did you agree to do it?”
“I… I…" she stuttered.
“Fucking answer," Nikolia said.
“I was a dancer, a stripper. I needed money for…. For my son’s surgery. He lent me the money, but… the surgery went wrong," she said quietly.
“He died?” I asked, and she nodded.
“He told me I owed him a favor. That he would help me pay the remaining bills; all I had to do was get close to Mr. Ferro and find out anything and everything. He said if I was ever caught to deny it," she said.
I will give you a choice," I said, and Nikolai looked at me.
“You chose. If Nikolai doesn't kill you, Lucas will because you know too much. Either way you die. Work for me; it has nothing to do with the Ferros or Morettis. You agree, and I give you a new name, a new face, and…."
"Yes," she said, cutting me off.
"Natalie," Nikolai said, but I didn't answer him.
“I’m going after the Rhodes. I need someone that knows Riverside City but is a new face. She sure as hell can't walk around looking like herself, or Lucas will kill her.”
“I’ll do it. I swear I won't betray you," she said.
“Fine. Leave for tonight, and Sophia betraying Nikolai will get you death, but betraying me… You’ll wish for death and won't get it.”
“I won’t, I promise," she said, standing up. She put her phone on the table and walked out. Nikolai stood up and walked around the table. He leaned into me, bracing me to the table, his hands on either side locking me in place.
“Just let me kill her; you'll find someone else," he said, leaning in close.
"No, and if you kill her, I won't speak to you again."
He grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him. “Fine. About what we started earlier in my room, we can continue right now, al…..”
I heard the pounding of footsteps. He pulled away just as Jules ran.
“Boss, trouble. "Mr. Ferro had an accident; he was on his way home and was hit by a semi truck," Jules said.
"Let's go," Nikolai said, walking off. I hope Pedro was okay. After he left, I headed down to the basement and found Brax and Wesley waiting.
“Sorry, I had something to take care of. So Blair?” I asked, and Wesely handed me a tablet. There was a video. I pressed play.
Blair was walking around the mall when suddenly she was spooked; she began looking all around and screaming, and then she began pulling her clothes off. Ohh, this was gold. I handed the tablet back to Wesley.
“So Alistair Rhodes has already sent over fifteen messages to the social media account of Isla Valerius," Brax said, and I smiled.
They were getting riled up. This is what I was waiting for.
