Chapter 24 Chapter 24
It was maybe two hours later she walked in wearing a t-shirt and jeans. She came over and sat down beside the bed but wouldn't look at me as she fed me the soup.
“What is it?”
“Nothing,” she said.
“Isla, answer me.”
“Nothing,” she said again. I didn't push her.
“If you’re strong enough to sit up you can eat yourself” She said, walking out. What the hell was wrong with her? I called Jules and Wesley up; they walked in and looked at me.
“What happened after Sophia left?”
“Well, she asked for a minute alone, so we were outside, but other than that, nothing else happened; she didn't get into any altercations or talks with anyone.” Jules said.
“Okay”
After they left i laid there an thought about it, So her anger was from seeing Sophia. But Sophia wasn't as simple as it seemed; I had no interest in her, and she tried. When she started, she entered as an intern. All Vanguard employees were investigated and it turned out she was one of Luca Moretti’s women, and she didn't know she wasn't the only one there were more.
She made multiple attempts to get my attention, so I gave her the chances and then had her promoted. I gave her enough attention to make her think I wanted her, and everything I fed her went straight to Luca Moretti. Luca Moretti was a fucking idiot; he had no head for business or anything useful.
The next morning She came in at seven, said "morning," and left. That was her only interaction with me all week. Friday, around five, my room door opened, and my grandmother walked in. She walked over and took a seat and looked at me.
“Vanguard Global, you have 50 percent shares, i have twenty and the remainder your father and uncles. Now I am the matriarch of this family; be a filial grandson and transfer the shares to me; we cannot have an outsider running our family business,” she said.
“No.”
“Nikolai, I have spoken with the family, and it is decided you will hand the smaller businesses over to your brothers and cousins, and I will take charge of Vanguard.” she said with that air of authority. Suddenly the door opened and She walked in, she was still in her suit with Ares beside her.
“He’s not giving anything to anyone.” She said taking a seat and dropping a file onto the table.
“How dare you? I am Isadora Ferro, the head of the Ferro family.” She yelled.
“The head?” Isla scoffed. “Really should i tell him how the head is secretly running a separate organization with the Rhodes.?” she asked and i looked at her. When did she find that out?
“Or should I tell him how you’re planting spies in every single part of the Ferro family business and you’re now getting into human trafficking?” She asked, and I saw the old lady’s face go pale.
I looked at her. “Now here is what will happen. You have twenty-four hours to return all the individuals and hand over your shares to Nikolai. You will also abdicate your position as head of the family. Nikolai is now the head. Don’t, and I’ll make sure you wake up on a secluded island alone for the rest of your life.” She said, looking at the old woman.
My grandmother looked at me. “Don’t look at him, I make the rules, twenty four hours now Leave.” She said, standing up.
My grandmother walked out, slamming the door. I looked at her. She picked up the file and dropped it on the bed. I opened it and began reading. She pulled her jacket off and tied her hair up.
“Brax found this Wednesday and a lot more because I asked Wesley to have people following them.” She said and i nodded.
“So you know every move my family members make?”
“Yes,” she replied.
She sat down on the couch and rubbed Ares’s head absently.
“Why exactly do you need me to do this? You can do this yourself. Aren't you Hades?” She asked, and I couldn't help but smirk.
“If I do it, I will be a ruthless son, grandson, and family member, but if you do it, no one can say a word.”
“Okay then, I’ll get started on the rest of your family members. I’ll be heading out tonight, i’ll take Wesley with me.” She said,
“Where?”
She looked at me with raised eyebrows. “To threaten someone, would you like to join me Mr. Ferro?” she asked.
“Don’t…” i started saying.
“Don’t get caught,” she finished for me.
“Good”, After she left, I called Oris.
“Mr. Ferro? What can I do for you?” he asked.
“Set it in motion. Contact Wesley.”
“Yes, Mr. Ferro. Disposable?” he asked.
“Correct,” I said, ending the call. I lay back and waited for the result. I didn't need long to recover; this was normal. The only difference is that she was now in the picture.
ISLA
I sat at the table eating my dinner, and Brax’s words kept playing over and over in my head. He said my father and Alistair were partners, and it's possible Alistair was looking at the people that were close to my father.
Martin Lincoln was the one I had to meet, but I would pay Alistair and Vivian a visit before I went there. After dinner I took Ares for a walk. When the clock hit twelve i left my room, I wore black , it was fitting for what i was about to do. I had one of the daggers with me. When I walked out, Wesley was waiting.
“Madam are you sure you can get in?” he asked.
“Absolutely. Do you have what i asked you to prepare for me?”
“Yes, Madam,” he said, handing me a small black case; inside were four syringes. Two were sedatives, and the third was something special. I would make them regret everything they did; I was going to make them scared of their own shadow.
The drive to the Rhodes manor was short; I had Wesley park at the back. There was a hidden path at the back of the manor, a blind spot of sorts. I had found it on one of my many escape tries, and I knew they would never remember it.
Wesley parked five minutes away from the manor and we went on foot. When we got to the clearing, I ducked under the bush and felt for it, still there. I went through the gap in the fence, and Wesley followed behind. I stood there for a second and looked at the mansion. I hated this place, hated what it represented, and hated what happened to me in there.
We used the garden shed and the poolhouse for cover as we made our way to the mansion. When I walked up the patio and turned the handle, it unlocked. The cook always forgot to lock it when he left. We made our way into the kitchen, it was barley any light. I knew this house like the back of my hand; Wesley was behind me.
