'What am I doing with my life?' At one time or another, most of us have asked ourselves this question. For me, this was it – sitting in this car, watching from a distance as the attractive brunette wrapped her arm around his, a girlish grin lighting up her features. One look at her and I could see how she must have fallen into the trap. It must have started with those deceptively charming deep brown eyes, that devilishly handsome face, that tall, strong masculine build that demanded awe, and that dark brown hair which just begged to have your fingers run through them. Oh, trust me, I knew how it all started; the same way I could see how it was going to end. So, sucking in another deep breath, I flung the car door open and stepped out. Here we go. The cool evening breeze blew wisps of dirty blonde hair over my face, but I was quick to brush them away, my footsteps determined as I marched towards the pair in front of me. The first thing I noticed when I reached them was the quizzical look the girl threw at me. The second was the way his lips parted wordlessly when he saw me. And the third, and my personal favorite, was the glaring shock on his face as my hand connected to his cheek in one hard motion. "What the hell!" But I ignored the girl's cry, my attention still fixed on him. "You," I seethed. "You asshole!" This time, he managed to voice a reply. "Look," he started. "I don't know what you-" "Oh, shut up, you jerk!" I hissed, cutting off the rest of whatever lies he was attempting to spew. "So, this is what you've been up to; parading around town playing Mr. Romantic, huh?" "Baby, who's she?" I traced the voice to Miss Brunette, who was now tugging at his arm in between eying me warily. I let out a low laugh at that. "Of course, you didn't tell her about me. Why would you?" "That…I…actually…" I ignored his helpless fumbling and went on, focusing on the girl this time. "What did he tell you? You're unique, beautiful, he could see himself getting into something serious with you?" Her flushed silence was enough of an answer for me. So, I cracked a dry smile. "He's pretty good at making you buy into his bullshit. He told me the same, and I also bought it – hook line and sinker. You'd think after getting me knocked up and leaving me to raise our child alone, I'd know better than to let him put his stupid dick inside me when he drops by my place, wasted, every weekend. But this asshole really knows how to make you a fool." That had the effect I hoped it would, because now, her eyes were nearly the size of saucers, and I could imagine her lovelorn brain suddenly rewiring with this newfound information. And the result of this was evident in the unforgiving edge in her voice when she turned towards him, asking, "is she saying the truth?" Yeah, there was no 'baby' this time. His response however, was to drop his eyes to the ground, a weak: "I'm sorry" escaping his lips. "Oh my god, how could you?" She cried. "I loved you! I was even going to introduce you to my entire family. We had so many plans together." I made a tsk sound at that. "I hate to break it to you, but you might want to make a new plan which involves a doctor's appointment." "What?" "Oh, you didn't know?" I asked oh-so-casually. "Chlamydia. Of course, I blame myself for not using a condom before letting him ride me with his community dick." He shot me a look to which I glowered back at him. She however, had turned ashen, wrapping herself in an eerie silence. But her seeming calmness soon gave way to loud bursts of: "oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!" "Elle, I can expl-" But that was how far he got before he was silenced by her palm connecting harshly with his face, accompanied by a growl of: "you jerk! You'll never see or hear from me again. I want nothing to do with you, nothing!" She shot him a glare to emphasize her point, but when she turned to face me, her expression softened considerably. "I'm so sorry. I had no idea he was with you." "Believe me, there's nothing to apologize for," I mused. "I've realized a long time ago that this prick can never really be with anyone – not with me, not with anybody. Take it from me, all you can do now is to prioritize yourself. Don't let a scumbag like him ruin your life." She nodded dutifully, adding a small: "thank you." And shooting him the dirtiest stare she could muster, she was stalking off, leaving me to stare after her. But it wasn't long before my attention was once again returned to him. "She seems sweet. You're a jerk." And with that, I was throwing him the keys and heading back to the car, with him in tow. But this time around, he was the one in the driver's seat. No sooner had we settled in before his voice floated through my ears. "Chlamydia? Of all things – chlamydia." My lips betrayed a smile, which increased by an inch when he added, "why would you even do that to me? I always knew you were searching for an opportunity to taint my reputation, but that's just heartless." "If by reputation, you mean being a playboy who sleeps with everything with a pulse, then trust me, there's no tainting that; it's tainted enough already," I replied smugly, to which he chuckled. "Look at that, you're dishing out compliments already?" He sallied, earning an exaggerated eye roll from me. Sometimes, I forget what a crazy person he was. "But seriously, Aiden, that girl seemed so nice." "Yeah, and also pretty intense. Who meets someone three days ago, and already makes plans to introduce him to her entire family." "Ok, yeah, maybe she's a little intense," I admitted, to which Aiden threw me a duh look. "But I guess she was too in love with her baby to worry about going too fast," I cooed, leaving us chortling. "You know, for someone who's not in support of me playing around, you sure do enjoy the drama." "What?" I cried, in an exaggerated burst of disbelief. "No, I don't." "Oh yeah?" He echoed, eyeing me with a knowing smirk on his face. "So, the whole slap thing, abandoned child story and then chlamydia." He stopped to make a face at the last one, leaving me grinning evilly. "All of which were not part of the script, were because?" "It added spice, okay?" He nodded, feigning understanding as he said, "ok, sure." But a second later, he was adding, "and how about that?" I didn't need to follow the direction of his eyes or see the way his features lit up with mischief, to know just what he was referring to. And I reflexively placed a hand around my chest, feeling my face heat up. "Ok, for the record, big boobed girls seem like bigger threats in situations like these," I reasoned, determined to defend my idea. But it seemed I wasn't the only determined one here, because seeing how Aiden blew out another shaky breath, softly biting his lip soon after, I knew it was taking all his willpower to not give in to the wave of mirth which was threatening to come bursting out. It was with great effort that he managed to say, "what did you use?" I shot him a look at that. "Do you really want to know?" His nod was enough of an answer.
