Chapter 8
"Maybe I just got hurt because I was expecting too much. Maybe, because even though our marriage started like this, somehow I want it to be fine. I know it's very impossible, because there's other people involved," I stated then smiled.
"Yeah right, it's really impossible. Especially if they keep meeting," my friend said, then rolled her eyes.
I raised my eyebrow. "How do you know?"
She just pointed at my back with her lips, so I looked.
Oh yes, please remind me that I will never go back to this coffee shop, because it looks like they're here together.
The girl's arm was happily hooked on Andrei's, while he seemed to be seriously ordering at the counter. As usual, they did not notice that someone was looking at them.
"Let's go to the bar later, game? I'll bring a driver," Ayesha invited.
"Maybe you forgot I already worked Ayesha," I reminded, while rolling my eyes.
"Then let's go now, so we can get drunk early, get home early, and wake up early. AHAHAHA!"
"You know, when it comes to nonsense, your intellect is!" I laughed.
"I know right. Let's go?" she smiled, then adjusted her bag.
"Your threat," I finally said, then stood up.
We both just laughed and then applauded.
We stopped for a moment, walking out because we met them on the way.
Andrei just gave me a serious look while I gave him a frugal smile. I shifted my gaze to the woman with him; she was just looking at me seriously as she clung her arm to my husband even more. I just smiled at her and then walked away.
"Pfft! You know girl, I have this feeling that those two will break up." Ayesha said as we ordered another drink.
"There you are again with your gut feelings," I said, then leaned on the sofa.
"Duh? When did I make a wrong guess? HAHAHA!"
"Now," I said, laughing.
"You're a kill joy, you know? But go ahead and don't believe it, because maybe later you will hope. HAHAHA!" She moved over to me, then poured wine into my glass.
"I am starting to get in a bad mood, you know that?" I spat angrily to her, then gulped down the wine.
"Is that what you call heartbroken?"
"One more word Ayesha, and then this friendship is over." I threatened her; instead of being scared, she just laughed.
"Tsk! That looks bad sis," she said seriously, before looking outside.
We are now in the VIP room, in our favorite bar. It's tinted, so they can't see us from the outside. We have our own karaoke here that can be used, but we prefer to listen to whatever music is played all throughout the place.
I poured a drink again into the glass before drinking it. "Yeah, this is bad. Even I'm confused."
"Are you sure you don't love him?"
I leaned on the sofa and closed my eyes. My eyesight was starting to swell.
"I don't know, because I don't really know what love is."
"It's hard to believe that I love him within just a few days of our marriage," I then continued to pour the wine into the glass again.
"Maybe you're just attracted to him right now, so stop it, so you don't get hurt again."
Yeah, I should.
"Maybe he should also start being more honest, so that you don't fall too," she said seriously.
I just remembered everything again—what happened between us and the few days he took care of me.
"Maybe I'm the only one who really has a problem, I misunderstood everything too much." I blamed myself, then drank again.
"Seems like you're chained in the marriage."
I just shook my shoulders, because she was right. I'm already locked up in this marriage, so maybe that's why I want us to be as good as everyone else.
"Let's dance outside," Ayesha invited.
I know what she's doing. She just wants me to breathe, she wants me to forget, even if just for now.
"Did I tell you how lucky I am to be your friend?" I said smiling.
As I expected, we cringed together so we both just laughed.
"It's a bit ugly," she whispered to me as we walked to the dance floor.
I just laughed at her. We started dancing—swaying here, twerking there.
We both went to the bar counter and ordered three shots of tequila. We drank that first before returning to the dance floor.
"Damn! This is the literal pleasure. Wooooh!!" she shouted, then swayed along with the loud music of the bar.
"Fuck Ayesha! We don't have a driver, you fucking scammer!" I laughed and shouted as I accompanied her movements.
"Oh, there's nothing?! Let me find a driver later!" she shouted back because of the noise of the music.
"Let's have another drink first!"
We fell into a high chair at the bar.
"The strongest hard drink please," Ayesha and I said to the bartender.
We both just laughed as the bartender served the drink we were asking for.
"It's been two years Ayesha, you still can't move on with your ex?" I said, then sank at the counter.
She did not speak immediately, so I peeked at her.
She looked at the wine seriously, then smiled for a moment.
"There are probably some things in the world that we will never forget." I could feel the bitterness in her voice as she let go of those words.
"He's stupid," I said angrily, then took my shot too.
We shot hard drinks at the counter before we moved into the VIP room again to continue drinking there.
"Why don't you snatch him?" Ayesha asked drunkenly while leaning on the sofa.
"You're drunk Ayesha, do you think I'll stoop that low?" I fired back while also leaning.
"Why? What's wrong with that? My man before was taken by others too," she sighed.
We both fell silent.
"Fuck! Didn't you tell me that you would get a driver?" I changed the topic.
"I can no longer walk. Just go back to the counter and randomly pick from your contacts for fun."
I just shook my head and did what she wanted, but because I could no longer walk too, I just called the staff.
"Yes ma'am?" the woman asked.
I got my cellphone from the bag and looked at it, even though I was about to squirm.
"You really are a fucker Ayesha. Yeah, we're still coming home late."
I put the cellphone on the table.
"Can you call anyone in my contacts to pick us up here? Thank you." I said dizzily and then leaned back on the couch.
I even heard the familiar ringing tone of my cellphone but I just left it to the staff.
"Hello?" I listen to her talk.
"Ahh...yes, Sir. They are here at the Asdfg Bar, ma'am is drunk. You just called at the perfect time, because they are looking for someone to pick them up."
"Okay sir. They are in the VIP room, so no one will harm them."
"Okay sir. Welcome."
"Ma'am, he is coming here." I heard her inform me.
I just closed my eyes and nodded.
It is Dad probably.
Sorry, Dad, I bothered you again.
"Hey, bittssch, I've been wanting to do this for a long time. I just don't always have time," Ayesha said while pressing the buzzer button to ask for a waiter.
In less than a second, the waiter arrived in the room we were occupying.
"And what the hell is that?" I asked with a frown, then she looked at me.
She gave me a demonic smile.
"Body shot."
I just slapped my forehead then shook.
"What? That is so easy. We can also know if you will be attracted," she hiccupped, "to other men."
I thought for a moment then. She has a point, anyway there is nothing wrong with that, right?
As if I am really acting as a wife.
I laughed bitterly then faced her, "Game."
She clapped with joy and ordered tequila. "I will choose yours."
I just let her, because I trust her taste. She won't pimp me out to a maniac or an ugly guy.
"Okay, that one at the bar. The one with the red polo." She pointed, trembling.
I checked the guy; he's not that bad. He is also handsome, but he looks familiar. "I think I saw him somewhere, I just can't remember where."
Ayesha pushed me to start our plan.
I could do nothing but go out and go straight to the man she was referring to.
"Hi!" I greeted, then lifted the tequila I was holding. Hoping that he'll understand immediately what I want to do.
He frowned at me. "Do you know I will die if you do that?" He laughed, then leaned against the side of the bar.
"Is my beauty deadly?" I teased and chuckled.
"Just one, don't be a kill joy. Alright? Even just in your hand." I insisted.
"You're drunk," he just said, then held out his hand.
I smiled with joy. I thought he would reject me.
I put salt on his wrist before I finally swallowed the tequila I was holding. I would have licked it, if only someone had held my arm tightly.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" he says.
The effect of alcohol on my body disappeared, due to shock.
"W-what are you doing here?" I stammered out to my husband.
Instead of answering me, he looked at the man I should have taken a body shot off of.
"Woah! Chill! I'm innocent here," he said immediately as he raised both his hands.
"Tsk! Take my wife's friend with you, asshole," he said, then gave him a punch.
I shouted because of that. I would have approached the man to check him, but Andrei immediately dragged me away.
"FUCK! Castanio, I'll kill you. Fuck!"
