Chapter 75: Mrs. Allard Arrives

"So many trees, how are we supposed to find it?" Gregory asked, looking around.

"No need to search. It's right there," Lorna said, pointing to a cave hidden behind a massive tree.

Daniel's eyes lit up, and he sprinted over to check it out.

"That's it! This is the place!" Daniel exclaimed, spotting the mark left by his colleague.

Lorna and the others quickly gathered around.

"Why is there gold here?" Gregory asked, picking up a piece of broken gold nearby.

"It's real gold," Gregory said, eyes wide, as he handed it to Lorna.

Lorna took it, nodding. "Yep, it's real."

"But why would there be gold?" Gregory asked, still puzzled.

Daniel rummaged through the cave, but apart from the mark, there was nothing else.

"Was the map found here?" Lorna asked Daniel, who was still searching.

"It should be. That tourist was an adventure enthusiast who sneaked in here. The police found him here," Daniel said, thinking hard, worried he might have missed something.

Lorna nodded. "Alright, this piece of gold is a clue."

"What can a piece of broken gold do?" Gregory asked, crossing his arms and tilting his head.

Lorna glanced at him with a smirk. "Didn't you notice the residual aura of a Space Scroll on this gold?"

Gregory was stunned for a moment, then took the gold to examine it closely.

"It really is the trace of a Space Scroll!" Gregory exclaimed. He hadn't looked carefully before, but now he saw it clearly.

Lorna shook her head. "Besides, one of the ten high-ranking demons likes shiny things, especially gold and silver."

"Are you saying a high-ranking demon once stayed here and left this gold when it left?" Daniel and Gregory both considered this possibility.

Lorna frowned and nodded. "The problem now is that this high-ranking demon has already teleported to another place, and it has Nyxara, an unknown creature, with it." Lorna was worried the high-ranking demon might cause trouble.

"But they just revived, and their remaining energy should only be enough for teleportation, right? Aren't demons suppressed by the power of fate when they enter the human realm?" Gregory pointed out.

Lorna immediately realized. "Right, I forgot about that for a moment." She had too many things to manage and couldn't keep track of all the details.

It seemed that even if the high-ranking demons revived, their abilities wouldn't recover as quickly as she had imagined.

If they were waiting for Mephistopheles to awaken, they would probably hide among the crowd, quietly awaiting its call.

Lorna thought, 'They better not cause any trouble, or I'll definitely add some 'good stuff' to their seals.'

"Alright, let's go. I'll take this gold back and cut it into sensors to distribute to everyone," Lorna said to Daniel.

The group quickly exited the restricted area and made their way back to Harmony City.

Bernard received the news that Lorna was coming back, but he was extremely busy.

So he sent her a text message: [I'm very busy today, can't pick you up. Sorry.]

Lorna was surprised when she received the message. Bernard rarely said he was busy; he was always adept at handling company matters.

Could something have happened?

Lorna knew Bernard's birthday and quickly took out an astrological chart to make some calculations.

Due to the familial bond connecting Bernard and Lorna, she could foresee that Bernard would be troubled by a villain recently.

When Lorna arrived in Harmony City, she went home to tidy up first, then prepared to go to the company to find Bernard.

"Lorna, you just got back. Where are you going? Lunch is ready," Lucas called out to Lorna, who was already at the door.

"I'm not eating, Grandpa. I'm going to the company to have lunch with Bernard," Lorna responded and left in a hurry.

Lucas was thrilled; he always hoped Bernard and Lorna would hit it off.

"Lorna, wait for me! I want to go too!" Clara shouted, eager to join her.

Lucas held her back until Lorna was out of sight. "Clara, aren't the bars outside enough for you to hang out at? Do you have to bother Bernard and Lorna?" he scolded.

Clara, feeling a bit guilty, stuck out her tongue and then ran off to eat.

Lorna ordered takeout to the Allard Group's building, knowing Bernard often skipped meals when he was busy. At the reception, several delivery drivers arrived with bags of food and coffee, placing them on the desk.

"Hello, this is Lorna's order," one of the delivery drivers said before leaving.

The receptionist, Thea, recognized Lorna.

As Lorna arrived, she heard the takeout had arrived and walked over with a smile. "Thea, I remember you."

Thea looked delighted. "Ms. Martin, Mr. Allard is in a meeting. The company has been facing a lot of negative publicity lately, and the online backlash has been intense. Mr. Allard is under a lot of pressure."

Lorna nodded. "Please help bring these takeouts upstairs."

Thea called the executive office, and Casey answered.

"Hold on. There's too much takeout. I'll call some people down to help," Thea said to Lorna.

Lorna nodded in understanding.

Thea excitedly messaged in a small group: [Mrs. Allard is here! She's so beautiful!]

The news quickly spread throughout the company.

After Lorna went upstairs, she went straight to the conference room.

As soon as she pushed open the door, the group of people who were still in a heated discussion stopped.

"I brought takeout and coffee for everyone. Let's eat first and then continue," Lorna said, waving the takeout bags with a smile.

The employees didn't move and looked at Bernard.

Bernard's tense expression softened considerably when he saw Lorna walk in, a smile appearing on his face and his tone turning gentle.

"Why didn't you rest a bit more after coming back? Why come here?" Bernard got up and took the food boxes from Lorna's hand.

"I came to have lunch with you! I'm starving; I haven't eaten all day!" Lorna said, her affection for him evident.

Bernard gave the others a look, signaling them to go eat.

"Yay! Thank you, Mrs. Allard!" After about five hours of continuous meetings, everyone was exhausted. Now they could finally relax a bit and immediately felt rejuvenated.

Bernard saw Lorna and his mood lifted. He said, "I'll give you all a bonus today. Go to the finance department and tell them I sent you to collect yours."

"Thank you, Mr. Allard!" the employees exclaimed.

After they left, only Bernard and Lorna were left in the office.

Bernard helped Lorna open all the food boxes and sat down to eat.

"Hurry up and eat! You always skip meals when you're working. Next time, I won't bring you any food," Lorna said, pretending to be angry as she served Bernard some food.

Bernard immediately picked up the food and put it in his mouth, smiling with satisfaction.

"Aren't I eating now? You should eat too; weren't you hungry?" He pushed the ribs she liked toward her.

"Yes, I haven't eaten all day..." Lorna complained to Bernard.

They enjoyed a peaceful lunch together.

Outside the office, there was a lot of laughter. Seeing Bernard in a good mood today, the employees boldly joked about him.

"Mr. Allard can actually be so gentle? I'm shocked!" a secretary commented while eating.

"Mrs. Allard is so beautiful and nice! She should come more often! Then Mr. Allard might give us more bonuses!" Another manager was moved to tears having lunch.

"Agreed!"

"Hear, hear! Mrs. Allard is the best!"
