Chapter 30
Joshua was utterly humiliated by what the child said.
Had Ella told the kids she didn't like him?
He didn't deny that he was the one who caused Ella to drink too much and get alcohol poisoning.
But this kid turned on him way too fast.
Dorian was very unhappy and said with a gloomy face.
"I don't want to be your father either, you brat. I should've just let the bad guys take you away."
Dorian shot him a cold glare, then noticed some wet wipes nearby and quickly grabbed them to wipe Ella's face.
Soon, Samuel came over with acupuncture needles.
Just as he was about to give them to the child, Joshua stopped him.
"Are you crazy? He doesn't know what he's doing, and neither do you?"
But Samuel just laughed, extremely excited.
"If he doesn't know what he's doing, he can play with something else. Why acupuncture of all things? Don't stop me. If he actually gets the positions right today, I'm claiming this kid as mine."
Ignoring Joshua, Samuel walked over to Dorian and handed him the needles.
"Think carefully before you do it. This is your mother's friend. One wrong move and she might not wake up."
He was deliberately trying to scare Dorian.
Dorian took the needles and corrected him.
"She's my mom, not my mother's friend."
Then he climbed onto the bed, took out a needle, and carefully inserted it into Ella's head.
Samuel still didn't pay attention to what Dorian said, but watching his actions, he was absolutely amazed.
Joshua was afraid Dorian would mess around and hurt Ella.
He was about to stop him when Samuel quickly blocked him.
"Leave him alone. Those few needles won't kill anyone."
This Dorian really had exceptional talent. He was too damn impressive.
He was only two years old.
Other kids at two could barely walk properly or speak clearly.
This kid could do acupuncture at two?
If you didn't say he had natural talent, he wouldn't believe it.
"A two-year-old kid, and you actually believe he can do it?"
Joshua still didn't want to let a child randomly stick needles in Ella's head.
It looked painful just watching.
He pushed Samuel aside and yelled at Dorian.
"Dorian, get down here right now. Stop it, or I'll spank you."
"Leave me alone."
Dorian only had eyes for Ella.
As long as he could ease Ella's discomfort, everyone else's words were just impotent rage.
He continued inserting and removing needles from Ella's head.
Completely ignoring Joshua.
Joshua got angry and reached out to grab him.
This time, Samuel allowed it.
Because he could tell that Dorian was almost done with the needles.
He squatted down and pulled Dorian over, asking him. "What were you trying to do with those needles?"
Dorian shook off Joshua's hand. Knowing that this equally tall and handsome man in front of him was a doctor who knew more, he obediently shared his thinking.
"Promote blood circulation, relieve headache."
Samuel admiringly gave Dorian a thumbs up.
"You're amazing. I'm a very skilled doctor. Do you want to learn from me how to save people?"
Dorian's eyes lit up, and he nodded vigorously.
"Sure! If you teach me how to save people, I'll accept you as my father."
"You brat, how come you're just like your mom—fickle and quick to change your mind."
Joshua couldn't help but respond to Dorian's words, and at that moment, his chest inexplicably ached again.
Dorian had been calling him father all along before.
Now he meets a decent guy and immediately changes his mind.
This Dorian was just like Ella, liking everyone he met, with no self-respect at all.
Dorian glared at him, "You can't even take care of my mom. What's the point of being so big? Can't I change my mind?"
"You..."
Joshua was about to be driven mad by Dorian.
He couldn't help but reach out to pinch his ear.
Dorian quickly hid behind Samuel, grabbing Samuel's clothes and shouting.
"Save me."
"Don't worry, he's just messing with you."
Samuel picked up Dorian and held him in his arms.
Looking at Joshua, he asked, "Why does this kid call Ella mom?"
Joshua said irritably, "He has no parents, so he calls anyone mom or dad."
Samuel thought, so he must be an orphan who wants a mother, which is why he calls Ella mom?
That must be it.
Ella and Joshua had been married for a year—they couldn't have produced a kid this big.
Thinking that Ella needed rest, Samuel carried Dorian and said to Joshua, "You stay here and watch over her. I'll take the kid to rest."
Joshua couldn't wait for Dorian to leave.
Just hearing him talk made him angry.
He sat by the bed, noticing that Ella's complexion looked much better than before.
Thinking back to Dorian's actions, they were indeed unusual for a normal person.
Could this be what genius looks like?
But thinking that such a smart and brave child was born between Ella and someone else, Joshua felt like a huge stone was blocking his heart.
He was very depressed.
However, he didn't leave for the entire night, staying by the bedside the whole time.
Ella woke up after dawn.
Her stomach still had a burning pain.
Her whole body felt weak.
She wanted to get up and go to the bathroom.
But she found Joshua leaning against the headboard, asleep.
Ella quietly looked at him, not understanding why he was sleeping sitting up.
Thinking about how Joshua had forced her to drink with his friends at the nightclub last night while he sat aside with his arm around Scarlett, watching her make a fool of herself, Ella reminded herself that she should give up.
This Joshua would never love her.
He would only try every way possible to torment her.
So she shouldn't love him anymore either. Let it go!
Even though her heart still ached terribly, feeling like her insides were churning.
Because she needed to use the bathroom, Ella still forced herself to get up.
Ella's movement woke Joshua up.
Seeing her about to get out of bed, he still gentlemanly went to help her.
"If you're not feeling well, just lie down. Why are you getting up?"
Ella weakly shook off Joshua's hand, her face cold.
"Stop pretending. Instead of keeping your girlfriend company, are you planning to stay here and collect my corpse?"
In the days ahead, she would cooperate with him to put on a good show.
Once Aiden was gone, she would leave with the children.
This Joshua—whoever wants to love him can love him. She didn't care anymore.
"Ella, can you not make a scene first thing in the morning?"
Joshua didn't have a pleasant expression either. He figured she wanted to use the bathroom.
Thinking about how much she suffered last night, she probably didn't even have the strength to get out of bed.
He walked around the bed and reached out to pick her up.
Ella didn't want him to and struggled to avoid him.
"Joshua, what are you doing? Don't touch me."
"Stop fussing. Don't you need to use the bathroom? I'll carry you there."
Ella froze for a moment.
Before she could react, she was lifted into the air and carried toward the bathroom.
She looked at Joshua in a daze, not understanding why he suddenly became so kind.
Joshua set her down on the toilet, unusually gentle, "Do you need my help, or can you do it yourself?"
Ella's face suddenly turned red, and she lowered her head, "Go out."
Joshua agreed, "Fine. By the way, your son came over. You'd better keep him in check and away from other people."
