Sophia's POV.
A chill crept through the air and woke me up when it hit the window slightly. I opened my eyes to gaze at the wide avenue that was lit by the beautiful rays of the mesmerizing sun, inviting me to stare into the horizon.
The sun was shining through a thick layer of cloud that blanketed the sky. I saw leaves lackadaisically swaying with the wind, then touching the ground's cheeks softly.
It was Saturday and in a nutshell, you could say a day free from any Hayes-related thing!
I was driven back from my thoughts by the sound of Stephanie entering the room loudly as she slammed the door with her foot behind her. I gasped.
“Stephanie, you scared me....” I breathed.
“Oh, sorry honey, Good morning.” She greeted, me as she handed me a cup of hot chocolate.
“Thank you,” I said, clutching the mug in my hands and feeling the warmth of it.
“Now, finish your hot chocolate and go take a shower. I made super chocolaty chocolate pancakes.” Stephanie winked.
“Oh! Sure.” I chirped.
“Okay! I'll wait for you in the kitchen.” She said as she turned to head out of the room.
“Oh! And don't you dare eat any piece of chocolate pancakes before I come! Understood?” I threatened.
“Yes, yes.” She rolled her eyes.
“Hah! Good girl.” I smirked and raised my chin.
We broke into laughter before I went to the bathroom, took a quick shower, wore a comfortable pair of shorts and a black shirt, fixed my hair in a messy bun, and headed to the kitchen.
I sat facing Stephanie. As usual, I filled my plate and my mouth with chocolate pancakes. I wonder how some people claim to be allergic to chocolate.
Poor them, missing the good part of life.
“Wait a damn second!” Steph abruptly alerted.
I arched a brow at her.
“We just forgot about the double date! Crap Sophia, I can't believe we forgot about it.”
“Oh, I can't believe it, trust me, I'm thinking of throwing myself off of some cliff to atone for the sin of forgetting about our very important double date!” I snorted sarcastically.
“Hmmm, Sophia, it seems that you've forgotten about the big boy’s ice cream...” she teased.
I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest. “That's playing low.”
Steph chuckled. “Okay then, we'll finish our ‘breakfast’, if I may call it that, as it's practically 2 pm miss sleepy head. After that, I just got a little work to do, and then we'll pick a dress for you.”
Some time passed with Steph working on the laptop before her while I was reading some magazine.
Finally, she put her arms up in the air.
“Whew! Finally, I'm done! Oh shit! Look at the freaking hour, we're going to be late! Let's quickly find a dress for you.” She announced as she slammed the laptop shut before her and stood up.
We went, of course, to her wardrobe.
“No....No....Not this....” Steph muttered as she searched between the variety of dresses in her closet. She would often pull a dress out, examine it and she would shake her head and put it back.
After what seemed like forever, Stephanie finally held a dress in her hand, a satisfied smile on her face. “Your dress, little cupcake.”
My eyes widened and my mouth opened as I took in how revealing the dress was. I gulped.
“Uhm, excuse me, Miss Stephanie, but this dress is for?”
She raised her eyebrow and smiled victoriously at me, “Why of course, for you my dear Sophia.” She held my shoulders and looked into my eyes. “It's a date, Sophia. Well, a double one, but whatever! So of course, you have to wear something like this.” She signaled towards the dress.
“So basically, Steph, you want me to wear this dress tonight?” I asked idiotically.
“Hmm, perhaps I should remind you every time we discuss this specific issue, of Big Boy’s special ice cream for one whole month.” She smiled slyly at me.
Blast her! She could be devious at times.
I huffed as I snatched the dress from her to change.
The dress was beautiful. I got to give it to Steph, that there was nothing more perfect than her fashion taste. Truly, it was pretty, of purple color, and reached above my knees, more than a little. It hugged my figure quite tightly, showing my curves and putting several parts of my body on display. It was sleeveless and as for the heels, they were glittering silver, also Steph's, and oh so high!”
I blushed as I viewed myself in the mirror. Okay, I'll admit again, Stephanie did a super job.
I went to where she was and as I stepped in, she applauded and grinned widely.
“Now, that's my girl! Holy shit!” She exclaimed.
“I'll give it to you Steph, I like it. I don't feel much comfortable in it but it looks good.” I declared softly.
“Hah! I told you.” Stephanie answered as she stuck her tongue out to mock me. “Now don't get so full of yourself, miss.”
She laughed. “Now, come on, we have to apply some makeup, then fix your hair, this messy bun is going to be the death of me, ugh!” She exclaimed.
“I'll do that myself. I most certainly do not wish to kill you with my bun! You go and get dressed before we run late.” I assured.
“Oh, okay” Stephanie replied as she began changing into a green dress and black heels.
I sat down on a small chair before the mirror. I applied some mascara and a black eye shadow, and then put on some pink lip gloss. After that, I fixed my brown hair in well-defined curls and put a simple purple hair clip on the side.
Finally, I wore some cute earrings.
Then I examined myself in the mirror.
I look nice!
After some time, Stephanie finally stepped into the living room, where I had been waiting after I finished my preparations.
I looked at her and stared. Stephanie was such a beautiful young woman. She had full lips which she had applied some red lipstick to.
Her figure was a very attractive one and her curves were so naturally into place. Her confidence and outgoing self showed just by the way she walked and talked. She was something else, truthfully.
And the dress she was wearing, was marvelous! A very short green one, shorter than mine even! And it showed a good amount of her skin. Her heels were also higher than mine and she walked confidently enough to show how much she could care less if she fell and broke her beautiful neck.
“Wow. You look so beautiful.” I smiled as I stood up and walked towards her.
“I know, I always do.” She grinned playfully at me.
“Oh, how modest you are.” I shot back.
She chuckled. “So ready now?”
I nodded and we headed towards the door to hail a cab.
At the restaurant, I was pretty anxious and worried. I've never been on a double date before.
Finally, we reached our destination and my heart hammered inside my chest.
Okay, just let this night pass smoothly, dear God!
Stephanie looked at me before we entered.
“So, Sophia, I know you've been through a lot in the dating pool but I don't want you to stay focused on how uncomfortable you are with your dress. Secondly, try getting along with this Jack fellow, because I want to have a good time with Harvey.” She winked at me.
“Okay, look here, miss. I most definitely did not come to this blasted date to enjoy my time with this Jack fellow. I came here just for your sake. Am I clear? You may have your time with Harvey, just don't forget about me.”
Stephanie was silent for a moment, then she held my chin up, “You think I'd forget about you?” She frowned. “All the Harveys of the world are nothing before you.” She smiled reassuringly.
I inhaled, then exhaled as I followed Stephanie into the restaurant where our double date would be.
