Winnie did not expect Daniel to be so shameless. His blind confidence made her laugh in anger. She said icily, “You’re so despicable. Don’t you feel ashamed? Do you think you can use me? Dream on!”
Daniel’s expression turned gloomy. He did not expect Winnie to refuse him so decisively. Out of humiliation, he said angrily, “I hope you regret refusing to seize this opportunity in the future!”
‘Regret? Impossible!’
A mocking expression appeared on Winnie’s face when she heard those words, and she laughed coldly.
Rain began to pour down from the sky after Winnie left. She walked around absentmindedly, fuming with anger. It took a while before she returned to her senses and realized that she was drenched. She quickly hailed a cab and returned home.
…
When Winnie arrived at the villa, she still had yet to settle her emotions. Coincidentally, she ran into L, who had just returned as well.
L’s figure was tall and straight. His figure really resembled those of male models; it was breathtaking. At this moment, he was frowning as he sized Winnie up before asking, “What were you doing? Why are you drenched? What if my child catches a cold because of you?”
Due to his overwhelming pressure, she could only weakly retort, “Mr. L, embryos can’t catch a cold. Therefore, even if I catch a cold, it won’t affect the baby. I’ll be the only one who feels uncomfortable."
“Go in and change your clothes!” the man said coldly.
"Oh."
Winnie shrugged and quickly entered the house.
…
After changing her clothes, Winnie went to the living room. Coincidentally, she caught Mrs. Rodriguez secretly eating desserts.
Worried that Winnie would tell her son, she quickly decided to share the desserts with Winnie, saying, “Winnie, have some.”
At this moment, L suddenly walked. He sat on the couch before he said, “Mother, are you eating desserts without my knowledge again? Also, scrape off the cream for Winnie. She shouldn’t have too much since she’s pregnant.”
Mrs. Rodriguez nodded. She patted her chest and said with a hint of flattery, “Son, I haven’t eaten the desserts yet.”
L only looked at his mother skeptically.
Seeing that her son did not believe her, Mrs. Rodriguez pouted.
Meanwhile, Winnie watched the mother and son’s harmonious interaction as she savored the sweet desserts, and her mood improved a little.
L was in the midst of loosening his tie when he saw the crumbs on the corner of Winnie’s mouth. He pointed at her lips and said, “There are crumbs on your mouth…”
Winnie raised her head and looked at him with glistening eyes. “Where?”
L made a gesture. “Over there.”
“Hmm? Where?”
Winnie touched her lips, but she still failed to remove the crumbs.
Mrs. Rodriguez, who was watching from the side, suddenly said, “Oh, both of you are really troublesome…”
Taking advantage of her son’s lack of response, she quickly added, “Why don’t you just remove it for her?”
After saying that, she grabbed her son’s hand and guided it toward Winnie’s face.
Winnie watched in a daze as L reached out and wiped the crumb from her lips. She felt as though her mind had exploded as he withdrew his hand and casually tasted the crumbs from her lips.
Mrs. Rodriguez nudged her son and asked playfully, “How is it? Did it taste particularly sweet?”
Winnie’s face flushed red, and she bit her lip.
L’s dark eyes were fixed on her red lips as he replied vaguely, “It’s sweet.”
Who knew if he was referring to the dessert or what. All Winnie knew was that his voice sounded particularly charming when he spoke. Her heart skipped a beat, and she nervously licked her lips.
L’s gaze was dark when he saw this. After a moment, he looked away and impatiently tugged at his tie, removing it.
This action drew Winnie’s attention to his neck and Adam’s apple, and her cheeks inexplicably turned red again.
‘She’s really oblivious. Does she have no idea what she’s doing to me?’ L thought to himself as he looked at Winnie who was looking at him innocently. He quickly rose to his feet and got himself a cold glass of water.
At this moment, Mrs. Rodriguez said teasingly, “My goodness, why do I feel like the temperature has risen? Grace, is the air conditioner on?”
Grace chuckled. “Yes, Madam.”
"Stop it, Mom,” L said before he quickly made his way upstairs.
Mrs. Rodriguez pouted before she turned her attention to Winnie, who was still eating. A hint of mischief could be seen in her eyes as she unlocked her iPad. Then, she smiled and said, “Winnie, let me tell you something! This afternoon, I wanted to buy you some clothes. I showed him the clothes I chose, and guess what happened? He completely ignored all the clothes I chose before personally choosing them. Have a look.”
After listening to Mrs. Rodriguez, Winnie’s focus was on the fact that Mrs. Rodriguez knew how to shop online!
Mrs. Rodriguez pointed at the screen and said, “I had no idea this is the type of style that little brat likes!"
Winnie was speechless when she looked down and saw a few pleated skirts and dresses. At the same time, she could not help but recall the pleated dress she had worn earlier to meet her enemy. She could not help but wonder if L and her enemy shared the same test.
…
At the Andersons.
Ava was trying to save her relationship with Daniel. She was crying as she said, looking weak and pitiful, “Daniel, please forgive me! I… I just wanted to make you happy when I lied about my pregnancy! Moreover, your mother has never accepted me. I had no choice…”
Then, she deliberately let her top slide down to the side slightly, revealing her enchanting shoulders before she kissed him with tears in her eyes, murmuring, “I love you…”
However, Daniel remained unmoved. Not only that, but his expression was cold as he said, “Don’t change the subject. What’s going on between you and that man?”
Ava’s heart sank. Then, she began to cry again as she said, “Don’t tell me you believe Winnie? She must have edited the photo to frame me! Don’t you believe me?”
Ava placed her hand on his chest before she said softly, “Don’t you understand? I only love you. I gave you my everything. You’re my first."
Daniel was slightly moved by Ava’s words. After all, Winnie did not even give him her first kiss, let alone anything else.
Ava slowly pushed him down as she said, “I know you really want a baby. Why don’t we try to conceive?”
“Don’t think that a few sweet words will…”
“Babe, trust me. I know what you like…” Ava said coyly.
With this, Daniel could no longer resist. After all, Ava’s passion was so much better than Winnie’s indifference toward him. However, despite his thoughts, he could not help thinking about Winnie’s stunning face. If it was not for the fact that Winnie refused to be intimate with him the eight years when they were together, perhaps he would not have fallen in love with Ava.
‘Ha, she refused me, pretending to be innocent! But now she’s with a thug!’ Daniel thought to himself angrily.
…
An hour later.
Ava came out of the room and gently closed the door.
Sophia, who was waiting outside, asked, “Did it work?”
Ava said, looking extremely proud, “Of course. Don’t worry, Mom. Although Winnie tried to sow discord, I have Daniel in the palm of my hands now. He’s completely infatuated with me.”
Ava continued to say, “You’re really amazing, Mom. You really know the way to handle men!”
After all, Sophia taught Ava all she knew.
A prideful expression appeared on Sophia’s face. It was thanks to her skills that she was able to hold onto Matthew. After a moment, she said, “You better take your medication. Otherwise, it’ll affect your chances of pregnancy. Also, we’re lucky that Daniel is not suspicious of you.”
Ava said boastfully, “How could he? He’s now very protective of me.”
“Although Daniel is an illegitimate child, Mr. Davis loves him very much. He’ll definitely be chosen as the heir. Now that you finally snatched him away from Winnie, you have to hold on to him.”
Ava was not worried about this at all. Instead, she said with a sigh, “The Davises may be one of the top four wealthiest families, but they’re really lacking compared to the Rodriguezes."
Sophia shook her head. “There’s no way we can enter the prestigious Rodriguez family. We’ll have to rely on your cousin for that.”
Ava was aware that her capable cousin was aiming at a high position in the Rodriguez family. In her opinion, sooner or later, the Anderson family would be able to rise in ranks. She did not consider Winnie at all. After all, Winnie had been kicked out of the Anderson family like a stray dog.
Soon after, Ava’s thoughts returned to the humiliation she suffered today. She clenched her hands as she said, “Many people in the hotel recorded the moment when my fake pregnancy was exposed. That b*tch, Winnie, actually dared to humiliate me! If the videos from today reach Mrs. Davis, it’ll be difficult for me to marry Daniel. She also challenged me to compete in the jewelry competition. If she wins, she can return to Triton. Mom, we can’t allow that b*tch to continue causing trouble!”
“Don’t worry. Just watch how I deal with her,” Sophia said sinisterly.
Sophia thought about it for a few moments before she made her way to Matthew’s study.
