Chapter 19: Chapter Nineteen

I shrug my shoulders. "I'm pretty comfortable right here."

Christian blushes a little. "Umm okay, we can stay right here."

I can’t believe he actually blushed. I drop my arms from around his neck and stare at him. I’ve never really noticed how pretty his eyes are. He’s been my best friend, really my only friend for as long as I can remember, and I have never noticed his eyes are almost as blue as the sky.

“What are you staring at?” Christian asks, his cheeks turning bright red.

I smile at him. “Your eyes.”

“What about them?” He asks, quirking an eyebrow at me.

“They are beautiful. I have never noticed how blue they are.”

Christian laughs, smirking a little. “Probably because we have never been this close before.”

I laugh too. “Yeah, I guess that’s true.”

We both laugh staring at each other for a minute, Christian shifts his leg under me and I realize I am still sitting on his lap. “Oh my God. Am I to heavy? I can move if you need me to.” I ask feeling a little embarrassed. I didn’t even think about it. I’ve never sat in anyone’s lap before, I know I’m heavy. I don’t want to hurt anyone.

I don’t even give Christian a chance to answer, I know he is too nice to tell me to get off his lap even if I am hurting him. I try to get off his lap and Christian grabs my waist holding me down. My eyes go wide in surprise. “What are you doing?” I ask, confused when he won’t let me get up.

Christian chuckles. “You didn’t let me answer.”

I look away from him. “Because I already know the answer.”

“Apparently not.” Christian says as he shakes his head. “You are not too heavy. You need to stop thinking you are. You are absolutely perfect, stop thinking you are to heavy, ugly or whatever else is going through your mind, because you aren’t.”

Now it’s my turn to blush. No one has ever said anything that nice to me before. Well, no one besides my parents, but of course they have to say stuff like that. I mean Keaton also said something along that line, but I can’t believe anything he says anymore. I can’t trust what he says, if he really meant what he said then he would leave Sapphire for me. That will never happen though. I need to get over him, if possible, I need to forget all about him. That will make everything easier for both of us.

“You are just saying that to be nice.” I whisper, looking away from him.

Christian laughs, rolling his eyes at me. “You are my best friend. I don’t have to be nice to you.”

I scoff. “Yes, you do, otherwise I wouldn’t be your best friend anymore.”

Christian smiles at me, pushing a strand of hair away from my eyes. He keeps his hand on my cheek, rubbing it gently with his thumb. “Well fine I will keep being nice to you, but that’s not why I said that. You really are perfect Erin. I mean it when I say that. You are the most beautiful girl I know inside and out.”

I bite my lip nervously, giving him a small smile. I have never been good at taking compliments, probably because I don’t hear very many of them that aren’t from my family members. “Thank you Christian.” I whisper.

Christian stares at me for a minute, rubbing my cheek. He leans in kissing me and I freeze, not sure what to do. Two kisses from two different guys in one day. One guy that happens to be my best friend. Honestly, I don’t know why I have never thought about Christian in that way. Maybe because I have always been so focused on the guy I knew I couldn’t have. I should have been looking at the guy right in front of me, the one guy that I have always been able to count on.

Christian pulls away almost as quickly as he leaned in to kiss me. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that. I don’t know why I did that.”

I giggle, putting my hands on his cheeks. “Christian it’s okay.”

“It is?”

I nod my head. “Yes.” I lean in and kiss him, the way he kissed me. Our kiss is hesitant at first, lips barely pressing together.

Christian’s hands settle on my hips and I deepen the kiss, pressing my lips harder against his. I wrap my arms around his neck, leaning in closer and I feel his tongue swipe across my bottom lip.

I barely open at first and his tongue meets mine. Our tongues swirl together, with unsure movements. There is a knock on Christian’s bedroom door and we quickly pull away from each other, I get off his lap as quick as I can sitting on the floor next to him. “Christian are you guys hungry?” His mom asks, as she slowly opens the door.

Christian clears his throat. “Umm, yeah. I guess I am hungry.” He turns to look at me. “Are you hungry Erin?”

I nod my head quickly. “Yeah, I could eat something.”

Christian’s mom looks at the two of us weirdly, when she sees we are sitting on the floor still. “Okay, I will make you guys some cookies and maybe some sandwiches or something.”

“Okay mom thanks.” Christian says it quickly and even I can tell he is trying to get his mom out of here.

His mom smiles at us. “You guys have fun. I will make you some food.”

“Thank you.” I say smiling at her.

She closes the door and Christian turns his attention back to me. We kissed. I can’t believe we kissed.
