Chapter 200 Seraphine
Chapter 200 Seraphine
My breath hitched, and I looked up. Really looked at him. And froze.
Because he had one too. Across his chest, seared just as deeply into his scales... Was something darker.... Fire, but not just fire.
Black threaded through it like veins. Like something had reached into his power and changed it.
My power. Death and fire twisted together into something new. Something dangerous. Something… ours.
“He carries us,” my dragon whispered.
Dante stilled, his massive form trembling slightly, not from rage this time. From the same overwhelming force I had just felt.
His eyes locked onto mine. Clear now. Present. Awake.
And then the bond... Snapped into place. Fully. Violently.
Everything hit at once. His fear. His rage. His relief. His love... It slammed into me so hard I staggered.
“Seraphine—” His voice wasn’t spoken.
It was felt. Inside me. Everywhere.
“I’m here,” I whispered, even though my voice barely mattered now.
Because he could feel it. Feel me. All of me.
Just like I could feel him. Too much. Too intense. Too close—
My knees buckled slightly under the weight of it.
“Easy,” my dragon murmured.
He felt that too. Dante moved instantly. Closer. Careful now.
Not the raging force from before.
Something steadier. Something that knew what he’d almost lost.
“You’re okay?” his voice pressed into my mind, rough, shaken.
I swallowed. Barely holding onto myself through the storm of shared sensation.
“Yeah,” I said softly.
“You owe me a new cabin.” The voice cut through the clearing like it had always been there.
I blinked.
The voidbinder stood at the edge of the smoldering wreckage, completely untouched, watching us with a level of interest that should have made me more concerned than it did.
But I didn’t have time to process him.
Because something was wrong.
The bond... It wasn’t settling. It was surging. Too much. Too fast.
Everything hit at once.
Dante’s emotions slammed into me—relief, rage, fear, possession—so sharp it stole the air from my lungs. My own power reacted instantly, black fire flickering uncontrollably beneath my scales as cosmic energy pulsed through my veins in violent waves.
“Dante—” I started.
He staggered. Actually staggered. His massive body tensed, claws digging into the ground as something rippled through him.
“Seraphine—what did we just—” His voice cut off as his dragon convulsed. Not violently. But enough. Enough to tell me this wasn’t right.
The voidbinder’s expression sharpened. “Separate,” he said immediately. “Now.”
We didn’t know how. The bond held. Too tight. Too deep.
My dragon let out a low, strained sound. Too much.
“I can’t—” I choked, my body already starting to shake.
Then the shift hit. It wasn’t controlled. It wasn’t graceful. It was violent.
My body broke.
Scales cracked apart like splitting glass, light and fire ripping through the seams as bone shifted too fast, too hard. I screamed as my wings collapsed inward, tearing through muscle that couldn’t decide what shape it needed to be.
Dante roared at the same time.
His transformation mirrored mine, massive form buckling, fire exploding outward as his dragon was forced back into something smaller, something human, something that clearly didn’t fit right yet.
We hit the ground almost simultaneously. Human again. Barely. Everything hurt. Everything felt wrong.
I sucked in a breath... And the world tilted. Hard.
“Hey—” Dante’s voice came rough, too close, too loud, too everything.
My vision flickered. The threads... I could see them again.
Too many. Too bright. Too loud. They screamed. All of them.
Every connection pulsing through the world at once, flooding my mind with noise and motion and energy that I couldn’t filter anymore.
“Make it stop—” I gasped.
Then my body seized. Hard.
My back arched off the ground as something snapped inside me, muscles locking violently as my hands curled in on themselves. My vision blew out completely, replaced with blinding white and black streaks that pulsed in time with the bond.
“Seraphine!” Dante’s voice broke.
I felt his panic instantly. Too instantly.
It slammed into me, making the seizure worse, feeding it, amplifying it until I couldn’t tell what was mine and what was his anymore.
“She’s convulsing,” the voidbinder said sharply, his tone no longer detached.
“No shit!” Dante snapped, his hands gripping me, trying to hold me still without hurting me.
“Let go.”
“I’m not letting go of her!”
“You are feeding it,” the voidbinder said coldly. “Your bond is overwhelming her system.”
That made Dante hesitate. Just for a second.
“Move.”
There was a shift, Dante being pulled back, restrained, or maybe just forced to stop touching me.
The second the contact broke... I screamed. Not a cry. Not a gasp.
A full, raw, tearing scream that ripped out of me like something had been ripped away.
“NO—!”
My body jerked violently, hands clawing at the air, reaching blindly... For him. For Dante.
“Put him back!” I choked, barely coherent, panic flooding every inch of me. “Don’t—don’t take him—”
Dante froze. Completely. “…what?” he said, voice cracking.
The voidbinder went still too. Not confused. Calculating. Watching.
My body shook harder, breaths coming in broken, uneven gasps as the bond yanked—pulling, stretching, straining like something was tearing it apart from both ends.
“He—” I tried to speak, but it came out fractured, desperate. “It hurts—he’s—he’s gone—”
“I’m right here!” Dante snapped, immediately reaching for me again.
The second his hand brushed my arm... The pain changed. Not better. Not worse. Different. Uneven. Unstable.
My body seized again, but this time it wasn’t just overwhelming—it was conflicted, like something inside me didn’t know which direction to go.
The voidbinder’s eyes narrowed. Slowly. Dangerously. “…ah.”
Dante looked up sharply. “What?”
The voidbinder didn’t answer immediately.
He stepped closer instead, watching the way my body reacted, how I leaned toward Dante even while convulsing, how the bond pulsed unevenly between us.
Then he looked at Dante. Really looked at him. And something in his expression shifted. Not curiosity. Understanding.
“Pull back,” he said.
“I’m not—”
“Do it.”
Dante’s jaw clenched. “No.”
“Then she continues like this.”
That shut him up. For a split second. Just enough.
Dante forced himself to pull his hand away again and I screamed again. Worse this time.
Because now I knew what it felt like to lose that contact.
My body shook violently, breath hitching as panic clawed its way up my throat. “Stop—stop—please—”
The voidbinder exhaled slowly. Then looked at Dante with something that could only be described as irritation.
“You’re splitting it.”
Dante blinked. “What?”
“The bond.”
Silence.
“You are not fully in it,” the voidbinder said flatly.
