Chapter 73 73
CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
"What did you just say?" I growled and moved into his space, he didn't back down, the stupid grin was still on his face.
"You can see for yourself, she looks exactly like my great gran. I'm sure its great gran that wants to come back to me. There is a large possibility that she was meant to be my mate..."
I didn't let him finish, I punched him hard on his face.
"Lucian!" Aurora screamed and tried to hold me back, but I was still able to land at least three more punches.
The guy stumbled and landed on the floor, his face bleeding profusely. his.
"How dare you hit me!" He roared.
I snarled at him, my chest heaving up and down.
"How dare you try to claim my mate as yours just because of some family resemblance." I narrowed my eyes at him, aware that Eli had arrived. "Don't you think it's sick that you want my mate simply because she looks like your great gran? Are you alright in the head."
"I'll kill you..." He groaned.
"Not if I kill you first." I lunged at him but was pulled back by Eli.
"Its alright, Lucian. I apologize on his behalf. Im sure he didn't mean what he said.
"It sure sounded like it did." Aurora muttered.
Eli winced then dragged the guy up, glaring at him.
"Is this why you came?"
"They're not bonded."
"Yet, you bastard. But they will be. Come on. " He dragged him off but not before the guy gave me a sick grin.
"I'll kill him. I swear I'm going to kill him." I growled, my beast was already prowling ready to come out.
"It's alright Lucian. Calm down." Aurora murmured softly. I took a deep breath before facing her. She looked up at me with a smile on her lips.
"Thank you."
"For what?" I pouted.
She laughed. "For being my knight in shining armor."
"I was just doing what I had to do."
"I know."
A fluttery feeling filled my chest just by the way she was smiling at me. I think I'm making progress with her. I know I am.
It was with tensed feelings that we went to have dinner. The guy, I learned his name was Ryder, he was seated beside Jake. His face already healed, sometimes, I hate that enhanced healing. He glared at me as soon as we sat down, his eyes moved to stare at Aurora but a growl from me brought his gaze back to me.
"Don't even try to look at her." I growled at him, my voice rumbling with tension.
Without even glancing, I could tell that everyone was looking at the both of us.
"Ahem!" Alpha Samuel cleared his throat glancing at the both of us. "I heard what happened and I apologize for that."
"Why are you apologizing?" Ryder asked.
"Because I made the mistake of telling you."
"At least you know it's your fault, then fix it. Sir." I looked at him, trying to keep the growl from my voice so it doesn't sound like I'm challenging him.
"I will."
Ryder shook his head.
"You won't do anything. Can't you see? You telling me was fate. This was meant to happen."
I turned fully to stare at Alpha Samuel.
"Are you listening to him?"
His jaw moved and his knuckles cracked from how tight he was clenching them, he looked conflicted and angry at the same time.
"Dad, how could you forget?" Mirabel groaned.
"You know how obsessed he was and you still told him." Eli growled.
Aurora and I exchanged confused looks.
"What are you talking about?" She asked.
"Its nothing, let's eat."
I slammed my fist on the table.
"I do not want to look or sound disrespectful, Alpha Samuel but if you refuse to talk, I'll be forced to take Aurora and leave."
He blew out a shaky breath.
"Why can't you just tell them, you have known for a long time anyway. That's why you told me." Ryder mocked, a sneer on his lips.
"Ryder is actually..." He began but then paused. "He has always had unusual feelings for my grandmother.
"Huh?"
"Excuse me?
Aurora and I both tilted our heads at the confusing news.
He nodded, his face red with embarrassment as he clutched his fork.
"We thought it was because she helped raise him before she died. But then we discovered it was much deeper than that."
"Yep, which was why he never let us see her picture of when she was younger, until you came along, Aurora." Eli explained.
"But if you knew that, then why still tell him about her?"
"I guess because I wanted him to see the face of the person who raised him."
"I'm going to stop you there..." Aurora interrupted, a glare in her eyes. "My face might look like her but I'm not her.", she stared at Ryder. "You do not have any right to act so touchy and disrespectful to me just because you had incestuous feelings for the woman that helped raised you. That is barbaric and not something she would like to hear from you."
Ryder stared at her with wide eyes, his mouth gaping open, Aurora continued.
"Now I can take anything, your flirting..."
I growled, she shushed me.
"But do not lay any sort of weird claim to me alright? I'm nipping this in the bud before it even starts. I already have so much going on. I do not need some crazy guy with stupid ideals bugging me. Stay away from me. I beg to be excused." She took her plate and went up to her room.
The table was silent, we stared at Ryder. His face was white and pale, his lips trembled.
"She's not great-gran." He whispered.
"No she isn't." Alpha Samuel nodded.
"Why did I think she was going to be like her? She clearly doesn't even speak like her." He laughed a self depreciating smile as he lowered his head. "I'm sorry."
I blinked.
"Are you apologizing to me?" I asked, my voice laced with skepticism.
He nodded and raised his head, I noticed that his eyes were misty with tears.
"I'm sorry. Very sorry. I guess when I heard that there was someone who looked exactly like great-gran, I figured it could be our chance to finally be together."
I curled my lips to the side, that was still messed up but okay.
"I never realized I was projecting what I wanted on her not caring even after finding out she already had a mate.
After a few seconds, I nodded.
"Fine, I forgive you. Just don't...don't ever speak to her again. I won't take any chances."
"No problem." He nodded with a whisper.
After a while, Luna Stellar, Mirabel's mom clapped her hands.
"Now that's taken care of, can we go back to eating?"
Everyone chorused their agreement. I briefly wondered if I should go get Aurora back, but then I decided against it. She needed the privacy.
"Oh, yeah, I actually forgot the second reason I came here, Uncle." Ryder started.
"What is it?"
"Dad said he got a message, a message from a different pack."
I tensed, my fork halfway to my mouth.
"Who sent it?"
"According to him, he's called Alpha Desmond."
