CHAPTER FORTY-ONE
AURORA'S P.O.V
"Finally! You came bitch!"
Talia squealed from the porch as soon as she saw me. I grinned and waved at her, she rushed towards me, her arms spread wide open, a look of delight on her face.
"Talia!"
I yelled back while running to her. We flung ourselves into each other's arms and twirled round before finally separating.
"I thought you would never come. I was this close..." She pressed her thumb and indext fingers together. "....to storming my way over to that pack house, consequences be damned."
"I'm sorry, a lot of things happened, I missed you too. And thank goodness you didn't rush over there, it would have been chaos."
She took my hand in hers and dragged me inside, I sat beside her on the couch.
"So tell me, what have you been up to lately?"
She shrugged, "Oh nothing much, just missing my best friend."
"I missed you too. I have a lot to tell you."
She perked up, her eyes bright as her hair bounced in its ponytail.
"Tell me. What is it?"
"I finally found out about my family, though not completely."
"How? Who?"
"And I also have a white wolf."
She looked stunned, her lips open as she shook her head.
She leaned in and whispered.
"Can you show me?"
There was nothing sinister in her voice, just amazement and curiosity. That's my best friend right there.
"Later, but let me tell you everything."
So, I told her how Lucian found out everything from his father and how much his father sees me as a threat. To cut the long story short, I told her everything, except....
"Wow, now you no longer have to feel less of yourself anymore. Does that mean soon you will become even stronger than the alpha?"
"Shush!" I hurriedly placed my hand over her mouth, she stared at me in confusion.
"Do not put me in trouble, I never said that, okay?".
She nodded her head, slowly I pulled off my hand, my eyes on her.
"Sorry." She giggled.
"But...there's something bothering me."
"What is it?" She sat up straight, her eyes narrowed, as if ready to attack. "Is it Lucian? Are you being bullied again? Those women didn't have enough of your super powered blast? Give them more, no better still, show me to them."
She raised her fists up in her face with a glare. I couldn't help laughing because she looked so cute.
"What? Aren't we being serious here? Tell me, I'm ready to fight."
"No." I shook my head and took her hands down. "Its actually Alpha Kieran."
She frowned and tilted her head.
"What about him?".
I looked away.
"He asked me to follow him to his pack."
"He did what?"
"Wait, I'm not done."
She took a deep breath with her eyes closed, then exhaled and smiled.
"Continue."
"He has been asking me this for a long time but I kept on delaying my answer. Then just this morning after he learned of what I am or could be, he asked me again. And this time, he offered me the position of an elder."
Her eyes bulged out as she gripped my hands painfully.
"An elder? What's his plan? Why is he asking you this when he knows you have a mate and it is the freaking future alpha?" She looked at me with narrowed eyes. "Do you want to go?"
"Well.." I bit my lips as I averted my gaze.
"What? Aurora Frankenstein Steel! You are not thinking of leaving me alone in this pack right?"
I did a double take.
"When is my middle name Frankenstein?"
She rolled her eyes.
"Well it is now. You can't tell me you're actually considering it. You're going to leave me behind and also your mate. Forget your mate, what about me?"
I waved my hands in a calming motion.
"Relax okay. I'm not sure anymore. Before I was about seventy percent sure I was going to go with him but then..."
She followed my face and leaned near.
"But then...what?"
"Lucian." I bit my lips feeling my cheeks getting hot. "He's got me confused."
"In a good way right? Does that mean you are starting to like him?"
"I never said that."
"Then what did you say?"
I shrugged.
"I just think I should wait? Like not make any rash decisions before I regret it."
She nodded seriously.
"Lucian for President. Keep doing the good work Lucian, make her confused until she has no choice but to refuse that leech's offer."
"Talia!"
"What?"
She yelled back, we stared at each other for a while before erupting in giggles.
"Okay fine, I'll wait for you to decide. Anyway..." She preened. "I think I found mine, maybe yesterday."
My eyes flew open, I dragged her in for a hug.
"Really? Who is it? Have you met him before? Is he handsome? Did he accept you?"
She shook her head with a deadpan expression.
"None of that."
"Huh?" I frowned.
"I was drunk yesterday when I saw him, we stared into each other's eyes but for the life of me, I can't seem to remember his face. I don't even think I saw his face, just his eyes."
"Wow. What are you going to do now?"
She shrugged as she looked up.
"For now, I'm going to break up with my boyfriend."
I gasped and slapped my thighs.
"Yeah, you do have a boyfriend. I forgot, how could I forget that?"
"Yeah, I'm going to break up with him. We both agreed that once any of us found out mates, we would call it quits. Which is fine by me because my parents will soon be back in a week time, I don't want to be sneaking out to meet him under their noses."
"I'm happy for you, I hope you find him soon."
"And he accepts me too." She added, her eyes looking worried.
"Relax, he's going to love you. Who doesn't?"
She grinned and threw up her hands.
"I know right?"
We Laughed and spent the next few hours chatting about mundane things until I realized it was late and I had to go.
"Bye! See you later!"
"Bye! Don't forget to visit me soon."
"I won't."
I smiled and headed out, my hands tucked into the pockets of my hoodie. After walking for a bit, I stopped because I could swear I felt a presence following me. Slowly, I turned and peered into the darkness. No one there, I shrugged and kept on moving. But three minutes later, I stopped and spun round again, still nothing but darkness.
"I might be seeing things. It's just my imagination."
