CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-ONE
AURORA'S P.O.V
The tension in the room seemed to dissipate as soon as he left, and Alpha Ryder began to mingle and chat once more. I was more shocked that he said nothing to help or defend his friend, that's if they are friends.
Lucian leaned in, his voice low in my ear.
"You're doing great, baby. Just be yourself."
I smiled up at him, feeling a surge of satisfaction..
"Thanks, I think I'm getting the hang of it."
I looked around, my lips in a frown.
"What's wrong?" Lucian asked, his face creasing with worry.
I looked up at him.
"I don't think I've seen Eleanor since today. Where is she? She didn't come? She was so excited for this party, she can't miss it."
Lucian's eyes scanned the crowd, his brow furrowed in thought.
"I'm sure she's around here somewhere. Let me go check."
I nodded, my eyes continuing to scan the crowd. That's when I spotted her, laughing and chatting with a group of men near the bar. I smiled, feeling a sense of relief.
She was wearing a stunning silver gesta with intricate beading and embroidery, her hair styled in an elegant updo. She looked like she was having the time of her life, and I couldn't help but grin.
"There she is." I pointed for him, he chuckled, his eyes going softl as he watched her.
"Mom, she's having fun."
"Yes, let me go say hi, I'll be right back."
"Okay."
I made my way over to her, Lucian following close behind. As I approached, Eleanor looked up and caught my eye, a huge smile spreading across her face.
"Aurora, darling!" she exclaimed, opening her arms wide. I hugged her, feeling a surge of love and affection. "You look beautiful, so beautiful my dear," she whispered in my ear.
I pulled back, smiling at her. "Thanks, mom. You look stunning, as always."
She chuckled, her eyes sparkling.
"I'm just having a lovely time chatting with these gentlemen," she said, nodding at the men around her. "But go and have fun my dear.", then she leaned in and whispered, "We might be about to catch Auron but that doesn't mean you won't have your fun. Go on."
I nodded, smiling at her. "Okay, go have fun. I'll catch up with you later."
She patted my hand, then turned back to her new friends, laughing and chatting with them. I watched her go, feeling a sense of happiness.
I took Lucian's hand again.
"She's okay, she's having fun."
He scoffed, nudging me with his shoulders.
"I knew that, you know."
A few minutes passed, Lucian suddenly made a sign to the DJ, the he pulled me gently to the stage.
"Lucian? What's going on?" I asked, my voice in a panic, at the same time smiling at everyone.
"We have to make a speech."
"A speech?". I almost screeched.
"Yeah, I am the alpha and you are my Luna, as the host and the main character, we need to give a speech to to our guest. I know I clearly told you that." He looked at me through narrow eyes. "You didn't forget, did you?".
I shook my head, blinking rapidly
"Of course not..." Nervous laughter. "I remembered, the speech. I know that."
He smiled. "Great, I'll start first."
He took the microphone being offered to him, his eyes scanning the crowd. "Welcome, everyone, to the Luna Ball. I'm honored to have you all here tonight to celebrate the bond between Aurora and me, and the unity of our pack."
He smiled at me, and I smiled back, feeling a surge of love and gratitude, and anxiety. What am I going to say?
"Aurora, my love, you're the reason we're here tonight. You're the heart of our pack, and I'm so grateful to have you by my side."
The crowd erupted into applause, I could see Talia and Mirabel cheering and waving they're hands. Kale and Jake gave me a thumbs up, I blushed, feeling happy and loved.
Lucian continued, "As we celebrate tonight, I want to remind everyone that our pack is built on the principles of love, respect, and unity. We're a family, and we're stronger together than we ever could be apart."
He paused, his eyes serious.
"Tonight, we also acknowledge the challenges we've faced, and the strength we've found in each other. We're grateful for the love and support of our pack, and we're committed to working together to build a brighter future for all of us."
The crowd applauded again, my stomach was getting cold, my palms sweaty. Then it was my turn, I think I'll just wing it. I took the microphone, my hands trembling slightly, I hope no one notices. I cleared my throat, letting my eyes sit on people's faces.
"Thank you, everyone, for coming tonight. It's an honor to have you all here to celebrate with us."
I smiled at Lucian, feeling my heart full. "Lucian, you're my rock, my partner, my best friend and my mate. I love you."
The crowd oohed and aahed, and Lucian smiled back at me, his eyes shining with love.
I continued, my voice stronger.
"As Luna, I'm committed to supporting our pack and working with Lucian to make our pack a place where everyone can thrive. We're grateful for the love and support of our pack, and we're excited to see what the future holds for us all."
I paused, looking out at the crowd. "So let's celebrate tonight, with music, dancing, and joy. Let's cherish the love and friendship that brings us together, and let's make this a night to remember."
The crowd erupted into applause, and Lucian took my hand, leading me off the stage and o to the dance floor. The music started up again, he bowed to me, winking as he straightened.
"Can I please have this dance, my love."
I grinned at him, doing a small crusty.
"I will be delighted my king.
He took my hand and held my waist securely, bringing my body flush agaist ans hard body. Then, he winked at me and began moving. As we danced, I felt like I was floating on air, the music and laughter swirling around us. The room was filled with the sound of chatter and music, and the scent of roses and fresh linen wafted through the air. We twirled and spun, the crowd parting to make way for us. I caught glimpses of my friends, all of them smiling and dancing with their partners. Mirabel was laughing with Shawn, her eyes shining with happiness. Talia was dancing with Griffin, her red dress a fiery whirlwind around her. Ariel was swaying to the music with Eli, her sea-green gesta shimmering like the ocean. As for Eleanor, I smiled happily as I watched her dance softly with an older man, I wished she found her own happiness too.
