Chapter 239 Partiality
To keep Alexander here, Ezekiel had prepared quite a lot of things.
If he managed to leave successfully today, it would be even more impossible to make a move against Alexander in the future!
Alexander looked at Ezekiel in front of him, a cold smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
"If you want to keep me here, I'm afraid the people you have here aren't enough."
"I don't mean anything by it. This is our family's banquet after all. If you leave, it wouldn't look good."
Alexander couldn't be bothered to waste words with him.
"Whatever you want to do, you can fool others, but don't fool yourself."
"What do you mean by that?"
Had Alexander discovered all the people he had arranged? But he had arranged so many groups!
As long as he could make sure Alexander could never return to the Howard Group, Ezekiel had really invested heavily this time. He didn't believe Alexander had discovered all his plans.
Alexander snapped his fingers!
A few seconds later, several violent explosions sounded from the surroundings. Even the chandeliers in the banquet hall kept swaying, and the walls were crumbling!
The explosions came one after another, the closest one in the garden outside the banquet hall.
That's where Ezekiel had arranged more than a dozen assassins in advance.
Charles quickly reached to grab Catherine beside him, but came up empty. When he turned around, he found Catherine had been pulled to Alexander's side.
Alexander's hand covered Catherine's ear, wrapping her in his suit jacket, protecting Catherine completely.
Charles looked at his empty hands, feeling mixed emotions.
Watching Alexander instinctively protect Catherine should have been a happy thing, but why was he so jealous!
Ezekiel heard the explosions outside and completely panicked!
He could tell that all the explosion sites were where he had arranged assassins.
Ezekiel's teeth were about to bleed from grinding, "Alexander! How ruthless you are!"
His heart was bleeding. Those people were all assassins he had hired at great expense.
Alexander had already half-carried Catherine in his arms and strode out of the banquet hall, getting into a car parked by the roadside.
Charles followed closely behind, looking at Catherine with concern.
"Catherine, are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
This kind of scene was nothing to her. Only the Windsor family people thought Catherine would be scared.
Charles looked at Alexander disapprovingly, frowning, "Mr. Howard, don't bring Catherine along for things like this next time! It's way too dangerous!"
When the explosions came, he was stunned. On one hand, he was shocked by Alexander's methods - actually bombing Ezekiel's estate right at the banquet. That took some serious guts!
On the other hand, he was worried about Catherine's safety.
The more Charles thought about it, the more scared he felt.
"Mr. Howard, you want to handle the Howard family's business, but you can't joke around with Catherine's safety. She's our whole family's treasure. If anything happens to her, you can't afford to pay for it!"
Alexander raised his eyes, his cold gaze meeting Charles's in the air.
"I will protect Catherine's safety. No one can hurt her in front of me! If you want to protect Catherine, you should also know she's not a delicate flower. Since Catherine returned to the Windsor family, has she encountered few dangers? "
Just Charles himself had dealt with countless people who tried to attack Catherine in secret!
Charles knew better than anyone what situation the Windsor family children were in.
Catherine looked at Charles, whose face was both gloomy and full of apology, and smiled gently.
"Charles, I'm fine! Alexander told me about today's arrangements in advance. I'm not scared. I don't want to just hold you back. I'm also a Windsor family child. You don't need to worry about me."
In fact, if she wasn't afraid of scaring the Windsor family people, she could do much more than Charles thought.
Looking at Catherine's cute and pretty face, and those watery eyes, Charles's heart melted completely, and he felt even more guilty!
How could Catherine be so gentle and considerate? Hearing her words, he wanted to cry!
Charles vigorously rubbed Catherine's hair and forced back the tears in his eyes.
"Sorry, Catherine! I didn't do well enough. From now on, whatever you want to do, just do it. I'll support you!"
"Thank you, Charles."
Annie in the driver's seat waited until they finished talking before speaking weakly, "Are Emilia and George still at Ezekiel's estate?"
The explosion points were arranged in advance. When they were detonated, Emilia and George were no longer in the banquet hall.
It would be bad if they were accidentally injured.
Charles waved his hand dismissively, "It's fine. They're just a few bombs. Catherine isn't even scared, why should George, a grown man, be afraid? Don't worry about him. Catherine is still hungry. Eating is more important!"
Annie thought to herself, that's not what you were saying just now!
George being attacked by bombs wasn't as important as Catherine needing to eat.
It seemed the Windsor family people were more than just a little biased toward Catherine compared to the boys!
On the other side, at Ezekiel's estate.
After the explosions stopped, two people covered in mud crawled out from the flower beds.
George felt his mouth was full of dirt, and his white shirt had become a yellow shirt.
He spat out the dirt in his mouth, then lifted the clothes beside him. He had taken off his trench coat and covered Emilia's head with it.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, but you look like you're in worse shape."
George followed Emilia's gaze and discovered that his shirt had been torn open in several places by flying stones and tiles. Wearing it in tatters, exposing the toned muscles underneath, he looked like a beggar.
People who didn't know might think he had returned to his days as a Doctors Without Borders physician on the border, constantly moving through gunfire.
Emilia had been shielded completely by him, so she was mostly fine.
George covered Emilia's eyes and twisted her neck to make her look elsewhere, then shook off the muddy trench coat and put it back on.
Emilia blinked, "You didn't have to worry about me! My family used to have explosions all the time. I have experience! How much was your outfit? I'll pay you back. I can buy you a new one too!"
"Shut up."
It was fine when Emilia didn't mention the clothes, but once she brought it up, George felt extremely embarrassed!
So humiliating.
"I'm your attending physician. I don't want you back in the hospital. Taking in a patient who doesn't listen is like losing years off my life."
Emilia didn't dare say anything more. She grabbed George's sleeve and crouched down, walking to a small villa in the estate.
Ezekiel's estate was made up of a row of connected villas. Right now, basically everyone was at the banquet hall.
Emilia had already scouted out the information in advance.
"This area is where Ezekiel's secretary, driver, and bodyguards live. He doesn't trust people around him to live too far away - he's afraid his subordinates will betray him, so Solon should be living around here too."
George looked down at Emilia's hand gripping his sleeve, the corners of his mouth curving up slightly.
Emilia stopped at a room door, pressing her ear against it to listen to the intense argument erupting inside.
"I don't care how you handle these two kids!"
"You don't care? If you don't care, I'll tell everyone what your sister did at the Windsor family."
"Are you crazy?! If the Windsor family finds out about those things, forget about you and me - even Ezekiel won't survive!"
