Chapter 227: Dreaming of Moving
Alexander, dressed in an impeccable black suit, looked coldly at the middle-aged man across from him who was pushing his luck. His arms were crossed.
Alexander removed the gold-rimmed plain glasses from his nose and cleaned them slowly and deliberately.
"Your conditions are completely ridiculous. It makes me wonder if you got drunk last night. If you have some mental illness, I don't mind helping you contact an institution."
Santino Howard's expression changed repeatedly.
"Alexander, the group is so big, you're not the only one who has a say. I just want some shares in the group, that's not too much to ask."
70% of the Howard Group's controlling shares were in Alexander's hands alone. Felix held most of the remaining portion, leaving very little for others.
What Santino wanted now was the shares Felix held.
Alexander sneered coldly: "Dream on!"
Santino slammed the table in anger, his fat body shaking!
A moment later, Santino said with a cold laugh: "Alexander, you're feeling pretty good about yourself now. I wonder if your girlfriend can feel the same way!"
Alexander's brows furrowed instantly!
"What do you mean by that?"
Seeing Alexander's reaction, Santino knew he'd made the right bet.
Just a young hothead who doesn't know how to control his emotions!
"As an elder, I need to teach you something."
"To truly be a good leader, you can't let emotions cloud your judgment. I'm helping you get rid of Catherine. You should thank me!"
Santino's expression was strange. "Alexander, you're the one who harmed Catherine. If you hadn't taken her to that auction so publicly, I wouldn't have known what she meant to you."
Before he could say more, a sharp pain shot through his leg!
Santino looked at the gun pointed at him, his bleeding thigh, and Alexander's eyes filled with deadly intent. He was terrified!
Alexander glared at him through gritted teeth. "Santino, if anything happens to Catherine, I'll take the lives of your entire family!"
Santino was filled with indescribable fear. In that moment, he suddenly realized that Alexander's previous restraint wasn't because he didn't dare!
Alexander's methods were far more terrifying than he and Ezekiel had imagined!
Throwing aside Santino's trembling body, Alexander strode outside.
He reached the parking lot as fast as possible, got in his car, and floored the gas pedal.
He called Catherine several times, but she didn't answer.
Even though he knew someone should be with Catherine, and nothing too serious should happen, plus her skills...
Even knowing he probably didn't need to worry, Alexander's heart still raced irregularly!
Childhood scenes seemed to replay before his eyes. He saw that moment from years ago again!
Alexander's palms were covered in cold sweat, his hands gripping the steering wheel so hard his veins bulged.
The car sped along, tires scraping the ground and sparking, stopping in front of the antique shop.
Uranus was whistling while using a pressure washer to clean the bloodstains on the steps.
When he saw Alexander's car stop at the shop entrance and Nightfall get out with a murderous aura, the overwhelming killing intent made Uranus shiver.
Was Nightfall here to settle a score with Catherine?
Or had he finally discovered Catherine was a black-hearted scammer?
Following the principle of being a good subordinate, Uranus stammered nervously.
"Nightfall, Mr. Howard! Catherine isn't here."
Alexander's gaze swept past Uranus and into the shop.
A rattan chair swayed gently in the sunlight, warm and peaceful. A slender hand lazily stroked the cat in her lap.
Catherine turned her head slightly, yawned, her beautiful eyes misty with drowsiness.
"Alexander? What brings you here?"
Alexander stood still, looking at Catherine twice, as if making sure everything was okay before striding forward.
He knelt on one knee in front of the rattan chair. The fat cat on Catherine's lap jumped away, smelling the blood on him.
"Are you okay?"
"Me? I've been here sunbathing the whole time. What could happen?"
Alexander breathed a sigh of relief!
The joy of finding her safe filled his heart. He held Catherine's hand against his forehead.
"I'm glad you're okay. I thought..."
Catherine was somewhat surprised.
Alexander, such a high and mighty person, her opponent, had always been cold, decisive, and ruthless.
So he could have moments of anxiety too. How rare.
Realizing the reason for Alexander's unease, Catherine's voice softened unconsciously.
"I'm fine. The people who came have all been dealt with."
Alexander nodded, his tone affectionate.
"I'm sorry. They were from the Howard family."
"It's okay. It's not your fault. You don't need to apologize."
Catherine added, "Several people in the Howard family have business that conflicts with the Galactic Aurora Collective's interests. I would have dealt with them sooner or later anyway."
So all of this had nothing to do with Alexander.
Understanding her implication, Alexander still didn't feel at ease.
If those people weren't dealt with, they would definitely come after Catherine again!
Seeing this scene, Uranus patted his chest. Good thing Nightfall wasn't here for revenge. He'd been worried Catherine had found another man.
Uranus brought over a chair for Alexander and placed it next to Catherine's rattan chair.
"Please sit, Mr. Howard. Two groups, thirty-five people total, all cleaned up. The mastermind hasn't been dealt with yet."
Alexander sat beside Catherine and said coldly: "I'll take their lives myself."
Uranus said with a smile: "That's what we wanted to hear. Catherine shouldn't have to suffer this kind of unprovoked disaster."
"I understand!"
Although many people wanted to kill Catherine, it was rare for her to be targeted as if she were defenseless!
Uranus was getting excited!
Even if Catherine could be a canary, she'd be the kind of deadly canary that could bite through a crocodile's neck.
Catherine handed Alexander a handkerchief, then thought better of it and wiped his face herself.
She explained softly.
"You have blood on your face. Looks like spray pattern. Where's it from?"
"The thigh, I think. I forgot. Should have aimed for the heart."
Hearing the regret in Alexander's words, Catherine's lips curved into a smile.
"It's not too late to go back and do it."
"Okay, whatever you say."
The scene was warm and harmonious.
Emilia on the side pretended she saw nothing.
Suddenly she felt a bit unnecessary here. What was that about?
Ezekiel, sitting in front of the screen waiting for good news, jumped up from his chair!
"What did you say? All our people are dead? Did Alexander predict this? Impossible!"
"Santino was also injured by Alexander? How dare he!"
