Chapter 197 Preparing to Change a Fiancé
"Boss, are we really taking him to Galactic Aurora Collective?"
Mercury was a bit hesitant. After all, Galactic Aurora Collective held too many of their secrets. It really wasn't appropriate to let Alexander go there.
Catherine looked at the several Galactic Aurora Collective members in front of her. "You disagree?"
Mercury quickly raised his hand. "You're the leader, you call the shots!"
Mars stepped forward and hoisted Alexander up. "Let's go. Since Catherine trusts him, we have no objections."
Venus drove up a truck from somewhere. "Get in! We made too much noise here. People will be coming soon!"
The back of the truck had enough space. Catherine had Mars lay Alexander flat and checked his pulse.
Mars frowned. "Boss, Nightfall really is tough. With such serious injuries, he still held you and jumped down. Watching from the opposite side, I thought he was fine."
Mercury helped Catherine stop Alexander's bleeding while marveling, "True. I saw him standing there making threats, thought he was totally fine. Didn't expect him to be covered in blood."
They had been standing on the opposite building watching. Seeing Alexander looking so composed and calm, they really thought he was uninjured!
Mars had thrown out a rope that Alexander caught with one hand, holding Catherine as he jumped out. His movements were so smooth and clean.
Who knew he was actually injured!
"No vital organs hit, just lost quite a bit of blood. Too many wounds that need treatment. Let's talk more when we get back to Galactic Aurora Collective."
Catherine breathed a sigh of relief, looking at Alexander who had fallen into unconsciousness.
He was clearly injured—why didn't he tell her?
The scene had reeked too much of blood, and Alexander was too good at pretending in front of her. Though she'd guessed he was injured, she never imagined it was this serious.
If she'd known Alexander was this badly hurt, she definitely wouldn't have let him jump down first.
Mercury looked at his computer. "Boss, George went to Heritage Storage Depot. Good thing we left quickly."
Catherine nodded, her expression cold with a hint of killing intent.
"The Hughes family and Thunderstrike Mercenaries won't need to operate anymore."
Mars rubbed his hands together expectantly. "Are we finally making a move on the Hughes family? Do we handle it ourselves or contact the Windsor family?"
"We'll do it ourselves. By tomorrow morning, I want to see news of the Hughes family's bankruptcy."
Galactic Aurora Collective had enough companies under its control to bankrupt the Hughes family. The Hughes family had made too many enemies—once people saw them in trouble, others would help finish the job.
Catherine took out her phone and dialed an encrypted number across the ocean.
Timothy, beneath the Black Tower, was dangling several people to feed the sharks. The sharks circled in the water, drawn by the rich scent of blood.
Seeing the number on his phone, Timothy immediately jumped up, his fierce expression turning obsequious.
"Catherine! What's up?"
"Need a favor. Thunderstrike Mercenaries doesn't need to exist anymore. My people can't conveniently go to Ironclad Jail right now. Give me a hand."
"A hand? What hand? Who are you underestimating? Don't worry, I'll wipe them out! Did their people get on your bad side?"
Catherine said flatly, "Yes, they provoked me."
"Wait for my news!"
Hanging up, Timothy casually waved his hand. The people suspended in mid-air were accurately thrown into the sharks' mouths. The sea surface turned blood red.
"These guys happen to be from Thunderstrike Mercenaries too. Take a photo and send it to Catherine."
Catherine looked at the photo on her phone and rubbed her temples helplessly.
"Someone's handling Thunderstrike Mercenaries. Let's bankrupt the Hughes family."
"Got it!"
Galactic Aurora Collective.
As soon as they returned to the villa Galactic Aurora Collective had bought in Imperia City, Mars placed Alexander in Catherine's lab, raised both hands, and turned to leave.
"Catherine, this is your man—you handle him! So he doesn't beat us up when he wakes up, we won't look at his body! Bye! You've got this!"
Mercury followed suit, raising his hands in surrender. "Right, right. I heard from Shadow Syndicate people that Nightfall has serious germaphobia. Better if you do it yourself."
Venus nodded in agreement. "Catherine, you're enough to handle his wounds alone. We'll go deal with the Hughes family. Hurry up though—his injuries need immediate treatment."
Catherine watched her subordinates file out in a crowd, not leaving her a single extra glance. She rubbed her forehead helplessly.
Looked like she needed to tighten up internal discipline sometime soon.
Otherwise, these people would keep pushing their luck!
Catherine took a deep breath and reached out to unbutton Alexander's shirt, one button at a time, revealing his muscular torso.
Alexander had quite a few wounds of varying depths on his body, probably from past missions.
Catherine carefully removed Alexander's clothes, but her hand was suddenly caught by his.
His gaze was intense, emotions surging in his eyes, almost drowning Catherine.
"Taking advantage while I'm down—are you trying to take advantage of me?"
"Just applying medicine. You're injured."
Alexander's hand gripped Catherine's slender wrist, his eyes full of aggression.
"You want to bankrupt the Hughes family?"
"Isn't that your plan too?"
Alexander released Catherine's hand and obediently let her help remove his clothes.
"Great minds think alike. But the Windsor family is also making moves. You might see the Hughes family go bankrupt even sooner than you think."
If the Howard family and Windsor family worked together, the Hughes family really wouldn't have any chance to recover.
Catherine took an alcohol swab and carefully disinfected and treated the wounds on Alexander's body.
"You have a lot of scars."
"Sorry if I scared you. Most of them are from a few years ago."
Catherine looked at the deepest scar on Alexander's body and frowned slightly. "How did you get injured today?"
"Too many of them. I wasn't careful and got hurt."
"You're lying."
Given Alexander's cautious nature, after discovering Shadow Syndicate's people were blocked, he wouldn't have gone with just a few men.
Catherine applied slightly more pressure. The alcohol seeping into the wound made Alexander hiss in pain.
"Easy there. Are you trying to get a new fiancé?"
"I'm not lying. I received some information saying they had something my mother left behind. If I didn't go, they'd destroy it. I cared about it, so I went."
Alexander chuckled and shook his head. "I forgot to tell you—Emilia's mother was the daughter of Blade of Dusk's leader. She used to be my mother's friend. It's normal she'd have my mother's belongings."
Alexander pulled a ring from his pants pocket and placed it in Catherine's hand.
"My mother's keepsake—her favorite ring. It's yours now."
"For me? If it's so important to you, it's not appropriate for me to have it."
Alexander shook his head gently. Looking at Catherine, his eyes were full of tender affection. His Adam's apple moved, his breath warm.
"You're the most important person to me now."
