Chapter 195 Personally Going Up to Save People
[Heritage Storage Depot, only three people on Nightfall's side, get here quick!]
Heritage Storage Depot was only ten miles from Catherine's current location.
She glanced at the rough map and memorized the route in her mind.
Catherine put away her phone, straddled her motorcycle parked by the roadside with long strides, fastened her helmet strap, and quickly started the engine.
"George, I've got something to handle. Could you please take Emilia and Juniper back? I'll come home later!"
"Catherine..."
Before George could finish his sentence, Catherine's figure had disappeared at the intersection, quickly becoming a speeding shadow.
Emilia whistled: "Didn't expect Catherine to be so wild, I like it!"
She had thought Catherine was just someone pampered by the entire Windsor family.
Emilia squinted and looked - the direction Catherine disappeared in seemed to be toward Blade of Dusk's hideout. Whether it was her imagination or not, she was happy to buy Catherine some time.
Blade of Dusk had killed her mother and still wanted to exist unscathed in Imperia City, causing trouble everywhere under Anthony's protection - no way!
Emilia looked at George and smiled charmingly: "I won't go further. Those people all know me, and it'll be hard to explain to my grandfather. Please take me back."
"If you don't take me, I'll tell Catherine you're not a good person. You brought me out, so you should take me back, right?"
George's eyelid twitched.
"Fine, I'll take you back. Juniper, you get in too."
Emilia got back in the car and held her phone up to George.
"George, let's add each other on WhatsApp. Maybe we have something in common."
Something in common?
What could they possibly have in common?
While adding her as a friend, George raised an eyebrow: "Do you also like research on proton pump inhibitors for surgical stress ulcers? Then we definitely have something in common."
Once George started talking about his professional research, he couldn't stop, immediately launching into an explanation of his recent project.
Emilia didn't understand a single word, her expression gradually becoming blank.
"What?"
Juniper couldn't help but interrupt George.
"George, can you shut up? Talk about it when your project wins an award. What girl wants to hear this stuff!"
With George being like this, he was destined to be alone forever. Did Emilia look like someone interested in proton pump inhibitors?
Emilia pressed her temples and muttered to herself.
"Big mistake, big mistake. I wanted to find myself a Windsor family son as a boyfriend to compete for inheritance rights, but turns out he's an idiot."
After the car had driven some distance, George's eyes looked at the rearview mirror.
"Someone's following us. Blade of Dusk people?"
Emilia simply leaned over to look.
"Looks like they're here to kill me? That driver is Esme's father, Lloyd Hughes. His face is so ugly it's refreshingly memorable, hard to forget."
Esme's father Lloyd Hughes was Anthony's adopted son, who had been helping Anthony handle dirty business for years.
"Maurice, that idiot, probably wants Esme to replace me. But look at that face - she wants to replace me!"
Emilia sneered, her beautiful face full of disdain.
"George, if it's too much trouble, just let me out. I'm not at the point where I need the Windsor family to help me deal with such small matters. Of course, if you're willing to leave me a few people, that'd be even better!"
George looked at Emilia with a complicated expression.
Cold sweat on her forehead, hands trembling, but still talking tough.
Since she was Catherine's friend and had just helped them find several Blade of Dusk gathering places, he wasn't the type to abandon people after using them.
George reached up to unbutton his shirt, his eyes darkening.
"There are lots of surveillance cameras ahead. We need to shake them off before we can make a move. Hold on tight!"
Heritage Storage Depot.
The long-abandoned warehouse covered a large area. Catherine's motorcycle passed through old unfinished buildings, her gaze falling on the building closest to her.
Mercury crawled out from the bushes and waved at Catherine.
"Over here! Nightfall is on the fifth floor. Blade of Dusk has over three hundred people here, and Nightfall's people are still on the road. They probably can't make it in time."
"Can't make it?"
"Shadow Syndicate's people were blocked. The entire highway was dug up by excavators, trapping them on the road. It'll take them a while to get here."
Mercury was shocked. Blade of Dusk was being completely unreasonable. This was Imperia City - how could it be more chaotic than the border?
Mercury immediately called the police hotline and sent over everything Blade of Dusk had done in one file.
At least compared to the border, Imperia City still had laws.
"The police have taken over that situation, and our people went to rescue them, but Nightfall's side is a bit dangerous."
Shadow Syndicate only had three people here - facing over three hundred opponents was indeed tricky.
"Where did Blade of Dusk find so many people?"
Blade of Dusk in Imperia City only had about two hundred people total. Even if Anthony personally brought the Hughes family along, they couldn't gather over three hundred.
"Thunderstrike Mercenaries showed up! Otherwise, Blade of Dusk wouldn't dare dig up the highway even with a hundred times the courage. Thunderstrike Mercenaries have been at the border too long - time to give them a taste of Stellara's laws!"
Mars walked out carrying a gun.
"Our people are in position. Rescuing them shouldn't be a big problem."
Catherine's gaze fell on the abandoned building before her. The unfinished structure was covered in cement and dust everywhere, with bricks and construction debris piled together. One wrong step and you'd fall straight down to your death.
"I'm going up to take a look."
Mars asked in surprise: "You're going up to rescue him yourself?"
Catherine shook her head.
"He doesn't need me to rescue him, but his goal should be to eliminate Blade of Dusk. It's not a loss for us to do this. Go prepare."
Shadow Syndicate's people couldn't make it, but Faceless Ones' people were all here!
Just a Blade of Dusk and some nobody mercenary group from the border dared to cause trouble in Imperia City?
"Boss, you're not really into Nightfall, are you? This is the first time I've seen you so invested. Guess that's what having a marriage arrangement does!"
"It has nothing to do with that. Out of righteousness and morality, I would help anyway. If you were trapped up there, I'd rescue you too."
Watching Catherine's back as she carried a heavy sniper rifle up the stairs step by step, Mercury raised an eyebrow at Mars.
"Righteousness and morality? Catherine has those?"
Mars shrugged: "Definitely not."
"If I were up there, Catherine would rescue me?"
"Sure, but whether you'd be missing arms or legs is hard to say, and whether you'd be dead or alive is uncertain too."
Having completed Catherine's statement, Mercury finally felt satisfied and went to set up the ambush with his people.
