Chapter 111: Man in Prison
Ethan looked up to find a gun pointed right at his face.
Hearing the commotion, people outside rushed into the hospital room, their weapons aimed at Mars and Venus.
"What's the meaning of this?"
"Ethan, not every job should be taken. Some money might look easy to earn, but it could cost you your life!"
Ethan frowned. He had indeed casually accepted several jobs earlier.
Abyssal Blades didn't have a solid foothold in Stellara and needed some operating funds.
He had taken on several jobs that happened to be nearby.
"Is someone you're protecting among those targets?"
Mars said viciously, "If anything happens to Catherine Windsor, everyone in your organization will pay with their lives!"
Ethan quickly realized they were talking about Catherine from the Windsor family.
"Since when does the Windsor family need your organization's protection?"
Venus held up two fingers and pushed Mars's gun aside.
"Take a guess - if the Windsor family finds out you're here, will Matthew still be safe? Ethan doesn't matter, but Matthew's body can't be moved right now."
Ethan immediately tensed up!
If the Windsor family found out he was here, they definitely wouldn't let him go!
When he had previously taken the job to kill Marcus, not only did all the assassins he sent out never return, but the Windsor family also warned him several times!
Charles even put a price on his head!
"Don't worry, I accepted the job, but I won't actually go after Catherine! Once I take a job, other organizations won't dare touch it."
Ethan's forehead was covered in cold sweat!
Mars put away his gun, snorted coldly, and walked out of the hospital room.
Venus had a kind smile on her face, but her eyes held no trace of warmth.
"Ethan, do you think the Windsor family might have already received news about the job you just accepted?"
Ethan's pupils dilated instantly!
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Charles looked at the order on the dark web and suddenly stood up, spilling the coffee on his desk!
Richard was surprised by his frantic reaction.
"What's wrong, Charles?"
Charles gritted his teeth and slammed his fist on the desk!
"That damn Ethan! Does he really think the Windsor family can't touch him? He actually dared to accept a job to kill Catherine! He's asking for death!"
Richard immediately got up from the sofa and strode to the computer, looking at the dense information on the screen.
His eyes darkened, revealing a sharp edge.
"Who posted the job?"
Charles pulled up all the data, narrowing his eyes.
"The data has been wiped clean. I'll have people recover it right away!"
"Charles, should we send someone to warn Ethan? He's getting bolder and bolder, even daring to accept jobs targeting our family."
Charles laughed coldly, his presence commanding, radiating an aura of dominance.
"We haven't settled accounts with him over the Marcus incident yet. Since he's so bold, we'll play along and show him who runs Imperia City!"
"I'll call Catherine and tell her to be careful."
Richard quickly made the call.
"Richard, what's up?"
"Catherine, what have you been doing lately?"
Richard always spoke to Catherine with a smile. Just hearing his voice, you'd never know he was famous for his sharp tongue.
In the entertainment industry, his mouth spared no one, taking shots at everyone.
Only when facing family could you see his gentle side.
Catherine glanced at Alexander sitting across from her, handling company finances.
"I've been with Alexander lately visiting a friend. We'll come home once he recovers a bit. Why?"
Hearing that Catherine had been with Alexander lately, Richard breathed a sigh of relief.
Although he usually found Alexander annoying and believed he had bad intentions trying to steal Catherine away, right now Catherine was definitely safe with him!
"Then you two have fun, no rush to come back. Be careful when you're out, and ask me if you need money."
"Okay."
Catherine nodded, knowing that the Windsor family had probably seen the information on the dark web and were calling to warn her to be careful.
Richard hesitated for a moment before speaking seriously.
"Catherine, no matter what happens, if I have to choose between you and someone else, I'll always choose you."
He had heard from Charles about some of Esme's affairs and knew that once Esme's actual connection to the Vitality Pills traders was confirmed, she wouldn't be able to stay in the Windsor family.
Catherine was a bit stunned. She had already had someone erase the IP information from the dark web precisely to avoid causing trouble for the Windsor family. Had Richard discovered it anyway?
"I know you don't have confidence in family, since your previous family members were all like crap, but our family is different. Trust me."
Catherine understood - Richard was explaining about Esme's rumors.
She didn't care about that at all.
In her eyes, Esme was just playing small games with tactics no better than Clara's.
To avoid making things difficult for the Windsor family, she had simply ignored Esme every time she came around.
"I know."
"Catherine, in our hearts, you're the most important! Even if someone from our own family tries to bully you, I won't let them get away with it!"
Catherine felt warmth in her heart. Was this what family protection and love felt like?
After hanging up, Catherine unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
A message silently arrived on Alexander's phone.
Alexander picked it up and glanced at it, a faint smile appearing on his lips.
"Your brothers sent me a message telling me to protect you well."
"Got it."
"Although I'm happy they trust me, protecting my fiancée is what I should do."
Catherine gave him a bland look.
This man was really completely different from before!
How come she never knew he liked taking credit so much?
Alexander felt pleased - this was the first time he'd felt trust from the Windsor family beyond their usual wariness and vigilance.
He quickly replied to the message, telling the Windsor family to rest assured.
Mars stood at the door and knocked symbolically on the office door.
"Boss, Matthew's awake. He's asking to see you."
When Matthew would wake up had been predicted all along. She had only given a vague timeframe to prevent Ethan from fully understanding Moon's medical abilities.
Once Ethan became convinced that Moon's medical skills were unmatched, he would definitely try every means to poach people from Faceless Ones. Just thinking about it was troublesome.
Entering the hospital room, Ethan was excitedly hovering around Matthew, looking like a jumping ape.
Catherine found it rather unseemly and quietly looked away.
"He's fine now. I've prepared the medicine he needs to take recently. Now can you tell me where the person I want is?"
The smile faded from Ethan's face. He hesitated for a while before speaking.
"In prison!"
