Chapter 226 The Howard Family Targets Catherine? Leave No One Alive!

Chapter 226 The Howard Family Targets Catherine? Leave No One Alive!

With just a quick glance at Catherine and Emilia's clothes, the shop owner knew these were definitely two rich people!

Rich people were great—they were the easiest to fool. Basically, they'd believe whatever you told them.

"Ladies, what kind of jade are you looking for? Everything in our shop is top quality!"

The shop owner had a fierce, menacing face, and his smile was full of greed.

Catherine's gaze fell on the shop owner's hands.

These weren't the hands of someone who'd worked in the underworld, and she could even tell this shop owner didn't know how to cut stones.

Most likely, he was an outsider hired specifically to scam people.

Seeing them stay silent, the shop owner worried they might leave.

"Everything in our shop is good stuff you can't find anywhere else. Like this bracelet—it's premium glass jade!"

Catherine looked at the resin-filled bracelet in the shop owner's hand. "Good stuff made of plastic?"

The shop owner's hand clearly trembled!

How did this woman see through it?

Without changing his expression, he smiled. "Oh, so you're an expert! Then look at this bracelet! This one is genuine glass jade!"

Catherine raised an eyebrow slightly. "Glass jade made of actual glass?"

The smile on the shop owner's face was getting harder to maintain.

What he'd brought out were among the better fakes, so how could this woman see through them all at a glance?

Whenever rich young ladies in fine clothes had come to buy jade before, they'd just pass off resin bracelets and glass bracelets.

It looked like they had met someone who actually knew their stuff!

The shop owner's expression changed as he looked at Catherine.

This girl in front of him didn't look very old, probably not even twenty. Could it be that her family often bought jade, so she'd picked up some knowledge?

If she knew about jade, why would she even come in after seeing what their shop looked like from outside?

After all, their shop had nothing but fake goods. Anyone who knew their stuff would know what kind of place this was just by walking by.

In fact, not a single piece of real glass jade could be found in the entire shop.

"You're not here to buy anything? Then what are you here for!"

Catherine looked at the burly shop owner in front of her, her gaze cold and her voice indifferent.

"To find your shop's real owner."

"I am the owner. What do you want with me?"

"You're not."

Even for a shop specifically selling fakes, someone who knew absolutely nothing about jade couldn't possibly be the owner.

Catherine glanced at him, then pulled Emilia along and turned to leave.

The shop owner watched their backs, feeling something was off.

These two girls came in and didn't buy anything—were they here to cause trouble?

If they really were here to cause trouble, he wouldn't let them leave safely!

The shop owner watched them walk out, his expression gradually turning vicious.

He pulled out his phone and pressed a number.

After hearing him describe what happened in the shop, the person on the other end laughed coldly.

"Follow them. See which shop these two girls go into. If anyone wants to mess with me, make sure they never go back!"

Catherine and Emilia's figures appeared on the surveillance footage. The person on the call looked at them, then his gaze fell on the man sitting in the shadows.

The middle-aged man who'd been talking tough one second changed his expression the next.

"Ezekiel, this woman is the one Alexander likes. Should we make a move on her here?"

Ezekiel Howard unhurriedly took a sip of his tea, then looked up to glance at Catherine on the video monitor.

Even through the somewhat blurry surveillance video, one could see Catherine's graceful figure and steady, elegant steps.

Clearly, she was a rare beauty.

Ezekiel sneered. "Alexander really is still a kid. After all that picking and choosing, he found such a wet-behind-the-ears woman. Pretty is pretty, but she can only be a caged bird."

Ezekiel's lips curved cruelly.

"I'd also like to see what Alexander's reaction would be if he found his caged bird dead. Would it be even more spectacular than back then?"

"But she's still the Windsor family's daughter. If we make a move on her, how do we explain it to the Windsor family?"

"Once I become the head of the Howard family, even the Windsor family won't be able to touch me!"

Ezekiel's tone was full of confidence.

Wasn't Alexander's mother also a daughter of a prominent family? Didn't they still fail to do anything to him!

As long as his surname was Howard, and he made Alexander die in despair and give up his position as head of the family, what could the Windsor family do to him!

"Arrange some people. We don't need too many to deal with this Catherine. Just make sure she dies. Best if she dies slowly—at least let Alexander see his beloved one last time."

"Yes, I'll arrange it right away."

Leaving the jade shop, Catherine led Emilia toward an antique shop across the street.

As soon as they walked in, the person sitting behind the counter greeted them with a cold tone.

"Look around for whatever you want. You probably can't afford anything in our shop anyway."

Catherine said coldly, "Uranus, what in this shop can't I afford?"

Hearing the familiar voice, Uranus immediately looked up and put on a fawning expression.

"Boss, what brings you here?"

"There are a few tails following us. Deal with them."

Emilia looked confused. "What? Someone's following us? How did I not know at all!"

She watched wide-eyed as Uranus pulled out a sniper rifle with a silencer from under the counter and went outside.

Emilia's jaw nearly dropped as she stared at Catherine!

"Catherine, aren't the people around you a bit too wild?"

Then she turned around to see Catherine had already laid down on a rocking chair in the shop, leisurely resting with her eyes closed.

There was even a cup of tea beside her, and she was holding a cat that had appeared from nowhere on her lap!

The scene before her was so peaceful that Emilia almost forgot about the sounds of fighting and screaming coming from behind.

This must all be her imagination!

Catherine opened her eyes to look at Emilia and waved her over.

"There's another stool here. Come sit down. It won't take long. There aren't many people—they'll be done killing them soon."

"Okay!"

Half an hour later.

Uranus came back from outside whistling, casually wiping the blood from his face. "Boss, they were all people arranged by Ezekiel."

Uranus seemed a bit disappointed.

"Too weak. Just two shots and they spilled everything. Not a single one with any backbone. It really gives me no sense of accomplishment!"

Ezekiel?

That must be Alexander's uncle then.

For him to make a move on her, he was probably opposed to Alexander.

Did he think she was easy to bully? What a joke!

Catherine lay back down, closed her eyes, and stroked the cat's soft, smooth fur absently.

"Another group is about to arrive. Your sense of accomplishment is on its way."

"Leave none alive."
