Chapter 167 Opening the Video Left by Elodie
Michael's face instantly turned ugly!
"Ms. Windsor, this joke isn't funny at all. I genuinely want to apologize!"
Catherine let out a light laugh, her mockery reaching its peak.
"Michael, you poisoned my gallery, poached my employees, tampered with materials and nearly caused an accident, and the Hughes family's gallery openly challenged my staff. You call this a sincere apology?"
"If everyone in the Hughes family has this level of intelligence, the Hughes family doesn't need to wait until later—you can just declare bankruptcy right now."
Michael never expected that Catherine knew about everything he had arranged!
This was impossible. He had been so careful and secretive with those things. How did Catherine discover that he was the one orchestrating everything behind the scenes?
She must be testing him on purpose.
"Ms. Windsor, please don't make false accusations. I would never do such underhanded things. Someone must be maliciously framing me. This is all a misunderstanding. You absolutely mustn't believe it."
Catherine scoffed.
She took out her phone and played a video right in front of everyone.
In the video, those workers clearly stated that the person who wanted to poison Catherine and make her die was Michael!
Everyone's gaze toward Michael changed!
Using those shady methods to try to ruin the gallery was one thing—you could still call that plain old business warfare.
But he actually poisoned Catherine? What kind of nerve did he have?
Catherine wasn't just the beloved daughter of the Windsor family—she was also Alexander's fiancée.
Judging from how Alexander had just kicked Michael twice in public for Catherine's sake, this matter probably wouldn't end so simply.
The guests at Owen's birthday party were all elite members of high society, and they could tell at a glance that the Hughes family was about to face big trouble!
Someone immediately said: "Michael, about that collaboration you mentioned last time—I've thought it over, and I can't do it."
"Right, right, that thing you just told me about—forget it. Let's not work together anymore!"
Hearing the voices around him, Michael's mind went blank!
He had indeed drugged Catherine, but only to make her accidentally fall ill with a strange disease. Then he would step in to save her, and Catherine would surely abandon Alexander and fall deeply in love with him!
He never intended for Catherine to die.
It was over. Everything he had worked so hard to build was finished!
Michael's eyes rolled back, unable to handle the blow, and he fainted. He was quickly dragged away by the estate's security and sent back to The Hughes Manor.
Catherine watched Michael being dragged away and withdrew the smile from her lips.
Alexander put his arm around her waist and leaned down to whisper: "You drugged him?"
"Yes, just to keep him from having the energy to bother Dominic for a while. It's not fatal."
The drug she slipped him wasn't deadly, but what happened today was enough to make Michael miserable, and he'd die several more times over after returning to The Hughes Manor.
A flash of amazement crossed Alexander's eyes!
He hadn't even seen when she drugged Michael. This ability to poison without a trace seemed to only belong to that elusive person abroad with excellent medical skills.
Could his fiancée be connected to that highly skilled doctor, or could Catherine actually be that doctor herself!
No wonder Shadow Syndicate's previous attempts to reach out had all gone unanswered!
"Should I be careful then? If I upset you, will I also end up lying in bed for days?"
Catherine glanced at him coolly and said indifferently: "If you're interested, you can try it."
Alexander chuckled softly, leaning close to her ear and whispering: "I don't want to lie in bed for days, but I hope it would be with you."
Catherine felt there was more to his words!
Was this man sick or something?
How did she never know Alexander could be so childish and boring!
Catherine's ears quietly turned red. She shot Alexander an annoyed look and walked toward Dominic in the distance.
"Come, Owen, let me introduce you. This is my only student. You'd better remember her."
Owen, despite his age, had his hair neatly combed back, looking meticulous. His eyes were bright and spirited, his presence commanding.
He studied Catherine for a moment and nodded approvingly to himself.
"Marcus's granddaughter? Brady said you play chess very well. Come play a game with me sometime."
Catherine answered obediently: "Alright."
Owen nodded with satisfaction, looking around the living room and speaking meaningfully.
"Catherine, don't take what just happened to heart. The Hughes family has had it too good these past two years—they've forgotten they're just dogs!"
Catherine remembered that the head of the Hughes family had been Owen's secretary before making his fortune, and only achieved his current position with the Harrison family's support in his early years.
Calling them Owen's dogs was indeed quite fitting.
Dominic looked at Catherine. "I still have some things to handle. When you're done having fun, head home."
"Okay."
Catherine agreed, and she and Alexander left the estate together and got into the car parked by the road.
As Alexander leaned over to fasten Catherine's seatbelt, he asked thoughtfully: "Should I arrange for someone to follow Dominic?"
"No need. Dominic won't get into trouble."
As a veteran member of Galactic Aurora Collective, Catherine knew Dominic's capabilities well.
It was just that Dominic didn't want to take action—otherwise, no one could hold back a member of Galactic Aurora Collective!
The Windsor Mansion.
The car stopped at the entrance, and Alexander bent down to kiss the back of Catherine's hand.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow. I'll have everything ready for Ironclad Jail. Rest well today. Don't worry about anything—just think of it as going for a fun trip."
The warmth from his lips still lingered on the back of Catherine's hand. She withdrew it, her expression calm: "Ironclad Jail isn't a good place for tourism."
No one would consider that kind of place a vacation spot. Alexander's words were truly arrogant.
But he certainly had the capability to back it up!
Even if Shadow Syndicate wasn't enough to shake Ironclad Jail, the Howard Group was enough to make them wary.
As a massive entity that had stood on the border for years without falling, Ironclad Jail also had its own capital and strength that no one dared challenge.
Alexander chuckled: "Alright, I understand. You want to travel somewhere else with me. After we get back, okay? I'll make the arrangements. You can go wherever you want."
Annie, sitting in the passenger seat, was quite excited!
Were Alexander and Catherine going on their honeymoon so soon?
Did that mean she'd soon get a super long vacation!
Annie immediately said: "Catherine, don't worry, I'll arrange everything! I guarantee you'll have a great time! Do you prefer the beach or castles?"
Catherine got out of the car, closed the door, and strode toward The Windsor Mansion without looking back.
When did she ever say she wanted to go anywhere with Alexander?
Annie rolled down the window and shouted toward Catherine's graceful retreating figure: "Catherine, don't worry, I'll definitely research the perfect travel itinerary for you!"
For the sake of her vacation, go for it!
Catherine had just walked through the front door when Richard waved her over.
"Catherine, come look at this sculpture and see how to open it. Where is the video stored?"
