Chapter 125 Let's Go to Ironclad Jail Together
"Catherine, I'm so glad you want to go on a date with me. Does this mean you've been thinking about me?"
Catherine had already figured it out—the message was most likely sent by Mercury using her account.
These people inside the Galactic Aurora Collective were truly impossible to guard against.
They were all absolute geniuses with way too many tricks up their sleeves!
Even though Catherine's phone never left her side, they could still use computer backend programs to format it as a phone number and send messages to Alexander in her name!
Uranus whistled, looking like he knew exactly what was going on.
"Don't worry, we've already jammed and blocked all the signals around here. With Alexander making such a big scene, he won't let us get discovered. At most, there'll be some posts online saying some rich person might be proposing nearby, and we'll just become a tourist spot for people to check in at."
Catherine looked helplessly at this group of carefree subordinates!
Was this supposed to be a good thing?
Dubhe looked at the roses and said with a smile, "Alexander, if you don't want these flowers, can we make them into macarons? We'll send you some too!"
"Do as you please. These flowers are indeed an edible variety, I just wanted to make Catherine happy."
Alexander held Catherine's waist, showing no intention of letting go.
Catherine took a deep breath. "Let go, or I'll punch you."
"Is sparring with me part of the date too? Then next time I'll find a boxing gym in advance. Do you prefer underground fight clubs?"
Alexander said this but still loosened his grip as she requested.
Catherine turned to face her subordinates and smiled kindly. "You're all done for. Just wait."
Everyone felt a chill down their necks and scattered, covering their necks as they fled!
Alexander's face was full of doting smiles, and he looked quite friendly toward the Galactic Aurora Collective members fleeing like startled birds and beasts.
"The people around you have a nice atmosphere."
At least he could tell these people genuinely worked for Catherine, their eyes full of sincere respect and admiration.
It seemed Catherine was quite good at managing subordinates. To have the famous Galactic Aurora Collective work for her, she must have many more outstanding qualities he hadn't discovered yet.
No rush, they had plenty of time. He would slowly discover all her good points!
"It was Mercury who sent you the message, not me."
Catherine took out her phone, glanced at the message Mercury had edited, and looked speechless!
"Want to go on a date? I miss you, my baby!"
Anyone could tell the message wasn't from her, right? Yet Alexander not only believed it but came with such fanfare!
Alexander chuckled softly but didn't let go of Catherine's waist.
"I know you didn't send it, but I really wanted to go on a date with you, so I came."
"I'm not very clear on how to make a girl happy. Annie taught me these things before. I didn't do it very well, please bear with me. It'll be better in the future."
He knew the message wasn't from her, so why did he still come?
Just because he wanted to date her?
"These things were prepared on short notice, they might not be great. I couldn't find enough wild roses."
He knew Catherine liked wild roses, but finding so many in such a short time was difficult, so he chose the redder roses instead.
"It's not necessary. Don't make such a big scene here next time."
"Okay, next time we'll go on a date somewhere else. I'll give you an even bigger surprise."
"That's not necessary either."
Forget the surprises—Catherine now felt it would be good enough if she didn't encounter any scares when going out!
But the feeling of being valued was indeed quite nice!
"They just said your experiment is over. Do I have the honor of going on a date with you?"
"Sure."
She didn't have the face to go back to the lab now anyway. She could already imagine how the Galactic Aurora Collective people would tease her if she walked in now.
Since she originally had things to discuss with Alexander anyway, they might as well go together!
Alexander's car was parked outside the sea of flowers. He thoughtfully opened the car door for Catherine, then leaned in to fasten her seatbelt, dutiful and attentive.
Yet from time to time, she caught the scent of his cologne—faint, but like the man himself, forcefully invading her life, making it hard to ignore even if she wanted to!
"May I know what experiment you did this afternoon?"
"Guess."
Alexander pondered for a moment, then raised an eyebrow. "Is it about the parent-child relationship between Bethany and Marcus, and Lila?"
Catherine turned her head to look at the rapidly retreating scenery outside. This was the Windsor family's private matter, which he shouldn't ask about, but she wouldn't interfere with what Alexander could figure out on his own through his intelligence.
"Lila is indeed not my biological grandmother. Everything else is fine."
As for Esme's part, she still needed to discuss it with Bethany first to see how he viewed this issue. After all, whether it was Lila or Esme, they were both people who had spent much more time with Bethany!
Alexander chuckled softly.
"You look cold on the outside, but you're actually a good kid who cares a lot about your family's feelings."
He was always so frank, wanting to speak out everything in his heart, to tell her, at least to let her feel his burning affection!
Catherine propped her head with one hand, covering the blush creeping onto her face.
When these words came from his mouth, they always carried some unclear meaning.
"I'm glad, at least it proves that after we get married, you'll care about me the way you care about your family."
Alexander's voice carried a pleased smile.
Hearing him speak, Catherine's heart quietly skipped a beat.
The care he wanted—was it just like family?
Perhaps for Alexander, she was just someone he needed to marry, nothing more?
Catherine couldn't tell if what she felt was disappointment or sadness, leaving her emotions somewhat dazed for a moment.
"I have something I'd like to ask for your help with. You name the conditions."
"Let's hear it."
Catherine pressed her lips together and explained Jacob's situation.
"My people aren't in Ironclad Jail, but if Shadow Syndicate needs information from other prisons, Faceless Ones will provide it for free."
Alexander gazed ahead, his usual cold aloofness dotted with traces of tenderness, yet his whole being carried an unmistakable aura of authority—the bearing of someone long accustomed to power!
"I don't need prison information right now. It's not hard for you to go to Ironclad Jail, but I need to go with you."
He explained in a low voice, "My friend only recognizes me. If you go alone, you won't be able to see Jacob. As for conditions, I need to think carefully."
This was the first time his fiancée asked him to name conditions—of course he had to seize this opportunity!
Catherine said flatly, "The offer expires."
Alexander chuckled softly. "My condition is simple. At least until I've prepared everything to take you to Ironclad Jail, when you have time, think about me more."
His voice was cool yet carried a lingering tenderness.
"Catherine, my condition is to try to trust me a little. Actually, I would help you even without any exchange of interests. Not all feelings in this world can only be measured by benefits."
"I like you because you are you, not because you're Blackfire or anyone else."
Alexander looked into Catherine's eyes, his words taking on a domineering tone.
"I hope, or rather I demand, that you also try to like me a little."
