Chapter 115: Sleep in One Room!

Chapter 115: Sleep in One Room!

Neil hadn't prepared much food, but the dishes from the mountain village were full of home-cooked warmth.

Looking at the food in front of him, Alexander carefully tasted each dish.

As if trying to experience the path she had once walked.

In the modest-sized courtyard, you could see the starry sky just by looking up - it was intoxicating.

"You were probably a picky eater as a child, weren't you?"

"How did you know?"

Someone who knew what she didn't like to eat would naturally prepare other food according to her taste.

Elodie had never complained about her picky eating, except for saying it would stunt her growth, but she always cooked according to her preferences.

Now the people in the Windsor family were also those who could remember her tastes!

Catherine looked at the food in her bowl - the chicken leg and wing bones had been picked out for her, the tender meat melted in her mouth, and the chicken soup was stewed to a golden color. With the medicinal herbs that were local specialties added in, the whole bowl of soup was delicious.

Perhaps the one who remembered what she liked to eat also included Alexander right in front of her!

After dinner, Neil came in from outside to clear the dishes.

Carrying a kerosene lamp, he checked Cloudscape Villa's electrical circuit for a while, then suddenly slapped his forehead: "Our house's circuit seems to have a problem. How about I get someone to fix it tomorrow?"

He had it all figured out - once the power went out, they'd need to fumble around in the dark to do anything. Then Catherine and Alexander would have to hold hands and feel their way around. Plus, with the old house being so small, they'd accidentally bump into each other wherever they turned...

Just imagining this scene made Neil excited!

Before Elodie passed away, she always said Catherine was too stubborn and would definitely give her headaches when it came to dating. Back then, he and Elodie had discussed it together - all these tricks were planned out at that time!

Neil thought and smiled - Elodie, if you're watching from heaven, you must be grinning!

Catherine frowned slightly and stood up, walking to the circuit box.

She held up her phone's flashlight and squinted at the circuit box.

"Boss, this house is too old. It's normal for the circuits to age. Don't bother looking - I'll get the village electrician to check it out tomorrow."

Catherine said calmly, "I remember we have tools for fixing circuits at home. I'll go get them."

Neil didn't think much of it when he heard this. He remembered Catherine studied design, so she probably knew nothing about circuits.

Catherine found a ladder in the basement, climbed up on it, put on insulated gloves, and carefully examined the circuit in front of her.

Alexander reached out to support her waist, and instantly Catherine felt a shock-like sensation at her waist, almost thinking there was an electrical leak.

It was as if invisible sparks exploded in the night, creating ripples.

"Be careful. If you can't see clearly, let me do it."

Catherine's face inexplicably turned red.

"You know how?"

"My graduate studies happened to include some outdoor practical work. To be honest, I designed all the circuits at the Howard family myself. Want to come see sometime?"

The house at Starry Residence was bought by Alexander and the Windsor family. Sunlit Mansion was always brilliantly lit, with the entire courtyard's lights like fireworks.

"Charles said Sunlit Mansion's lighting is too fancy, like a peacock spreading its tail."

The smile on Alexander's face instantly froze!

He had personally designed the lighting for the entire building, but it was rarely turned on normally. Felix found out about it and insisted on turning it on every day, hoping that when Catherine looked over, she could feel the Howard family's warmth.

What if one day Catherine thought their house's lighting looked nice and decided to marry over immediately?

Turn them on! All the lights in the courtyard must be turned on!

Catherine looked at the circuit board's corner panel and chips, frowning slightly: "Someone's tampered with the circuit?"

The corner panel clearly showed signs of deformation, looking like someone had deliberately damaged it with pliers.

Neil was startled - how could Catherine even tell that!

He had just urgently sabotaged it himself!

Catherine studied design, didn't she? How could she spot circuit problems?

Cold sweat dripped down Neil's face!

"No way, the circuit just short-circuited on its own because it's too old. It's nothing serious!"

"The diodes and capacitors also have some issues. Pass me the tools."

Catherine took the tools Alexander handed up, aimed the flashlight at the circuit, positioned the wrench on the resistor's components, and quickly fixed the circuit with the tools at hand.

The moment she pulled down the circuit breaker, the old house was filled with another layer of warm yellow light, and Elodie's portrait in the hall looked especially kind and gentle.

Neil really hadn't expected Catherine to have this skill!

After fixing the circuit, Catherine checked it over. "Have the electrician replace some parts tomorrow. Many components are getting old."

"Alright, boss. You two rest first. I'll go prepare your beds."

Neil felt extremely disappointed. If Catherine couldn't fix the circuit, in the pitch-black darkness under the moon and flowers, wouldn't the atmosphere be perfect!

Catherine's room wasn't big - just a desk and a single bed. The wardrobe was also small, but there was a full-length mirror stuck on the wardrobe door.

Catherine touched that mirror.

"My grandma said little girls all love beauty. She specially bought this mirror for me from outside."

Alexander looked around the room. Being tall, he felt it was somewhat cramped when he stood inside. Night wind poured in through the window, filling the room with a pleasant fragrance.

"Your grandma was very good to you. She must be very pleased in heaven now."

Catherine nodded somewhat sadly.

Too bad Elodie was no longer here!

Neil poked his head out from the next room: "Boss, I'm afraid you two will have to share a room. The floor in your grandma's room has been gnawed by mice."

Catherine's room wasn't very big. To make space for Alexander to sleep on the floor, it would have to be in the narrow corridor.

That corridor looked cramped even to her, let alone Alexander with his build - if he lay down there, he probably wouldn't even have room to turn over.

She looked at Alexander: "Why don't you sleep in the car?"

Alexander looked at her somewhat pitifully, his voice carrying a hint of nasal tone.

"Catherine, I drove a sports car, a convertible. Even though it has a roof, I can't sleep in it."

Catherine fell silent.

She had forgotten Alexander drove a sports car!

The temperature difference between day and night in the mountains was large, and it was especially cold at night. If Alexander slept in the car all night, he would definitely catch a cold, not to mention his model-like height couldn't fit in a two-seater sports car.

Neil quickly spoke up: "Forget it, I'll just set up a floor bed for Alexander in your room, right by the bed - plenty of space!"

Plenty of space, really plenty.

Just enough that Alexander could roll over once and have his face directly against the wall!
