Chapter 26 Chapter 26.
Alpha Jacob's POV.
"Please, moon goddess." My lips trembled while my heart sank into my guts as I lost the little hope in me.
'Secure the place and spread out.' Beta Olivia snarled mind linking amongst the wolves, who quickly roamed the pond on high alert…
A few dreadful minutes later, Bella's chappy lips began to plump out pinkish, healing themselves along with her skin.
'Alpha, look, she is healing.' Beta Olivia snarled mind linking while she moved closer to us.
Upon listening to Olivia's mind link, my eyes opened up focusing on Bella, who miraculously came back to life even though she was still unconscious, I could hear her heartbeat faintly.
"Bella!" My heart raced vigorously while I clasped hold of her and stood up on the ground.
"A stranger was roaming the pond when I got here. Try to go after them. There ran in that direction." I pointed out the way the stranger's shadow ran into, then a handful of my Betas ran in the direction, leaving me, Bella, and a few Betas.
'Alpha, why she is not healing fully?' Olivia took notice of the slow pace of her healing abilities taking place.
I peeked at her, and Olivia was right. Bella was not healing fast enough…but why? Then I suddenly remembered that the pond water was poisoned with wolfsbane.
"The water has been poisoned. Get a sample and bring it back to the mansion for further investigation." I said while trying to shift into my wolf but nothing, I could not shift because of the huge amount of wolfsbane in my system.
Shit, I must have swallowed a lot of water. I jerked up trying to readjust her in my arms, then I started running back to the mansion to get Bella to a doctor quickly.
A few minutes later, I paced back and forth upstairs in the hallway of the mansion, when the doctor walked out of the room Bella was being treated from. He trudged hesitantly.
The doctor first peeled off the glasses on his face and wiped out the sweat on his face with a white handkerchief.
"How is she doing?"I raised a question with a pale focused face because I could not help but worry about my Luna.
Yes, I said it. Bella Wood is my Luna and mate. And I am not apologetic about it.
The doctor looked at me without focus. "Lady Bella is stable for now, we managed to pump out two litters of wolfsbane from her stomach, so I'm sure within a couple of hours she will be fine. But I suggest you don't leave her side." He answered back, then put back his glasses on his face.
"Thank you, doctor." I clasped his hand forcibly with both my hands and shook them thankfully.
"You are welcome Alpha. But how did she manage to ingest all that wolfsbane without dying? Because only you, Alpha can endure that amount of wolfsbane for a long time without harming yourselves, but I know for sure it affected your morphing ability for a few minutes or hours… Could she be, a you know what?" The doctor whispered with steady eye contact as he retrieved his hand.
I frown my face inquisitively at his statement…because the doctor might be right. Two litters of wolfsbane can kill any wolf in the pack apart from an Alpha.
I hesitantly answered back to his question. "She was downing in the devil's pond, but I think someone must have poisoned the water in there…and for your other suspicion, I can't confirm anything yet. So I will just have to watch her closely to see if what we are both suspecting is true."
"Okay Alpha, please do keep a close eye on our Luna. I will be taking my leave now." The doctor said bowing his head submissively for a few seconds before walking past me…
But who was that at the pond running away? My thoughts lingered while I peeked into Bella's room and she was peacefully sleeping now…
"Alpha, sorry to disturb you." Beta Olivia's voice projected from behind me. I veered around to give attention to what she had to report.
"Yes, Beta. Did you catch the person in the woods?"
"No Alpha, they got away from the area."
"Okay, so what did you find at the scene?" I glanced at her with narrowed eyes while folding my arms against my chest.
"Umm, we did not bother to investigate the sight." Olivia bowed her head submissively.
I scoffed angrily. "Do I have to do everything myself around here myself? Anyway watch Bella and don't leave her side at any cost." I commanded, then immediately ran out of the manor to investigate what really happened to my Bella.
'Good for nothing Betas.' I snarled loudly while running back to the pond
