CHAPTER 89
CHAPTER 89
Leo's POV
Of course, if one person watches it, they tell another, that’s how it spreads. And now everyone looked like the world was about to end. It’s not even that bad; it’s just a tsunami. Why are they all behaving like this?
“Everyone, please calm down! Please!” I clapped my hands, and hearing the sound, they all turned toward me. I stepped forward.
“I know you all are panicking because of the news, but don’t worry. The owner of this bar is talking to the police. If there is any danger, we will send you to a safe place. But for now, please stay calm and try to remain quiet. If you stay calm, everything will be fine.”
Of course, my words were like… I was trying to calm them, but in fact, I was telling them to shut up because they were being so noisy. And it worked. They all became silent and sat there, looking at each other.
Just then, Sol came out of the room with Andrew, and she rushed out. I understood she must be going to the inn to see who that person was. But I don’t think it would be safe for her to go alone. I know she wasn’t alone, she was with Andrew, but Andrew wasn’t that strong either.
“Koba, come with me.” I went ahead, and I saw that Koba was indeed following me, just as I had told him.
As we came out of the bar, I saw another staff member going inside to handle the work. I grabbed his hand before he could enter.
“Go and close the bar. Tell everyone we are not accepting any more customers. Don’t let anyone in. And those who are already inside, take their payment, and if they want to leave, let them go.”
After that, I went ahead with Koba. Sol and Andrew were walking ahead of us. Sol looked very worried. I could understand her worry, it’s her business, and if something happens, of course she would think about the consequences.
When we reached the inn, there was complete darkness inside. Obviously, the door was locked, I had locked it myself before leaving. The lock was still hanging there.
Sol was standing in front of the door. She turned toward me and extended her hand. Seeing that, I took out the key from my pocket and gave it to her. She unlocked the door, and as soon as it opened, only silence, an eerie silence, welcomed us. It felt like no one was there.
Sol stepped inside first. Behind her, Andrew, me, and Koba followed. She knew where Koba’s room was, so we went there directly. But when we reached, we saw that the door was broken. It was already open.
We all rushed inside and started checking everywhere, the cupboard, under the bed, the bathroom, the balcony, behind the curtains, but no one was there. Everyone kept searching.
Suddenly, something crossed my mind. What if that person had been hiding on the first floor, waiting for us to open the door?
Because after unlocking the entrance, we came straight to the second floor without checking anything. So maybe… he had already left the inn by now.
Koba, Sol, and Andrew were still searching everywhere. “Guys!” I called out, and all of them turned toward me.
“Listen, okay? I think whoever that was… they’ve already left. The room’s door was broken, which means they’re not here anymore. They could have been hiding on the first floor, and when we entered, they slipped out. And even if we saw them outside, we wouldn’t recognize them… because we never saw their face.”
I said that, but their expressions told me everything. They were thinking the same thing as me. I took a deep breath.
Suddenly, frustration appeared on Sol’s face.
“Damn! The call isn’t even connecting! They’re saying it’s a network issue, I can’t reach the police at all! I’ve been trying for the last 15 minutes. We have to do something. If that person is really dangerous and has already left… then no one out there is safe.”
We quickly started rushing out of the room. I was running ahead, and Koba was right beside me. Sol and Andrew were behind us. Sol was holding Andrew’s hand tightly as they ran. Suddenly, I noticed footsteps echoing around us.
Our own footsteps made sounds on the floor that bounced through the inn. It wasn’t anything special, but it felt… creepy.
We reached the first floor and dashed out of the inn. As we left, I saw Sol making an announcement about the intruder to our staff group while walking.
Then I turned back to look at the inn, and all I saw was darkness. I didn’t realize our inn could look like a haunted house too.
“I think I should stop watching horror movies,” I muttered under my breath, turning forward again.
Just then, a girl came running toward us, completely out of breath, panting with her chest heaving. She stopped in front of Sol.
“Boss, have you heard the news? The waves of the sea are getting bigger and bigger,” she gasped. “It’s even reached the beach area. All the shops are flooded. There’s a possibility that what the news said… is true.”
I covered my mouth in shock. I had thought the news was fake, just a story to scare people, but I don’t think that’s the case anymore. Something terrible is about to happen.
“Fuck! All this is happening today. Today is my unluckiest day!” Sol exclaimed. I had to agree, today was indeed unlucky, and it all seemed to have started with Koba.
I turned my head toward him and stared hard. Koba arrived today, and all this is happening on the same day. He must be the reason for our bad luck. He must have done something.
Koba noticed my gaze. “What’s wrong, Leo? Why are you looking at me like that?” he asked innocently like he did nothing wrong at all.
