Chapter 110
Riccardo pushed the door open violently to see Leila on the floor and Hayley trying to help her up.
With steady steps, he advanced towards them with a worried look. "What happened? Why is she on the floor?" Riccardo asked Hayley.
"I tripped, I didn't see the bag on the floor." Leila said as Hayley helped her sit on the bed.
"Wasn't that scream a little bit too dramatic for a fall?" Riccardo asked, rubbing his face.
"I'm sorry. I guess I was just shocked." Leila apologized quickly.
"You don't need to apologize." Riccardo said, pulling out a chair to sit.
He was glad that it was just a fall. Because for a moment, he actually thought that someone had broken into her room through the window.
"Are you going to stay here to watch us?" Hayley asked, glancing at Riccardo who sat opposite Leila's bed.
"Yes, till Lucas comes back." He nodded.
"Okay." Hayley muttered, moving farther away from Leila's bed. She sat on the couch across from her bed.
Leila on the other hand, laid on the bed staring up at the Ceiling with different thoughts running through her mind. What happened to her was a life and death situation and she was thankful that she had people who cared for her.
She fully realized that the ROYALS would do anything to keep their dirty secrets safe, even if it meant killing an innocent soul. It wasn't her fault that she stumbled upon them when they were speaking about it.
A thought suddenly came to her mind. She'd have to do something quickly about the ROYALS before they succeed in killing her. She'd have to find a solid evidence to prove that they are behind everything that has happened.
But one thing Leila couldn't understand was why they would go through such lengths, keeping such dirty secrets, getting involved in their illegal business. They are influential people in the country, haven't they thought about what the repercussions would be if the news gets out? "Well, greed wouldn't let them think straight, would it?" She asked herself quietly.
How it would affect their career and company and also the employees working under them? Well, it was too late for them to back down now. They had already tainted their hands with blood by killing her Grandmother. Tears began brimming at the corners of her eyes at the thought of her dear Grandmother.
Who knows how many other innocent souls they've killed just to protect their secret. Leila blinked, trying hard not to let her tears fall.
"What are you thinking about, Leila?" Hayley asked, a worry laced in her tone.
"You look lost in thought." She added.
Leila glanced at Hayley from where she laid. "Nothing." She muttered quietly, then turned to look at Riccardo who was staring out of the window.
"Riccardo." She called.
"Yes." He snapped his head towards her with his eyebrows raised.
"Do you know how we can get the footage from the front of the room at BT NEWS?" She asked, a hint of anticipation in her voice.
"It won't be a problem, I'm sure Lucas must have gotten it first." Riccardo reassured her.
"Alright." Leila gave a small nod.
"I'm feeling better now. When am I getting discharged?" She asked.
"I don't know. The doctor would need to examine you for a few more days." Riccardo informed.
"Oh." Leila muttered sadly.
V&V ENTERPRISES
Diego brought the car to a stop in front of Vanessa's company, she quickly alighted and made her way into the company with hurried steps.
As she approached the elevator, She saw Lily walking towards her.
"Hey, I forgot about the meeting. Why didn't you call me?" She asked, as Lily finally catched up with her pace.
"I was about to. But Damien said that he'll do it himself." Lily informed.
"Hmmm." Vanessa hummed as she pressed the elevator button and waited for it to open.
"Is everything ready?" She asked, walking in with Lily.
"Yes."
"How long have they been waiting?" She asked, sparing Lily a glance as she pressed the button for the floor she was going to.
"Twenty minutes." Lily muttered.
Vanessa stumped her foot on the floor impatiently as she waited for the elevator to reach her destination.
"How is it going with the production team?" She asked, trying to get her mind off the fact that she was extremely late.
"It's doing great. We're making excellent progress so far." Lily stated.
"Good. When are the next products entering the market?"
"Tomorrow. Do you want to give a final review?" Lily asked.
"Yes, I would do that. Add it to my schedule for tomorrow." Vanessa said, just then, the elevator doors swung open and she walked out, towards the meeting room with Lily by her side.
Standing in front of the door, she took a deep breath before opening it and walking in.
"Thank you all for waiting." She said, staring at all of their faces as she made her way towards her seat.
"It's not a problem." Damien spoke up.
Vanessa settled into her chair and soon, the presentation began and the board members also spoke about their opinions.
The meeting was a lengthy one and lasted for about an hour and thirty minutes, when they finally came to a conclusion, the board members began leaving first while Vanessa and Damien stayed back to talk about some few things.
After that, Vanessa left the meeting room and walked out of the Company.
Diego was already standing in front of her car with the door opened up for her. She settled in with Lily and Diego reversed the car and drove out of the Parking lot.
"Drive to a grocery store." Vanessa requested.
"Sure." Diego muttered.
"Ms. Rodriguez, check this out." Lily said, handing Vanessa her tablet.
Vanessa took it from her and stared at the picture for their upcoming projects.
"This is good, but perhaps they could make it more appealing." Vanessa said, handing the tablet back to Lily.
"Sure, I'll inform them right now." Lily said.
She took and tablet from Vanessa and immediately began typing away. Diego pulled the car to a stop in front of the grocery store and Vanessa quickly stepped out.
"I'll be back in a minute." She said to them, carrying her purse with her as she went in.
With hurried steps, she walked towards the door and she pushed it open to walk in, she bumped into someone or rather, someone bumped into her.
Looking up, her eyes almost widened at who she saw, but she decided to stay composed.
It was her Suspect; Alexander Grey.
