Chapter 111

Today's May's funeral. Alicia couldn't believe how many people from her work place attended her funeral, each and everyone of them all had nice things to say about her, evidence of how kind she was and how she's lived a good life.

Alicia, Mike and Adams all stood in front of her grave holding flowers in their hands, they couldn't bring Diane along so they had her stay with Adams parents. While they both tried to be strong for the sake of Mike, Mike couldn't stop crying.

Alicia dropped her flower on May's grave then she told Adams that she needs some time alone, she asked him to be with Mike and that she'll be back once she feels better. Adams understood that she needed sometime alone and simply let her leave.

Alicia took a little walk, she went somewhere a bit far from where May's funeral was being held, when she was alone, she was able to let out all her emotions, every memory about May flooded through her head, causing her so much pain and making her weep bitterly. "I'm so sorry May, I'm so sorry." She muttered, she dropped to her knees and began pounding her chest as she cried, the pain in her heart was just too much to bear, she feels so suffocated and could barely breath well, at this point, she wasn't just crying but was also struggling to breath well.

Unknown to her, Ashton was also present at May's funeral, when he saw Alicia leave the funeral, he had followed her, seeing her in so much pain broke his heart, he knew he had to help her by making her his and taking her far away or she's going to become Evie's next target. He slowly walked to where she was, brought out a white handkerchief from his pocket and gave it to her.

Alicia was surprised when she saw a white handkerchief in front of her, she slowly took it and looked up, that's when she saw Ashton.

"Ashton?" She called in surprise.

"Get up Alicia." Ashton said softly.

Alicia hurriedly wiped off her tears and stood up. "What are you doing here?" She asked, anger written on her face.

"I heard what happened to May, I came to offer my condolence, I'm really sorry about her death."

"Yeah? Thanks, you've done that so please leave." She rudely replied and turned to leave but Ashton instantly went to stand in front of her.

"Please hear me out Alicia, there's something important I need to say to you."

"Well I don't want to hear anything you have to say Ashton!" Alicia yelled. "I don't have any time for all this so please don't start with me right now, just leave me the hell alone!" She tried leaving but he wouldn't let her.

"You're not safe here Alicia, please listen to me."

Alicia furrowed her brow in confusion. "What the hell are you talking about huh!? What do you mean not safe?"

"Come with me Alicia, let me help you. Look Alicia, I may sound stupid right now but I know too well what I'm talking about, it's not good for you to be around Adams right now, you're putting not just your life at risk but also the life of your daughter." Ashton replied, making Alicia even more confused.

"You know Ashton, you're right about one thing and that's you sounding so stupid right now." Alicia spat. "If you don't get out of my way I swear to God I'm going to scream so loud and have everyone gather here, then I'll get you arrested for stalking me!"

"Don't you get it Alicia? I'm trying to help you here and that's by providing the safety that you and Diane needs, just come with me and I'll explain everything to you, it's not good for you to be around Adams or you'll be the next one to die." Ashton replied in frustration.

"Next one to die?" Alicia frowned. "What do you mean by that?"

Ashton looked at her, he can no longer trusts Evie so he doesn't mind telling Alicia the truth about her being the one behind May's death, maybe if he tells her then she's going to agree to come with him and leave Adams, but if things doesn't go as planned then he's going to go with his backup plan because he refuse to loose everything to Adams just like that.

"What do you think about May's death? Do have any idea who's behind her death because I know everything, I know the one responsible for murdering May." He said, and Alicia's eyes widen in shock.

"W...what?" She stuttered. The police has been trying their best to get the one behind May's death, but with no lead at all it's making everything so difficult and seemingly impossible.

"It's Evie." Ashton said and Alicia froze, her jaw dropped in shock.

"Apparently, May got on her bad side so having someone murder her was her way of getting back at May."

"What?" Alicia muttered, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"So you see? You're not safe staying with Adams Alicia, you know too well that Evie wants Adams as well and she's going to do anything possible to have him, she doesn't mind soiling her hands with blood, just as long as she gets what she wants. I just want to help you Alicia, and for me to do that you need to come with me, let me protect you."

Alicia's head was literally spinning at this moment, so many things doesn't seem right, she then looked at Ashton, confusion written all over her face. "How did..." She trailed. "How's it possible that you know Evie? How did you know all this Ashton? How did—"

Ashton tried holding her but she moved away from him.

"Don't you dare come close to me!" She cried out. "Tell me everything Ashton! How come you know Evie? How do you know she's the one responsible for May's death?" She asked, but Ashton was taking so long to reply. "Answer me!" She screamed.

Ashton sighed and then explained everything to her, how Evie had come to find him first, he didn't really give her much details, he only told her that Evie had came to him first in order to help him get close to her and how she murdered May for getting on her bad side.

"What you just said, that she's responsible for May's death, do you have any proof? Can you prove your words to me Ashton? Can you prove to me that Evie is truly behind May's death?"

"Come on Alicia! Do you really think I would lie about something as serious as this? Why don't you just trust me?"

Alicia scoffed. "Trust you? What have you ever done to gain my trust Ashton? Give me one reason why I should trust you? You're no different from Evie and if she's truly responsible for what happened to May, then I'm going to do everything possible to get the evidence I need and have her behind bars for the rest of her miserable life!" She seethed, her blood boiling with rage. "As for coming with you, no matter what danger I may face, I will never ever leave Adams for you Ashton, so quit all this act of yours and stay away from me. I will never choose you over Adams and you better deal with it. It has always been Adams and it'll always be him! I have no love for you in my heart Ashton, and I never will."

Alicia wanted to leave but Ashton held her hand, stopping her from leaving.

Alicia glared dangerously at him. "Let go!" She said with gritted teeth.

"I love you Alicia." Ashton started. "But you've made it so clear that no matter what I do, you're not going to accept me." He scoffed. "So, why don't I just use you to at least get one thing done for myself, even if it's just for a little moment."

Alicia furrowed her brow in confusion, before she could even try to understand what Ashton meant by those words, he swiftly brought out another handkerchief from his pocket, pulled her to himself and roughly covered her nose with it.

Alicia struggled to break free but her strength couldn't compare to his, she tried fighting the effect of whatever he placed on the handkerchief but it was useless. Soon she gave in and passed out in his arms.

Ashton sighed in relief. "Sorry love, I just need you to do one thing for me." He muttered, carried her in his arms and hurried to where he parked his car close by.
