Chapter 101

Evie has just returned home, she was about going to her room but then she perceived the aroma of something cooking and then she smiled. Alicia must be making lunch for Diane.

She quietly walked to the kitchen, being extremely careful not to make any sound that would announce her presence. When she got to the kitchen, she hides and began watching Alicia's every move.

Alicia grabbed her spoon and took a scoop from the soup that was cooking, she tastes it and nods her head in satisfaction, she was actually making Diane's favorite dish and she knew how happy her daughter would be when she returns from school and gets a taste of this. A bright smile appeared on her lips, she just couldn't wait for Diane to come home and meet this surprise, she put down the spoon and left the kitchen.

When Alicia left, Evie sighed in relief and came out of her hiding place, she hurriedly walked to the pot of soup which was still cooking and opened it.

"Now how about a little something for your daughter Alicia." She smirked mischievously.

Evie opened her purse and brought out a transparent plastic bag, in the bag was some ground shrimps, she remembers Adams telling her that Diane has the same allergy he has, at first she felt pity for the little girl but now she couldn't be more glad about it since Diane's allergy is going to help her get back at Alicia. What could possibly be the best way to get back at Alicia if not hurting the very person she loves the most in this world, her daughter Diane.

She doesn't even care if Diane dies from consuming this, her death is only going to be some extra icing on the cake because then Alicia will definitely loose her senses if she were to loose her daughter, if that happens, getting rid of her is going to be a piece of cake, Diane's demise will break her like nothing else.

Evie hurriedly opened the bag and poured a good quantity of the ground shrimps in the soup, she made sure they grinded it so well that it won't even be noticable, after doing that she took the spoon and stirred the pot of soup, when she was done she smiled in satisfaction.

"Now this will definitely teach you a lesson my darling Alicia." She chuckled darkly. She made sure to leave everything the same way Alicia left it and then she quietly left the kitchen.

A few minutes after Evie left the kitchen, Alicia returned and turned off the gas since the soup was ready by now. She checked her wrist watch and noticed it was time for Diane to return from school, since she needed some time to get everything ready for her daughter, she had asked May to help her pick Diane up from school and May was more than happy to help since today was her day off from work, so she was just home doing nothing and didn't mind going to pick Diane up from school.

Alicia returned to her room, grabbed her phone and called May.

"Hey babe, I just called to know if you've gone to pick up Diane."

"Yes, we're on our way back and will be there in a couple of minutes." May replied.

"Alright, I've finally listened to her and made her favorite dish, so I'm eager for her to come home and see it, I know she's going to be happy." Alicia informed May, smiling brightly.

She heard May tell Diane what she's just told her and the next thing she heard was Diane's loud cheer.

"Thank you Mommy, I love you." Diane yelled.

"I love you too honey."

"Alright Alicia, we're almost there, see you soon." May said and then she hung up.

Alicia dropped her phone on her bed and went back downstairs to set the table before they would arrive. She was still doing that when she heard Diane's voice calling out to her.

"I'm in the dining room honey." She yelled.

Diane and May then went to meet her there.

"Wow, it smells so good in here." May gasps, her eyes fixed on the food, she licked her lips, already salivating.

Alicia picked up Diane who ran to hug her. "Now you know why it's Diane's favorite, aside having a good aroma, it tastes even better.''

"And I'm lucky to be here, can I have some?" May asked.

Alicia chuckled. "Do you even need to ask? I'll just go give Diane a bath and we'll join you."

"Not a chance, I would love for us to eat together so I'll just wait, and again I need you to give me more information about the witch in your home." May replied, whispering the last part. "Is she around? I would really love to see her."

"I don't think so, she left the house earlier and I'm not sure she's back since I haven't seen her."

"Oh well, I'll be staying here for a while so I hope she returns soon so I can warn her to back off." May replied with a look of disgust on her face.

Alicia chuckled softly. "There's no need for that May." She then carried Diane upstairs to her room, May trailing behind them.

While Alicia was giving Diane a bath, May waited in her room, keeping herself busy with a new novel she was reading on her phone.

Diane's bath didn't take long and when they came out of the bathroom, Alicia called out to May but she didn't even hear her since she was really intrigued by the novel she was reading.

Alicia rolled her eyes at her and then called her again, but a little bit louder this time. Her voice startled May but also brought her back to reality.

"What's wrong May? I've been calling you but you didn't even hear me, what's keeping you so hooked up to your phone? Don't tell me it's Mike." Alicia said, while helping Diane get ready.

May chuckled. "No it's not him, I'm just reading a novel."

Alicia frowned. "A novel? Have you gone back to reading books?" She asked. If there's one thing May really loves and that's reading, but then she got so busy with work and hardly have time to read, she's surprised to see she's back to reading but also glad at the same time.

"Yeah, you know we barely do much at work these days so I'm not always tired, I figured I should go back to reading and so whenever I'm free I just do that."

"Oh well, what are you reading this time? Is it one of my books?" Alicia winked at her.

"Come on girl...You know I do love to read your books, but this time I decide to try something new, something different." May smiled. "Someone introduced me to a reading app as well as a new genre of a story, so...the book title iss...THE BETRAYED LUNA'S REVENGE by Purple Ink.''

"Wow, it sounds amazing and I'm kinda jealous you're not reading my book but it's okay, you need to try out new genres too." Alicia sighed. "All done, now let's go downstairs and eat before Diane gets even more upset." She chuckled, helped Diane down and they all left the room.

When they arrived at the dining, Alicia helped Diane to her seat, May also took a seat, then Alicia began dishing out the food.

"Mommy I want to try the soup first." Diane said, pointing at the bowl of soup.

Alicia and May chuckled. "Okay honey, I made it especially for you so you deserve to get the first bite." She took a small plate and dished out the soup she's made for Diane, then she gave it to her.

"Careful honey, it's hot and I don't want you to burn your mouth so make sure to blow on it first okay."

"Okay Mommy." Diane replied in excitement, she took her little spoon and began eating.

Alicia and May both helped themselves to other dishes.

Diane had only taken a few spoons when she suddenly began feeling weird, Alicia and May were unaware of this since they were both gisting and laughing as they ate.

First, Diane's spoon dropped from her hand, alerting Alicia and May, when they looked at her, they were surprised to find her scratching herself.

"Diane?" Alicia panicked, she instantly dropped her cutlery and rushed to her daughter's side, May also did the same.

"W...What's wrong with you honey?" She questioned, staring at the sudden rash that was starting to appear on Diane's body.

Diane tried talking but she couldn't, she began struggling to breath.

"What's wrong with her Alicia!?" May yelled.

"I...I don't know, I think she's having an allergic reaction." Alicia cried, she gently carried Diane and laid her on the floor, then she slightly tilt her head backwards to keep her airway open.

"But how's that possible?"

"I don't know, please go to my room and help me get her EpiPen, I always keep one in my purse in the case of any emergency and it's on my bed." She hurriedly informed May.

"O...okay I'll go get it." May replied and ran upstairs.

"Please stay with me baby, nothing's going to happen to you." Alicia cried. Watching her daughter suffer was killing her, she couldn't even tell what the problem was, the only thing Diane took was the soup and she was the one who made it, she didn't include anything Diane was allergic to in the soup so what could possibly be happening.

May soon returned with the EpiPen and hurriedly handed it to Alicia, she then got on her knees and held Diane's hand while Alicia administered the EpiPen to her.

A few minutes after Alicia gave the EpiPen to Diane, she began noticing the effects of it, the swelling on her face began to reduce and her breathing also returned to normal, causing she and May to sigh in relief.

Alicia gently carried Diane and hugged her to herself, she felt so relieved that she couldn't stop crying.

"Mommy." Diane called weakly. "I feel a bit dizzy."

"It's okay baby, you'll be fine, just try to rest, you're okay now." Alicia comforted her.

"What just happened Alicia? What could have been the problem?'' May asked.

"I..I don't know, the only thing she had was the soup and I made that soup, I didn't put anything that she was allergic to in it, I would never do that to my own daughter." Alicia cried out.

"I know Alicia, but what if it had happened by mistake or—"

"Seriously May? I can't believe you would even think that, I'm telling you I didn't add anything she was allergic to in her soup." Alicia half yelled in defense.

"It's okay, it's okay, I trust and I believe you, but let me still have a taste of it since that's the only thing she had.'' May replied, she stood up from the floor and took Diane's bowl of soup, she also took a spoon and scooped some out. When she had her first taste of the soup she couldn't believe it, she took another spoonful and this time she was certain.

"There's shrimps in this Alicia, I can taste it."

"That's not possible, I didn't add any shrimps to it." Alicia carried Diane in her arms and stood up.

"Here, taste it yourself." May gave her a spoonful of the soup and Alicia was shocked to taste shrimps in the soup.

"I...I swear to God I didn't use any shrimps."

"Well if you didn't then who could possibly have added shrimps to the soup you made."

"I..I don't..." Alicia trailed when she thought of someone. "No, it's not possible, she isn't even home and she wouldn't dare to do this either." She shook her head.

"What? Who are you talking about?" May asked.

Alicia looked at her. "I don't know if I'm right to suspect her but she's the only person I can think of right now, after all we're the only ones here, I'm talking about Evie."

"But you told me she isn't home." May reminded.

"I know! I mean I...when we had a conversation she looked like she was leaving the house, but I never saw her came back, it's just—"

"Just calm down." May interrupted her. "Why don't you give Diane to me, I'll go lay her down in her room so she can rest, then you go see if Evie is home."

Alicia nods in reply, she gave Diane to May and went to check up on Evie.

"I swear to God if this bitch is responsible for this, then she's going to have to answer to me." May vowed silently.
