Chapter 17 Threatening Generosities
“I…uh, you shouldn’t be in here”, I told him, my voice turning hoarse when I realized the state of my attire. My face heated up of its own accord as I’d just been imagining his reaction to the dress… I’d practically manifested him here…. what the hell was wrong with me?
“Hmm”, he crooned, taking a step toward me whilst simultaneously leaning down to go eye-level with me.
I took a hurried step back, he just took another step forward.
“On the other hand, I think I am exactly where I should be.”
I grunted in surprise when my naked back hit the cold surface of the mirror, making my body jolt from the coolness.
“Why are you here, Daniel?”, I managed to ask, trying and failing to ignore the way his eyes raked over me…. more importantly, I hated the fact that I didn’t mind him practically undressing me with his piercing grey-hued eyes. I didn’t mind it at all.
“I came to give you this, I’d forgotten earlier when you left my house”, he thoughtfully said, making me squint at him in confusion.
He pulled out a black credit card and a brand new iPhone from his coat pocket, furthering my confusion.
“What’s all that for?”
“You told me yesterday that someone stole your phone and whatever cash you had, so I figured you would need these.” He matter of factly said, like it was completely normal to give away credit cards to people you barely knew.
“But…..:”, I started but he cut me off with a warm finger to my lips.
“Now before you protest, I’m not doing you some favour… I know that it was probably Natasha who got your room ransacked because she thinks I humiliated her for you, so I’m just fixing what is my fault”, he grumbled, his tone suggesting that he would not take kindly to me refusing as he shoved into my hands a Black Amex card and the phone.
“Holy Christ! Is that real?”, I was shocked as I turned over the black beauty in my hand. “It can’t be. There are only like 20,000 people in the US who have this.”
“Yeah, it’s fake”, he drily replied, giving me a bored look as he ran a hand through his ruffled brown hair, messing it up even further. Just as I get the urge to fix his hair, I starkly remind myself how that ended for me last time, ignoring my hormone's stupid desire to get a repeat of last time.
“B… but I can’t accept this. You know this card has no limit, right? What if I spend all of your money? Did you think about that?”, I shot back at him, aghast and in utter disbelief.
To my baffling confusion, he chuckled instead of being worried and backtracking and taking back his card like I expected him to.
“My sweet, sweet Ayesha, you would have to buy a whole damn city to even put a dent in my bank account”, he pinched my cheek, grinning from ear to ear. I swatted his hand away, annoyed with him treating me like I was naive or something,
“Whatever… but I still can’t take these from you. Thank you anyway”, I softly said, pushing his stuff back in his hand.
Only for him to grab my hand into his in a painful grip and not let go.
“Look, I didn’t come here to argue with you. Just take the damn card and phone. Or we can stand here like this for as long as you want. Your choice”, he irritatedly said, frowning at me.
I scowled at him, baring resistance. When he realized I wouldn’t budge, he continued, “If that’s not enough incentive for you, then how about I call in my uncle to see us like this? How do you think he would feel about me….”, the bastard brought our conjoined hands together up to his mouth, my knuckles grazing his lips as he completely pressed himself against me,” being this close to his bride? Closer than he’s ever been to you.”
Heat emanated from his body into me, his threat making my whole body shiver in fright.
The last thing I needed was more problems with that revolting man, but my mouth couldn’t help but provoke him further, “How do you know he hasn’t been a lot closer to me than this already? How do you know he hasn’t touched me already?” I regretted the words the moment they left my mouth when I noticed Daniel’s jaw twitch dangerously.
Gritting his teeth, he vehemently replied,” Did….” he took a deep breath as if he was trying to rein himself in,” Did he try to touch you?”
“N…no.” I truthfully said, his threatening glare making me stumble over my words.
“Jesus fucking Christ, Ayesha. You can’t just go and say shit like that to me. Unless you want to be the reason I put a fucking bullet in his head, in that case, be my fucking guest.”
Wait…. What did he just say?
I quivered under his glare, his feral gaze making me jittery all over.
“Now take the damn card”, he said under his breath, impatience and masked fury coating his voice.
But I was still reeling from his previous words to react quickly enough.
He moved away from me, going to open his mouth as if he was going to shout for his uncle but I instantly freed my hand from his and pressed my palm to his mouth, effectively shutting him up. “Please don’t”, I begged him, fear lacing my nerves.
“I wasn’t going to”, he whispered against my palm, his warm breath fanning against it, making tingles run up to my fingertips.
“Do you really think I would ever let him see you like this?”, he possessively stated, like he meant every word. A hint of anger hung onto his frown as if he blamed me for even thinking that he would ever do such a thing.
My heart jumped in victory, giving my brain the metaphorical middle finger as if to say,’ I was right all along.’
I quietly took the card and white case phone from his hand, not finding sentences or even words to further protest against his absurd generosity.
I gulped, hard.
“I think this might be the first time you’ve ever listened to me without me having to argue with you for an hour”, he cajoled, making me side-eye him as if to say that it was not true…. but in fact, it was true.
“Except for the time you sucked me off but that’s about it”, he causally stated, smirking his devious smirk.
He just had to add that, didn’t he?
“Shut up and don’t ever speak of that again”, I scolded him, hiding my face in my hands. Embarrassed to my very core.
“What? You should be proud. You did exceptionally well for a first-timer,” he continued, taking visible enjoyment in my embarrassment like he usually did.
