Chapter 18

NOVEMBER

It was two weeks to the day the university resumed, and I still didn't know when I was going to stop working, if anything, I became busier. I even traveled out of town with the dragon last week and he didn't bring up the topic.

A part of me told me that he had forgotten but the other part? The other part told me he knew what he was doing, and he hasn't forgotten.

I think reminding him would be the best option.

I knocked twice on the mahogany door and walked into the office not even waiting for his reply.

"Sir, I came to remind you that the university is resuming in two weeks" I told him in my most professional voice.

"I didn't forget" I knew it! I just knew it.

"So, what's going to happen?" I asked, playing with my fingers "You keep working" he said simply, not even looking at me once.

Keep working? Keep working how biko? (please?)

"I don't understand what you mean by, keep working" I said, pouting.

"What I mean is, you will keep on working here" he said, this time, standing up from his chair and walking over to me.

Okay...

"But it's school, I won't always be available" I tried to reason with him.

Honestly, I didn't even know what was wrong with me. I was earning more than I could ever imagine in this company and anyone in their right minds wouldn't want to let this job go, but here I was complaining.

"Submit your timetable then, you'd be able to work from school and when you're not having any class, you'd be here" he suggested.

This man had clearly been thinking and there was a possibility that this could work but I don't think I was ready for such a task.

As if sensing this, he said "okay look, I could employ someone that will do all the work here when you won't be able to make it, what I mean by work here is paperwork. They'd do the paperwork when you're not here" he explained. There was a certain light in his eyes as he spoke, like he could already see me working from school or from my house.

Maybe this wouldn't be such a bad thing.

"Okay, I'm very grateful sir" I said, smiling wildly.

********

2:00pm, the time read, and it was time for a meeting with Mr. James to finalize the deal.

Mr. Dragon kept pushing this meeting because of what happened the last time, he said it'll be my punishment and anytime I push the meeting, I should always remember that it's my fault.

What a child!

So, I had enough and talked him into calling them for the meeting today and he told me that if they were late again, he'll cancel the deal.

I knocked three times on the mahogany door, and he told me to come in.

"Sir, I have prepared conference room 3 for the meeting" I told him, and without looking at me, he gave be a plain ol "Kay"

Kay?

"The meeting is right now" I added to make him look up at me but, he didn't, he just nodded his head.

What is going on here?

One minute he's telling me (not in the exact words) that he wants me to stay and the next minute he's ignoring me.

I know I'm behaving like a spoiled child right now and I'm probably reading too much meaning into this, but I know this is not nothing.

He's not ignoring me because he's busy, hell he could be looking at pictures of cats on that laptop right now.

I stood there looking at him in disbelief.

Finally, he raised his head up and gave me a confused look "is there something you need?" This is definitely not nothing.

"Nope" I replied childishly and went out of his office.

Nawa o I walked to the conference room to make finishing touches, but I got a message from the receptionist, telling me that the men were already here.

Thank God.

I went to get them and when we got to the room, Mr. Knight was already there, sitting at the head of the table in all his glory, looking fine as forking fuck.

Focus Nov!

"Nice to see you again Mr. Knight, I heard you've had quite the busy schedule" Mr. James started.

Oh Mr. James, if only you knew!

Thankfully, Mr. Knight didn't drive me out of this meeting like I thought he would.

"You look mighty fine today, Miss November" Mr. James said out loud, after the meeting had ended.

"Thank you so much sir, you look good today" I complimented him "Please, don't whine me" (please don't deceive me) he said, and I laughed.

Mr. Knight was still in the room and not once did he turn to look at me or Mr. James.

Now, I don't even need a prophet to confirm that there was something wrong.
